Industrial production in Ukraine in April 2021 increased by 13% compared to April 2020, while in March the growth was 2.1%, in February and January – a fall of 4.6% and 4%, respectively, the State Statistics Service has said.
The agency clarified that, adjusted for the effect of calendar days, the growth of industrial production in the past month was slightly less – 12.5%.
The State Statistics Service indicates that from March this year, industrial production in April fell by 3.2%, however, taking into account the seasonal adjustment, it increased by 2.7%.
In processing industry in April 2021 versus April 2020, the growth was 18%, in extracting industry and quarrying – 6.9%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air – 4.5%.
In general, over the four months of this year, industrial production in Ukraine increased by 1.5% compared to the same period last year, including in processing industry – by 1.6%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air – by 4.2%, in extracting industry and quarrying – decreased by 0.5%.
As reported, industrial production in Ukraine in 2020 fell by 5.2% after falling by 0.5% a year earlier. At the same time, in December last year, for the first time since May 2019, its growth was recorded compared to the same period of the previous year – by 4.8%.
Industrial production in Ukraine in March 2021 increased by 2.1% compared to March 2020, which was the first month of the introduction of quarantine due to COVID-19, and the growth adjusted for the effect of calendar days was 2.4%, the State Statistics Service has said.
The department indicated that the growth of industrial production in March 2021 amounted to 10.9% against the previous month, and on a seasonally adjusted basis – 1.8%.
In the supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air in March 2021 from March 2020, an increase was 7.3%, in processing industry – 2.5%, while the reduction in production in extracting industry was 1.5%.
The State Statistics Service clarified that in the first quarter of 2021 in relation to the same period a year earlier, industrial production in Ukraine decreased by 2%, in particular in mining industry – by 2.8%, processing – by 3.3%, although the supply of electricity, gas and steam gains 4.1% due to substantially colder weather.

Industrial production in Ukraine in May 2020 decreased by 12.2% compared to May 2019, while in April the decline was 16.2%, in March it was 7.7%, and in February 1.5%, the State Statistics Service said on Tuesday.
The authority said that with the adjustment to the effect of calendar days, the decline of industrial production in May was even slightly less – 11.7% compared to 16.7% in April.
The State Statistics Service said that in April of this year, industrial production in May increased by 4.9%, but, subject to seasonal adjustment by 2.8%.In the processing industry, from May 2020 to May 2019, the decline was 15.6%, in the mining industry and quarrying it was 8.9%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning – 1.9%.
In general, in January-May this year, industrial production in Ukraine decreased by 8.7% compared to the same period last year, including in the mining industry and quarrying – by 6.6%, in the processing industry – by 10%, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning – by 6.9%.

Industrial production in Ukraine in May 2019 increased by 1.6% compared with May 2018, after a rise of 5.2% in April, 2.1% in March, and a fall of 1.8% and 3.3% in February and January respectively, the State Statistics Service has reported. The service said that compared with the previous month, industrial production in May fell by 0.85%, and taking into account the seasonal factor it dropped by 0.9%.
In general, in January-May 2019, the growth in industrial production compared to the same period of 2018 is 0.9%, according to the State Statistics Service.
The rise in processing industry in May 2019 from May 2018 was 1.1%, in extracting industry and quarrying some 2.3%. The figure in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air reduced by 2.5%.

The rise in processing industry in April 2019 from April 2018 was 7.4%, in extracting industry and quarrying some 2.7%. The figure in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air grew by 0.3%.
Industrial production in Ukraine in 2018 increased by 1.1% compared with 2017, while in December 2018 from December 2017 the decline was 3.5%, the State Statistics Service has reported.
The service said that with the adjustment to the effect of calendar days, industrial production in December 2018 from December 2017 decreased by 2.7%.
It indicated that industrial production in December last year in relation to the previous month decreased by 1.7% and taking into account the seasonal factor by 0.2%.
The decline in processing industry in December 2018 compared to December 2017 was 8.6%, while in mining industry and quarrying there was an increase of 1.8%, and the rise in the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning was 11.1%.
According to the report, in general, last year, processing industry posted a rise of 0.2%, mining industry and quarrying some 2.1%, the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning some 2.8%.
According to the State Statistics Service, in 2018 compared with 2017, the highest growth in industry was recorded in Sumy (by 10.4%), Ivano-Frankivsk (by 10%), Chernivtsi (by 5.5%), Zakarpattia (by 4.6%), Zaporizhia (by 3.2%), Mykolaiv (by 2.6%), Dnipropetrovsk and Volyn (by 2.3%) regions.
According to the statistics, industrial production in Luhansk region decreased 18% last year, while in Donetsk region it grew by 2.2%, including in December 2018 compared to December 2017 in Luhansk region the decline was 27% and in Donetsk region an increase of 5.1% was seen (excluding the zone of Joint Forces Operation (JFO).
As reported, the growth of industrial production in Ukraine in 2017 amounted to 0.4%, in 2016 it was 2.4% after a four-year decline: in 2015 it decreased by 13%, in 2014 – by 10.1%, in 2013 – by 4.3%, in 2012 – by 0.7%.
