Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko appealed to the Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany to transfer generators and mobile heating units to Kyiv as an aid, according to the website of the mayor of the Ukrainian capital on Wednesday.
“I am talking with German partners about helping the Ukrainian capital and the people of Kiev to get through this heating season, which will be very difficult under martial law. In particular, I appealed to the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany to provide Kyiv with generators and mobile heating points as assistance,” wrote Klitschko in the Telegram channel.
The mayor of Kyiv also said that the Ukrainian capital will acquire mobile mobile boilers as a backup source of heat supply in case of emergency during the heating season. They will provide heat to hospitals, kindergartens, schools, and will work at heating points that the city will deploy.
The authorities of Kyiv will assist in the restoration of cities and towns of the metropolitan agglomeration, which suffered the most during the defense of Kyiv from Russian invaders.
With such a proposal, the mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, addressed the heads of local communities, the press service of the mayor reports.
“Jointly defending the capital from the Russian aggressor, we once again became convinced of the importance of our unification into the Kyiv Agglomeration Association, which we created in 2019. We united not only in the defense of Kyiv and our communities, but also in providing volunteer assistance, supporting the military and temporarily displaced citizens. I am convinced that we must join forces in rebuilding, restoring our cities and towns, housing and infrastructure for our citizens,” he said.
In this regard, Klitschko put forward a proposal to the territorial communities for help from the center of the Kyiv agglomeration – Kyiv.
“In particular, in the form of a subsidy for the restoration of facilities damaged by Russian barbarians during the hostilities in the suburbs of Kyiv in February-March 2022. Because our communities together make up a big Kyiv, and we must jointly restore and develop it,” he emphasized.
The authorities of the capital of Poland have awarded the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, the title of honorary citizen of Warsaw, the Kyiv city state administration reported.
The ceremony took place at a solemn meeting of the Warsaw City Council, which takes place every year on July 31, the day of the Warsaw Uprising, according to the press service on the City Hall website.
The mayor of Kyiv recorded a video message to his Polish colleagues and friends and thanked them for their help and support. He noted that Ukrainians today are defending not only their independence and European choice, but also democracy, stability and security of all of Europe.
In turn, Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski stressed that Poland would continue to help Ukraine. And both countries will remain free and independent states. “We are with you and you can always count on us!”, – stressed the mayor of the Polish capital.
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), together with the Kyiv prosecutor’s office, detained one of the deputy directors of the transport department of the Kyiv city administration for extorting a bribe, Mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko said.
“As long as law enforcement agencies are dealing with the bribe-taker and the investigation continues, he will be immediately suspended from duty,” he wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday evening.
“The city authorities are ready to continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to prevent and fight corruption. We constantly transfer the materials of internal audits of the Kyiv City State Administration and cooperate with law enforcement agencies,” the mayor emphasized.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko and Madrid Mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida have signed an agreement on twinning between the two cities, the press service of the Mayor of Kyiv has reported.
“Today, a memorandum of twinning between our cities was signed with the mayor of Madrid, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida. Madrid became the first Spanish sister city of Kyiv. This is a historic event for our cities and it happened during the historic NATO summit, which is taking place these days in Madrid,” Klitschko said.
He noted that when signing the agreement, several joint projects of Kyiv and Madrid were planned.
“I thank our Western partners, our Spanish partners for supporting Ukraine at this critical time for it. And I am convinced that our cooperation with Madrid will be effective and beneficial for our capitals. Today Madrid accepts refugees from Ukraine, provides humanitarian assistance to Kyiv and Ukraine. We also discussed many projects that we plan to jointly implement in the Ukrainian and Spanish capitals,” Klitschko summed up.
