By August 19, Ukrainian farmers harvested 23.4 million tons of grain and leguminous crops (+2.6 million tons for the week of August 12-19) from a total area of 6.1 million hectares (+0.6 million hectares), reported on the website of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food on Friday.
It is specified that the crop was harvested from 55% of the planned areas, while a week earlier this figure was 49%.
“The harvest of 2022 continues. According to the latest data, 91% of wheat, 96% of barley, 97% of peas, and 98% of winter rapeseed have been harvested. The leaders in harvesting are Mykolaiv region – 86%, Odessa region – 85%, Volyn and Dnepropetrovsk regions – 70% each, Kirovogradskaya – 60%,” the ministry said in a statement.
In general, 17.4 million tons of wheat (+2.0 million tons per week) were harvested from 4.3 million hectares (+0.5 million hectares), 5.3 million tons of barley (+0.4 million tons) from 1 .5 million hectares (+0.1 million hectares) and 243.7 thousand tons of peas (+4.7 thousand tons) from 108 thousand hectares (+2 thousand hectares). Also this week, harvesting of millet has begun, of which 7.7 thousand tons have been harvested from 3.2 thousand hectares.
In addition, by August 19, Ukraine harvested 3.1 million tons of winter rapeseed (+0.2 million tons per week) from 1.08 million hectares (+40 thousand hectares).
According to the ministry, the average yield of wheat was 40.4 q/ha, barley – 34.5 q/ha, rapeseed – 28.4 q/ha, millet – 23.9 q/ha, peas – 22.6 q/ha. At the same time, the highest average yield of grain and leguminous crops was recorded in the Khmelnytsky region – 62 c/ha.
In turn, the agricultural producers of the Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovohrad and Odessa regions harvested over 2 million tons of grain, and Vinnitsa, Volyn, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky and Cherkasy regions – more than 1 million tons of crops each.
As reported, in 2021 Ukraine harvested a record harvest of grains, legumes and oilseeds in the amount of 106 million tons: grains and legumes – UAH 84 million, oilseeds – 22.6 million tons.
In general, 32.4 million tons of wheat, 40 million tons of corn, 10 million tons of barley, 581.5 thousand tons of peas, 191 thousand tons of millet, 110 thousand tons of buckwheat were harvested last year. Sunflower harvest amounted to 16.3 million tons, soybeans – 3.4 million tons, rapeseed – 2.9 million tons.
Ukraine since the beginning of this season and as of November 25, 2021 has threshed 79.73 million tonnes (3.06 million tonnes more per week, November 18 through November 25) of the main grain and leguminous crops from an area of 15.19 million hectares, according to a report on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food on Friday.According to the ministry, the harvesting of grains and legumes has been completed in five regions: Dnipropetrovsk (4.81 million tonnes in total), Mykolaiv (3.79 million tonnes), Kherson (3.51 million tonnes), Donetsk (2.27 million tonnes) and Ivano-Frankivsk (0.93 million tonnes) region.At the same time, the leaders in harvesting were Vinnytsia with an indicator of 6.21 million tonnes, Poltava (5.57 million tonnes), Chernihiv (5.43 million tonnes), Odesa (5.13 million tonnes), Kharkiv (4.87 million tonnes), Dnipropetrovsk (4.81 million tonnes) and Cherkasy (4.31 million) regions.In total, 102.23 million tonnes (3.48 million tonnes more per week) of major cereals, legumes, oilseeds (as well as sugar beets dug out) have been harvested this season from a total area of 23.97 million hectares.As the ministry said, 35.07 million tonnes of corn from 4.78 million hectares (87% of the forecast) were harvested as of the indicated date.In addition, 16.17 million tonnes of sunflower (0.38 million tonnes more) were harvested from 6.47 million hectares (99% of the forecast).Farmers of Ukraine also dug up 10.53 million tonnes (0.28 million tonnes more) of sugar beet from 222,700 hectares (98% of the forecast).The ministry marked the end of the harvesting of buckwheat – 110,000 tonnes from 84,200 hectares.The Ministry of Agrarian Policy also reminded of the end of the harvesting of rapeseed, of which 2.91 million tonnes were harvested from an area of 1.01 million hectares, 182,800 tonnes millet were harvested from 77,600 hectares. In addition, the soybean harvest amounted to 3.42 million tonnes on 1.28 million hectares.The average yield of wheat as of November 25 was 4.62 tonnes per ha, barley – 3.91 tonnes per ha, corn – 7.325 tonnes per ha, sunflower – 2.497 tonnes per ha, soybeans – 2.673 tonnes per ha, rapeseed – 2.86 tonnes per ha, sugar beet – 47.29 tonnes per ha, peas – 2.419 tonnes per ha, buckwheat – 1.301 tonnes per ha, millet – 2.45 tonnes per ha.
Ukraine as of July 19, 2019 had threshed early grains and leguminous crops on an area of 6.1 million hectares (63% of the forecast), harvesting 21.6 million tonnes of grain, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has reported.
According to its data, farmers harvested 15.4 million tonnes of wheat from an area of 4.1 million hectares (63% of the forecast), 5.6 million tonnes of barley from 1.7 million hectares (69% of the forecast), 537,000 tonnes of peas from an area of 237,000 hectares (84% of the forecast).
In addition, farmers harvested 32,000 tonnes of rye from 12,000 hectares (10% of the forecast) and 12,000 tonnes of oats from 5,000 hectares (3%).
Farmers continue harvesting winter rapeseeds, having threshed 2.4 million tonnes from an area of 1 million hectares (79% of the forecast).
As reported, the ministry predicts the increase in the grain yield in 2019 under favorable conditions to 70.8 million tonnes against 70.1 million tonnes in 2018.
The USDA estimates grain harvest in Ukraine this year at 72.6 million tonnes, exports at 51.4 million tonnes.
Nika-Tera sea terminal (Mykolaiv) in the 2018/2019 marketing year (MY, July-June) handled 4.7 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops, which is 88% more compared to the previous MY.
According to a report on Nika-Tera’s website, in the 2018/2019 MY the port grain transshipment items included corn (50%), wheat (34%), soybeans (8%), barley (5%), and peas (3%).
In addition, during this period, the terminal shipped 350,000 tonnes of soybeans, which is seven times more than the figure for the same period of the last marketing year.
Some 240 vessels with grain and leguminous crops were shipped for export.
During the period from July 2018 to June 2019, Nika-Tera handled 395 vessels, and the volume of transshipment amounted to 7.25 million tonnes of cargo.
As reported, in 2018 Nika-Tera seaport handled 335 vessels, transshipping 5.84 million tonnes of freight, which is 40% more than in 2017.
Nika-Tera is a modern highly mechanized marine terminal, part of Group DF’s port business.
GRAIN, LEGUMINOUS CROPS, NIKA-TERA, SEA TERMINAL, TRANSSHIPMENT
Ukraine as of June 22, 2018 threshed 1.1 million tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops from 349,000 ha, the press service of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine has reported.
The press service said that average yield is 31.6 centners per ha.
A total of 211,000 tonnes of winter wheat was harvested from 73,000 ha with the average yield of 29.1 centners per ha, some 877,000 tonnes of winter barley from 269,000 ha with the average yield of 32.6 centners per ha.
Harvesting of winter rapeseeds continues: 62,000 tonnes from 36,500 ha with the average yield of 17 centners per ha.
Some 13,000 tonnes of peas were harvested from 7,000 ha with the average yield of 17.9 centners per ha.
