MARIUPOL SEAPORT INCREASES CARGO HANDLING BY 11.3%

Mariupol seaport (Donetsk region) increased handling of goods by 11.26%, to 5.881 million tonnes in January-October 2020 compared to the same period in 2019.
According to the website of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), during this period the seaport increased handling of export cargo by 14.56%, to 4.965 million tonnes, and of coastal cargo by almost 70 times, to 384,600 tonnes, but reduced handling of imported cargo by 43.9%, to 631,310 tonnes. At the same time, the seaport did not handle transit cargo.
In terms of the cargo nomenclature, over the ten months the enterprise increased handling of bulk cargo by 3.91%, to 130,100 tonnes, and packaged goods by 25.86%, to 4.008 million tonnes, but reduced handling of dry bulk cargo by 11.81%, to 1.743 million tonnes.
During this period, no containers were transshipped in the seaport.
As reported, the volume of cargo handling at Mariupol seaport in 2019 increased by 10%, to 6.484 million tonnes compared to 2018.
Mariupol seaport is one of the largest ports in Ukraine. Its capacity allows transshipping over 17 million tonnes of cargo per year. The port is open year-round for vessels up to 240 meters in length and up to eight meters draft. Its territory is 73.2 ha, and the length of the berthing line is 4.2 km.

MARIUPOL SEAPORT INCREASES TRANSSHIPMENT IN 2020

Mariupol seaport (Donetsk region) in January-September 2020 increased cargo transshipment by 16.5% compared to the same period in 2019, which is 5.335 million tonnes.
According to the website of the state-owned enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, the port increased the transshipment of export cargo by 17.41%, to 4.461 million tonnes during this period, but reduced the transshipment of imported cargo by 36.84%, to 489,900 tonnes, and increased transshipment of cabotage goods by more than 83.5 times, to 384,200 tonnes. At the same time, the port did not handle transit cargo.
In terms of the cargo nomenclature in the nine months of 2020, Mariupol port increased the transshipment of liquid cargo by 10.91%, to 118,900 tonnes, reduced the transshipment of bulk materials by 2.71%, to 1.599 million tonnes, and increased the transshipment of packaged goods by 27.86%, to 3.617 million tonnes.
During this period, no containers were transshipped in the port.
As reported, the volume of cargo transshipment at Mariupol seaport increased by 10% to 6.484 million tonnes in 2019 as in comparison to 2018.

MARIUPOL SEAPORT INCREASES CARGO HANDLING BY 24%

Mariupol seaport (Donetsk region) increased cargo handling by 23.4% in January-May 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, to 2.687 million tonnes.
According to the statement of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority on the state-owned enterprise’s website, during the period the port increased the transshipment of export cargo by 15.5%, to 2.238 million tonnes, import by 28.7%, to 303,620 tonnes, coastal freight by almost 56 times, to 145,100 tonnes. At the same time, the port did not handle transit cargo.
According to freight nomenclature, Mariupol seaport increased the transshipment of dry bulk cargo by 42.8%, to 827,700 tonnes, and packaged goods by 17.4%, to 1.783 million tonnes. At the same time, it reduced the transshipment of bulk cargo by 2.6%, to 76,000 tonnes.
As reported, the port handled 6.484 million tonnes of cargo in 2019, which is 10% more than in 2018.

MARIUPOL SEAPORT INCREASES CARGO HANDLING BY 5.5%

Mariupol seaport (Donetsk region) in January-October 2019 increased cargo transshipment by 5.5% compared to the same period in 2018, to 5.285 million tonnes.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, over this period the port increased transshipment of exported cargo by 1.8%, to 4.333 million tonnes, imported by 33.5%, to 946,480 tonnes and significantly reduced transshipment of cabotage goods, to 5,500 tonnes. At the same time, the port did not transship transit cargo.
According to the nomenclature of goods, for the ten months of 2019 Mariupol port increased transshipment of liquid cargo by 10.2 times, to 125,200 tonnes, dry cargo by 42.8%, to 1,976 tonnes and reduced the handling of packaged goods by 11.9%, to 3.184 million tonnes.
As reported, the volume of cargo transshipment in Mariupol seaport in 2018 decreased by 9.62% compared to 2017, to 5.89 million tonnes.
Mariupol seaport is one of the largest ports in Ukraine. Its capacities allow transshipment of over 17 million tonnes of cargo per year.

UKRAINIAN SEA PORTS AUTHORITY, COFCO AGRI RESOURCES UKRAINE AGREE TO ATTRACT UAH 1.3 BLN IN DEVELOPMENT OF MARIUPOL PORT

State-owned enterprise (SOE) Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, COFCO Agri Resources Ukraine (the agricultural exporter), SOE Mariupol Maritime Merchandise Port and STT LLC signed a memorandum of cooperation to develop the Mariupol port during the RE:think. Invest in Ukraine forum, held in Mariupol on Tuesday.
Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority Head Raivis Veckagans, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Krykliy, Director of Mariupol Maritime Merchandise Port Oleksandr Oliynyk, COFCO Agri Resources Ukraine Director General Volodymyr Osadchuk and STT Head Volodymyr Sudeiko signed the document.
“The memorandum provides for the implementation of an infrastructure project in the port of Mariupol, which will ensure the attraction of a total of more than UAH 1.3 billion of investment in infrastructure development and increase cargo traffic by 2.3 million tonnes,” Krykliy said.
According to him, within the framework of this document, reconstruction of two berths, construction of the second stage of the grain terminal and the creation of a single transshipment complex of food and liquid food cargoes are also planned.
Veckagans said told Interfax-Ukraine that, in particular, within the framework of cooperation, an increase in the cargo flow of the Mariupol port in grain, meal and oil to 1.2 million tonnes is expected.
“Today, we see an increase in the agro-industrial business [in ports], which was smaller before and this leads to a better result. Business, for its part, and our customers are targeted for prospects and we must support this,” he said.

INVESTMENT FORUM IN MARIUPOL (DONETSK REGION) TO BE HELD ON OCT 29

The investment forum in Mariupol (Donetsk region) will be held on October 29, Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk has said.
“We expect that on October 29 we will hold a large investment forum in Mariupol,” he said, speaking at the 16th Annual Meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) in Kyiv on Saturday.
Honcharuk added that it is planned to present areas in the forum that are worth investing in.
According to him, the task of the government is to minimize risks for investors who are not afraid to go to Ukraine.
“In the 21st century, those who are not afraid to take risks will be successful,” the prime minister said.
