The following won silver medals: Parviz Nasibov (Greco-Roman wrestling up to 67 kg); Iryna Kolyadenko (freestyle wrestling up to 62 kg); Lyudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok (canoe double sprint, 500 m); Ilya Kovtun (parallel bars); Serhii Kulish (rifle shooting from 50 m from three positions).
The bronze medalists were: Zhan Beleniuk (Greco-Roman wrestling up to 87 kg); Mykhailo Kokhan (hammer throw); Iryna Gerashchenko (high jump); Olga Harlan (sabre).
As of 15:00, Ukraine ranks 22nd in the medal standings.
The 2024 Olympic Games were held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
Ukrainian shooter Serhiy Kulish has won a silver medal in the final of the rifle shooting competition from three positions at a distance of 50 meters at the Olympic Games-2024 in Paris.
The athlete scored 461.3 points.
In this competition, the first place went to China and the third place to India.
This is the second medal in Ukraine’s piggy bank at the Olympic Games 2024, after the bronze medal won by fencer Olga Kharlan.
Kulish is a silver medalist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in air rifle shooting from a distance of 10 meters.
Ukrainian sabre fencer Olha Harlan won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in a duel against Korean Choi Sibin, thus winning the first medal for the Ukrainian national team in the unofficial medal standings.
The match on Monday began with Harlan’s attacks, but the Korean seized the initiative and finished the first match with a score of 8:3, bringing it to 11:5 in the second match, but Harlan regained the initiative and held a series of seven successful shots in a row, bringing the score to 12:11. However, the Korean scored two successful touches to level the score at 13-13. The final two attacks were left to the Ukrainian, and the match ended with a score of 15:14.
For Olga Harlan, this is the fifth Olympic award in her career.
The Ukrainian national team took the 44th position in the overall medal standings of the Olympic Games, which ended in Tokyo on Sunday.
A total of 153 Ukrainian athletes earned 19 Olympic medals: one gold, six silver and 12 bronze medals.
In overall medal totals, Ukraine took the 16th position in the world ranking, and also surpassed the result of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. Then the Ukrainian athletes earned 11 Olympic medals (two gold, four silver and five bronze medals).
The medal count, which is most influenced by gold medals, was topped by the U.S. team, which lagged behind leading China for a long time.
The U.S. team earned 39 gold, 40 silver and 33 bronze medals. The second place was taken by China (38-32-18). The third place was taken by Japan, the host country of the Olympics (27-14-17).
Ukrainian Olympians earned medals in Greco-Roman wrestling, artistic swimming, canoe rowing, boxing, high jump, karate, cycle track, freestyle wrestling and swimming.
