Ukrainian male and female veterans won medals at the 2026 World Medieval Combat Championships in Denmark, according to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
“From July 23 to 26, 2026, Spøttrup Castle in Denmark hosted the 2026 Medieval Combat World Championships—one of the largest international medieval combat tournaments, which annually brings together athletes from dozens of countries around the world… Ukraine was represented at the competition by the Ukrainian National Medieval Combat Team, which included male and female veterans as well as active-duty military personnel. They have already proven their dedication to Ukraine by defending it with weapons in hand, and now they are proudly representing our country on the international sports stage,” the ministry’s statement reads.Specifically, Ukrainian veterans won one first-place finish, six second-place finishes, and four third-place finishes in various competitions.
It is noted that the Ukrainian veterans’ team’s participation in the 2026 Medieval Combat World Championships is not only a sporting representation of the state but also a vivid testament to the resilience of Ukrainian veterans, their strength of spirit, and their drive for new victories.
Medieval combat is a modern international full-contact sport in which participants compete in historically accurate armor using safe replicas of medieval weapons. The World Championships include both individual and team disciplines.
The Ukrainian men’s épée fencing team won silver medals at the 2026 World Championships, currently being held in Hong Kong.
The team consisted of Roman Svitkar, Nikita Koshman, Yevhen Makienko, and Mykhailo Krasniuk. This is Ukraine’s second medal at the current World Championships and the sixth time in history that Ukrainian épée fencers have stood on the podium at the World Championships in team competition.
On their way to the final, the Ukrainians defeated the teams from Sweden (45–35), Poland (41–40), Switzerland (39–37), and Israel (45–44). In the final match, the Ukrainian team lost to Kazakhstan with a score of 40–45.
For Roman Svichkar, this is the third World Championship medal of his career; for Nikita Koshman, it is his second; while Yevhen Makienko and Mykhailo Krasniuk earned their first World Championship medals.
The last time the Ukrainian men’s épée team won a World Championship medal was in 2019, when they also took silver.
On October 24, 2025, the second Ukrainian Electricians Championship, the Schneider Electric Cup, took place in Kyiv. The Electricians Championship is a competition aimed at bringing together the best professionals in the industry and promoting blue-collar professions.
Participants from different regions demonstrated their skills in practical tasks, competing for the title of the country’s best electrician. The event aimed to highlight the importance of the profession and attract young people’s attention to technical specialties.
This year, nine teams consisting of two to four participants selected based on the results of the preliminary stage (38 participants in total) competed in the championship. The teams included participants from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, and Dnipro. They solved both theoretical tasks and a practical case study—assembling a modern professional electrical panel.

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has delegated the right of the Ukrainian national team to play instead of the Russian national team at the 2022 World Championship, according to the website of the Volleyball Federation of Ukraine.
“On April 14, HLF President Mikhail Melnik received a letter from the FIVB, which states that Ukraine will play in the 2022 World Cup instead of Russia. The letter says that there will be no new draw procedure and Ukraine will take Russia’s place in Group A under the first seeded number! ” – the message says.
Initially, the World Cup was supposed to be held in Russia, but the Russian Federation was deprived of the right to host it because of the war in Ukraine. For the same reason, the Russian team was excluded from the tournament.

Ukrainian Yuriy Zakhareev has won a gold medal at the European Boxing Championship among athletes under the age of 22, which takes place in Croatia.
“On March 23, the final bouts of the European U22 Boxing Championship took place in Croatia. Ukrainian Yuriy Zakhareev became the European champion in the weight category up to 71 kg. In the fight for the gold our boxer defeated an opponent from Wales, Garan Croft,” the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports said in a statement.
Earlier silver medals were won by Andriy Yefymovich (weight category up to 48 kg), Maksym Vlasiuk (weight category up to 60 kg) and Ivan Sapun (weight category up to 86 kg).
According to the results of the continental championship competitions, the Ukrainian boxing team won ten medals: two gold, three silver and five bronze.

The Principality of Kyivan Rus is the only place in Ukraine where the competitions in this ancient martial art take place. Horseback archery unites two sports: horse and archery. The uniqueness of the competitions is in the combination of sporting excitement and romance of antiquity, which will not leave indifferent anyone – neither the smallest children nor the adult visitors.
The best Ukrainian sportsmen-virtuosos will compete in the traditional (historical) bow shooting accuracy on a horseback at full gallop. It is an incredibly difficult task for the competition participants and, at the same time, a thrilling spectacle for the viewers.
Also the guests of the Principality will see the demonstrative performances of actors-stuntmen of the horse-trick theatre on the virtuoso possession of different medieval weapons.
The sportsmen and the actors-stuntmen will perform in a tandem with the unique horses of historical breeds gathered from all over the world in the Princely stable. Some of these horses can be seen nowhere else in Ukraine because they were brought to our country in a single number. The horses can be palmed, taken a photo with, ridden on a horseback or in a carriage.
The guests of the Principality will be not only the viewers of the festival but will get a chance to become the active participants of the event and join the merry and interesting games, contests, Slavic amusements, fiery round dances and dance flash mobs.
