TRANSPORT COMPANIES OF UKRAINE REDUCE PASSENGER TRAFFIC BY 5.9% IN 2019

The transport companies of Ukraine in January-August 2019 carried 2.808 billion people, which was 5.9% down year-over-year (y-o-y), the country’s State Statistics Service has reported.
Transport companies’ passenger traffic for the reporting period was 72.4 billion passenger-kilometers, which was 4.5% up on January-August last year, it said.
In the eight months of 2019, some 105.3 million passengers were transported by rail (local commuter train services included), which was 0.5% down on January-August 2018, while 1.203 billion passengers were carried by road (5.3% down), the State Statistics Service said.
Transportation of passengers by air grew by 10.9%, to 9.1 million people.
In addition, in January-August 2019, some 407.1 million passengers used the services of trams (9.5% down y-o-y), 465.5 million travelled by subway (1.8% down), and 618.4 million people used trolleybuses (8.5% down), the statistics agency said.
Passenger transportation by water increased by 10.3% y-o-y, to 0.5 million people.
The State Statistics Service said the report did not cover temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol and parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

TRANSPORT ENTERPRISES OF UKRAINE REDUCE PASSENGER TRAFFIC BY 6.1%

The transport companies of Ukraine in January-July 2019 carried 2.474 billion people, which is 6.1% less than in the same period of 2018, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to its data, the passenger traffic of transport companies for the reporting period amounted to 62.6 billion passenger-kilometers, which is 4.3% more than in January-July last year.
According to the State Statistics Service, in the first seven months, 91.9 million passengers were transported by rail (taking into account the city electric train), which is 0.6% less than in January-July 2018, and 1.055 billion passengers were carried by road (5.5% less).
Air transport increased passenger traffic by 11.2%, to 7.6 million people.
In addition, according to the State Statistics Service, in January-July 2019, some 359.8 million passengers used the services of trams (a decrease of 10% compared to the same period in 2018), 411.3 million travelled by subway (a decrease of 1.6%), and 548.3 million people used trolleybuses (a drop of 8.9%).
Passenger transportation by water increased by 14.3% compared with January-July 2018, to 0.4 million people.
The service said the figures are given excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, Sevastopol and part of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

ZAPORIZHIA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT INCREASES PASSENGER TRAFFIC BY 27%

Zaporizhia International Airport in January-July 2019 served more than 280,000 passengers, which is 27% more than for the same period in 2018.
According to the statistics on the airport’s website, the number of passengers served on international flights for the seven months amounted to 214,000 people (an increase of 28%), on domestic flights some 68,000 people (an increase of 22%).
In July 2019, some 51,000 passengers used the services of the airport, which is 13% more than in July 2018. At the same time, more than 40,000 people were transported on international airlines and almost 11,000 on domestic flights.
“Over the past 11 years, since 2008, when they began to systematically collect statistical data, the largest number of passengers — almost 25,500 people — were carried through Zaporizhia airport for the second summer month … In the same month, the largest number of takeoffs was recorded – 356,” the airport said.

SIKORSKY KYIV INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SEES 16% RISE IN PASSENGER TRAFFIC IN JAN-JUNE

The Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport in January-June 2019 serviced 1.332 million passengers, which is 16% more than a year ago. The airport said that the number of passengers serviced on international flights totaled 1.298 million, and on domestic flights – 33,900.
At the same time, the number of serviced flights amounted to 14,271 (arrivals and departures), which is 5.6% more than in January-June 2018, including 11,966 international flights, and 2,305 domestic flights.
The most popular international destinations at the airport in January-June 2019 were Sharm el-Sheikh (Egypt), Warsaw (Poland), Minsk (Belarus), Ankara (Turkey), Vienna (Austria), Berlin (Germany); domestic – Odesa, Zaporizhia and Lviv.
At the same time, in June 2019, the airport serviced 248,500 passengers, which is 14.8% less than in June 2018. The number of passengers serviced on international flights amounted to 241,800, on domestic flights – 6,700 passengers.
The number of serviced flights in June 2019 amounted to 2,691 (arrivals and departures), which is 9.9% less than the same period of 2018.
The press service of the airport told Interfax-Ukraine, the decline in passenger traffic was mainly due to the relocation of SkyUp Airlines.

KHARKIV AIRPORT RAISES PASSENGER TRAFFIC

Passenger traffic at Kharkiv International Airport in January-June 2019 amounted to 552,600 people, which is 26% more than in the same period of 2018.
According to the airport’s Facebook page, almost 2,500 departures from the airport were made in the six months.
In June 2019, some 124,400 people used the airport’s services, which is 9% more than in June 2018.
The most popular destinations in June of this year were Antalya, Kyiv, Istanbul, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Vienna.
As reported, passenger traffic at Kharkiv airport in 2018 was 962,500 people, which is 19% more than in 2017.

LVIV AIRPORT RAISES PASSENGER TRAFFIC BY 50%

Passenger traffic at Lviv International Airport amounted to 197,700 people in May 2019, which is 49.4% more than in the same period of 2018, the airport said on Facebook.
The number of serviced flights last month increased by 32.1%, to 1,739. Some 1,506 passengers were transported on international flights (up by 36.7%), while 233,000 people (a growth of 8.9%) on domestic flights.
In January-May 2019, some 722,300 passengers travelled through the airport, which is 51.2% more than in the same period of 2018.
The number of flights in January-May reached 6,820, which is 28.9% more than in January-May last year.
As reported, in 2018 the airport increased passenger traffic by 48% compared with 2017, to 1.598 million people.
