INDIAN PM AND PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE DISCUSS PARTNERSHIP

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a climate conference in Glasgow, the press service of the head of state has reported.
“They noted the importance of intensifying political contacts at the highest level in order to deepen the comprehensive partnership between Ukraine and India. It was agreed to exchange visits in the near future, taking into account the pandemic situation,” the message says.
The parties noted the importance of mutual assistance in the fight against COVID-19. Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Government of India for providing Ukraine in February 2021 with half a million doses of the Indian vaccine Covishield, with which vaccination was started in Ukraine. The parties also discussed the possibilities of potential co-production of vaccines.
Zelensky and Modi positively noted the significant growth of economic and investment cooperation between the countries, despite the pandemic, and agreed to intensify the existing mechanisms of bilateral interaction – in particular, to hold a regular meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Scientific, Technical, Industrial and Cultural Cooperation.
The parties also discussed certain aspects of practical cooperation in the military-technical sphere and aircraft construction.
Special attention was paid to issues of education and culture. The heightened interest of Indian students in obtaining education in Ukrainian institutions of higher education, including medical ones, was positively noted.
