The counting of votes in the Moldovan presidential election has been completed – incumbent President Maia Sandu and former Prosecutor General Alexandru Stoianoglo have reached the second round of the election.
According to the CEC press service, on Monday evening the counting of votes in the elections, which took place on Sunday, was completed. According to the results after counting 100% of the protocols, Sandu gained 42.45%, and Stoianoglo – 25.98% of the votes. Next are: chairman of Our Party Renato Usatii – 13.79%; former Bashkan of Gagauzia – 5.38%, former prosecutor Victoria Furtune – 4.45%; former prime ministers Vasile Tarlev and Ion Kiku – 3.19% and 2.06%. The other five candidates garnered less than one percent of the vote.
A total of 1,562,795 people took part in the election, which is 51.68% of the voters included in the voting lists.

The second round of elections will be held in two weeks, on November 3.
Three candidates are vying for the position of head of state in presidential elections being held in Mexico on Sunday, the Associated Press reported.
The incumbent president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is not taking part in the election, while Claudia Sheinbaum, who is favored by many observers to win, is running on behalf of his National Revival Movement party.
Sheinbaum’s rivals are Sochitl Galvez of the opposition center-right bloc “Strength and Heart for Mexico” and former member of the lower house of the Mexican parliament Jorge Alvarez of the “Citizens’ Movement” party.
Observers, paying attention to the trio of candidates, note the high probability that the new president of Mexico for the first time could be a woman.
Mexico’s president is elected for a six-year term.

A snap presidential election in Iran, organized in the wake of the death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, is scheduled for June 28, Al-Arabiya TV channel reported on Monday.
According to Iranian media, candidate registration will take place from May 30 to June 3. The deadline for campaigning is from June 12 to the morning of June 27.
The day before, a helicopter carrying Iran’s president crashed in a mountainous area in heavy fog in the northwest of the country, near the border with Azerbaijan. According to the exit poll conducted on the order of the 112 Ukraine TV Channel (112.ua) and NewsOne, showman Volodymyr Zelensky is leading in the presidential race with 30.7% of the votes, incumbent President of Ukraine gains 18.6%, while leader of the Batkivschyna party Yulia Tymoshenko has 13.9% of the vote.
According to the exit poll data as of 18:00 on Sunday, made public after the completion of voting in Ukraine, the top five candidates in terms of electoral support also included candidate from the Opposition Platform-For Life party Yuri Boiko with 10.3% of the votes, and leader of the Civil Position party Anatoliy Hrytsenko with 7.3% of the vote.
The all-Ukrainian exit poll on the order of the 112 Ukraine and NewsOne TV Channels was conducted by the Institute for Social Research and Consulting SORA (Austria) and the Ukrainian Center for Social Monitoring.
Some 26,548 people had been polled as of 18:00 on Sunday, the margin of error is no more than 2.1%.
About 90% of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Donbas are ready to take part in Ukraine’s presidential elections, Head of the All-Ukrainian Platform of Donbas, Head of the Public Council under the Ministry of Temporary Occupied Territories and IDPs Henandiy Borisichev has said.
“We travel a lot around the country and hold many meetings with IDPs. At the end of each meeting we take a so-called sociological poll, based on the results of our meetings, I can say that about 90% of IDPs plan to take part in the elections,” he said at a press conference held at the Kyiv-based Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Tuesday.
Borisichev said about 80-90% of IDPs have already received absentee ballots for voting in the presidential elections in Ukraine.
“Finally, our countrymen have realized that if they do not engage in politics, politics will deal with them, as happened in 2014,” he said.
Borisichev said the all-Ukrainian Platform of Donbas intends ask the top ten presidential candidates to sign on to a public statement pledging to help solve problems faced by IDPs.
The document will set out the candidate’s obligations regarding the support and funding of state programs for providing housing for IDPs, renewing the rights of pensioners from Donbas to pay Ukrainian pensions, ensuring the right of IDPs to take part in local elections, developing and implementing a comprehensive plan for restoring peace in Donbas and the development and adoption of a special law on compensation for victims of the war in Ukraine.
