Rauta Group has announced that sandwich panels with Cor-Ten steel cladding can combine striking architectural aesthetics with improved energy efficiency in buildings.
As noted in the company’s press release dated March 1, 2026, in 2021, Finland’s Ruukki introduced Patina sandwich panels with mineral wool filling, where the outer cladding is made of Cor-Ten and the inner cladding is made of polymer-coated steel. It also points to the patented shape of the locks, which is designed to prevent internal corrosion at the joints.
Rauta Group emphasizes that Cor-Ten forms a protective patina and does not require painting, and the service life of Patina sandwich panels is estimated at more than 50 years.
In its examples of use, the company also claims that it is possible to save up to 30% on heating and air conditioning costs thanks to the airtightness of the panels and the increase in the energy class of the building, as well as compliance with environmental criteria, which can be taken into account during LEED and BREEAM certification.
Rauta is a leader in the Ukrainian steel construction market and a member of the European Construction Industry Association. The company provides design, manufacturing, and installation solutions in accordance with current EU standards. The company is licensed to perform construction work with medium and significant consequences (CC2, CC3). According to the Unified State Register, Andriy Ozeychuk owns 100% of the company’s authorized capital.
Sandwich panels with weather-resistant steel cladding create a unique architectural aesthetic and ensure maximum energy efficiency for buildings.
In 2021, Finnish company Ruukki introduced Patina sandwich panels with mineral wool filling, with Cor-Ten exterior cladding and polymer-coated steel interior cladding.
Patina sandwich panels have a patented lock shape that prevents internal corrosion at the joints.
Ruukki Patina gives the building’s facade a striking appearance that changes color over time from silver at the time of delivery to a rich brown in a few years. This property of Corten steel creates a “living” facade that attracts attention. The rich rusty brown color with an aging effect blends perfectly with glass, concrete, and greenery.
Cor-Ten steel requires no maintenance and has a long service life. Thanks to its ability to form a new oxide film (patina) on the steel surface, owners can save on building maintenance, as the surface repairs itself without the need for repair or painting. The high quality of steel and mineral wool ensures that Patina sandwich panels will last more than 50 years without the need for special care.
Corten panels meet the highest environmental criteria, allowing building investors to earn more points in LEED and BREEAM certification systems.
The unique properties of Cor-Ten sandwich panels give the building elegance and timelessness, as well as setting it apart from the many other commercial properties in the area.
The client wanted to create a building that would respect the heritage and refer to the colors of the facades of the historic brick buildings in the area.
The result is a modern, functional building that meets high standards for airtightness, fire safety, and durability. Patina sandwich panels ensure a long service life for the building and reduce its carbon footprint.
Thanks to their excellent airtightness, the panels have improved the building’s energy rating and enabled savings of up to 30% on heating and air conditioning costs, which is very important for large sports facilities.
The building is heated using geothermal energy and is constructed from sandwich panels with maximum thermal insulation. The architecturally attractive Cor-Ten façade attracts attention, which is an important advantage for tenants of the property, which is located along the motorway.
Ruukki Patina sandwich panels give the building an elegance that blends naturally into its surroundings.
The facade of the office section, made of Patina sandwich panels, makes the building stand out and blends harmoniously with the surrounding greenery. The rich orange-brown color of the panels contrasts beautifully with the gray tones of the production and storage section of the facility. The building features a unique solution – Cor-Ten radius wall sandwich panels.

Ruukki Energy sandwich panels were used for the construction of the NOVUS Logistics Center, the first BREEAM-certified food logistics complex in Ukraine, the Rauta press service reports.
“Especially for the logistics terminal, Rauta specialists, which is the exclusive importer of Ruukki sandwich panels in Ukraine, have developed a project of enclosing structures with unique nodes that provide maximum airtightness and significant cost savings during the operation of the facility,” said Rauta Director Andriy Ozeychuk.

As reported, in the spring of 2024, Novus Ukraine LLC, which operates the Novus hyper- and supermarket chain, launched the NOVUS Logistics Center in Kyiv, built according to the BREEAM green building principles with loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The complex was BREEAM certified at the design stage, and now, after commissioning, the company is preparing the facility to receive the international BREEAM certificate for new buildings, rating Good.
With an area of more than 50 thousand square meters and a height of 15 meters, NOVUS Logistics Center is designed for 5.2 thousand pallet spaces and has 18 temperature zones – from -30 to +24 degrees Celsius.
According to Konstantin Parshin, Head of Operational Logistics at NOVUS, thanks to the use of Ruukki sandwich panels, the temperature inside the main room does not fall below the set 15 degrees in winter and does not rise above 20 degrees in summer.

The release emphasizes that the use of Ruukki Energy sandwich panels ensured the building’s airtightness up to q50 = 0.01 m3/h∙m2 and thermal resistance of structures up to R = 7.47 (m2∙K)/W, which are the best indicators for cold storage warehouses.
Founded in 2014, Rauta Group LLC (Rauta) is an engineering and construction company engaged in the design, supply and installation of sandwich panels, ventilated facades and prefabricated buildings. It is the exclusive importer of commercial products from the Finnish concern Ruukki to Ukraine, as well as the developer of a number of innovations that reduce the cost and time of construction.

Rauta Group LLC (the Rauta trademark, Kyiv), which designs and assembles pre-fabricated houses, in 2019 doubled sales of Ruukki sandwich panels, while in general the market of imported panels in Ukraine showed a 10% decline.
“The total consumption of imported sandwich panels in Ukraine decreased from 1.01 million square meters in 2018 to 0.91 million square meters in 2019. Industry experts attribute this result to a temporary slowdown in the investment activities of developers due to the general economic situation in country,” Rauta reported.
Thus, the share of Rauta of the market of imported sandwich panels has doubled, to 4.4%.
“Given the current trends in increasing the energy efficiency of commercial buildings, we expect further growth in sales of sandwich panels,” Rauta director Andriy Ozeichuk said.
At the same time, according to him, one of the challenges this year could be the introduction of regulation No. 305, which will significantly affect this market.
“In the long run, the appearance of declarations and self-regulatory organizations will create the prerequisites for the mass application of sandwich panels that comply with State Standards of Ukraine EN 14509 with the highest possible energy efficiency and durability,” the company said.
