The period of self-isolation of persons who had contact with a patient with Covid-19 will now be determined by the attending physician in accordance with industry standards in the field of healthcare.
The corresponding norm was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers by Resolution No. 928 of August 19, which is published on its website.
Currently, this period should be 14 days, with a number of exceptions, including those who have completed a full vaccination course or have been ill in the last 180 days.
The new norm corresponds to the norm on the period of self-isolation of patients with Covid-19 and those who are suspected of being infected with Covid-19 – it is also determined by the attending physician.
In addition, as reported, the adopted resolution extended the quarantine from the end of August to the end of December this year.
From September 20, transit through Ukraine within 48 hours will be possible without self-isolation, installation of the application “Vdoma” and testing, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Thus, in order to prevent the spread of acute respiratory disease COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in Ukraine, the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of September 13, 2021 No. 954 amended the resolution of December 9, 2020, No.1236.
“Foreigners and stateless persons who enter Ukraine for transit and have documents confirming departure from the country within 48 hours, are released from self-isolation, installation of the application ‘Vdoma’ and testing in Ukraine,” a statement on the Facebook page of the State Border Guard Service said on Wednesday.
The agency reported that the need to have an insurance policy (certificate) issued by an insurance company registered in Ukraine, covering the costs of treatment COVID-19, observation, and is valid for the entire period of stay in Ukraine, remains unchanged for all foreign citizens and holders of a residence permit, regardless of the country of arrival to enter Ukraine.
All foreign citizens, holders of a residence permit, as well as stateless persons must have one of these documents upon arrival in Ukraine.
In particular, a document confirming the receipt of one or more doses of the vaccine against COVID-19, included by WHO in the list of permitted for use in emergencies; or a foreign COVID certificate confirming vaccination against COVID-19 with vaccines that are included by WHO in the list of permitted for use in emergencies, a negative result of testing for COVID-19 by PCR or recovery of a person from COVID-19; or a negative PCR test or rapid test for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus antigen performed no more than 72 hours before entry.
Certificates of testing and vaccination are not required for children under 12 years of age.
“Foreign citizens over the age of 18 who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus and cross the state border for entry must have a negative test result and install a mobile application ‘Vdoma’ egardless of the length of stay in Ukraine,” the State Border Guard Service said.
Self-isolation is not used if PCR testing or rapid antigen testing is performed within 72 hours of entry and a negative result is obtained.
The decision comes into force on September 20, 2021.
Ukraine is changing the rules for crossing the border, in particular, it will oblige those entering from Russia and India to undergo 14-day self-isolation, Health Minister Viktor Liashko said during a government meeting on Wednesday.
“Unvaccinated foreigners and Ukrainians who arrived from Russia and India will be subject to special control. If they have spent the last seven days in these countries, they will be subject to mandatory self-isolation or observation for 14 days without the possibility of early termination,” he said.
“The new Delta coronavirus strain is actively spreading in Europe. A large outbreak is recorded in Russia. We propose new border crossing rules, which will take effect seven days after the official publication, in order to reduce the possibility of the spread of the virus in Ukraine. Also due to these changes, we we will be able to conduct better epidemiological investigations if a carrier is identified,” the minister said.
The Health Ministry of Ukraine proposes to oblige all unvaccinated persons entering Ukraine to go through 14 days of self-isolation or 7 days if after this period they receive a negative PCR test, the President’s Office has said following the results of a traditional weekly teleconference held on Monday.
“The Ministry of Health proposes to strengthen control when crossing the state border in connection with the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in certain regions of the world and Europe, in particular due to the Delta strain,” it stressed.
The report says that only Ukrainians under 18 years of age and persons who left the country before this requirement came into force are proposed to be released from this obligation.
In addition, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal pointed out the need to create vaccination points at border checkpoints so that everyone can be vaccinated.
Health Minister Viktor Liashko said that over the past week, for the first time in several months, the number of newly diagnosed COVID-19 patients increased – up to 3,460, which is 253 more than a week earlier.
As reported, at present, foreigners who arrive in Ukraine (regardless of which country) need to have a negative PCR result or express test conducted no more than 72 hours before crossing the border, or a document confirming that they have received a full course of vaccination against COVID-19 with vaccines included by the WHO on the list of approved for use in emergencies.
