STATE-RUN UKRPOSHTA LAUNCHES EXPEDITED DELIVERY TO U.S.

JSC Ukrposhta has introduced a new additional service for delivering small packages, “Postal Express to the United States,” the company’s press service has said.
According to the report, the service provides priority processing of departures at Ukrposhta, customs clearance and shipment of departures for direct flights to New York. Its launch took place in August and already tens of thousands of items were delivered in a new way.
The company said that during the testing of the service, for 90% of shipments the processing time from the moment of departure from any automated branch of Ukrposhta to the first scan in the USPS national mail system was from three to five days. Moreover, the full delivery time until delivery in any U.S. state, taking into account customs clearance in the two countries, for 80% of small packages ranged from four to ten days.
At the same time, the average delivery time for packages by the basic service is currently 14 days.

UKRAINIAN TENNIS PLAYER SVITOLINA LOSES TO WILLIAMS IN U.S. OPEN SEMIFINAL

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has lost to American Serena Williams in the U.S. Open semi-final and left the competition, the organization said on its Twitter account.
American tennis player Williams beat Svitolina in two sets with a score of 6:3, 6:1. The meeting lasted 1 hour 10 minutes. Williams won the 101st match at the U.S. Open and repeated the record of her compatriot Chris Evert.
Williams will play with Canadian Bianca Andreescu in the U.S. Open final.

UKRAINE, POLAND, U.S. SIGN COOPERATION MEMORANDUM IN GAS SECTOR

Ukraine, Poland and the United States on Saturday, August 31, signed an agreement on cooperation in the gas sector, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksandr Danilyuk said.
“At a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, which preceded the signing of the Memorandum, we discussed the importance of diversifying the risks dictated by dependence on Russian gas supplies, both for Ukraine and Poland. One of the steps to ensure energy independence of our state will be the supply of liquefied gas through Poland, “he wrote on his Facebook page on Saturday night.
Danyliuk considers the signing of the memorandum historically important for Ukraine.
“A historic day. Another step towards diversifying gas supplies to Ukraine,” Danyliuk said.

NEW PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE DISMISSES AMBASSADORS TO 11 COUNTRIES INCLUDING U.S., CYPRUS, ARGENTINA, VATICAN

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, by his decrees, has dismissed Ukrainian ambassadors in 11 countries. Presidential decrees dismiss Valeriy Chaly from the post of Ukrainian ambassador to the U.S., to Antigua and Barbuda and Trinidad and Tobago (part-time), Ambassador of Ukraine to Armenia Petro Lytvyn, and Ambassador to Turkmenistan Valentyn Shevaliov, the official website of the president reported.
Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Cyprus Borys Humeniuk, ambassador to Argentina and part-time to Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile, Yuriy Dudin, were dismissed.
Ambassador to Vietnam and part-time to Cambodia, Oleksiy Shovkoplias, ambassador to Morocco Yaroslav Koval, and ambassador to Jordan Serhiy Pasko, were also dismissed.
Zelensky fired ambassador of Ukraine to Nigeria and part-time to Ghana, Benin and Sierra Leone, Valeriy Aleksandruk, and ambassador to South Africa Taras Kuzmych.
In addition, Ambassador of Ukraine to Vatican and part-time to the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta, Tetiana Izhevska, was also dismissed.

UKRTRANSNAFTA CHECKS QUALITY OF U.S. CRUDE OIL, PUMPS IT TO KREMENCHUK OIL REFINERY

JSC Ukrtransnafta, having checked the quality of U.S. crude oil (the Bakken formation), which was delivered by a tanker late last week, has started pumping it into the pipeline towards Ukraine’s Kremenchuk oil refinery.
“After the compliance of the crude oil was confirmed, Ukrtransnafta began pumping oil for its further transportation through the Odesa-Kremenchuk oil pipeline to the Kremenchuk refinery,” Ukrtransnafta said on Facebook on July 13.
As reported, the first batch of crude oil from the United States arrived in Odesa on July 6. It was delivered by the Wisdom Venture tanker.

U.S. SENATE ADOPTS BILL INCREASING ASSISTANCE TO UKRAINE TO $300 MLN

The U.S. Senate has adopted a draft National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which foresees the expanded assistance to Ukraine in the sphere of security and defense in 2020 compared with 2019, the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States has reported.
“The U.S. Senate has passed a draft document proposing to expand the security assistance to Ukraine to $300 million,” the Embassy said.
According to the report, this is $50 million more than the current year’s sum. The document assigns $100 million only for lethal weapons.
“It is proposed to expand U.S. assistance in strengthening the defense capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by including coastal defenses; anti-ship missiles; and systems that enhance the effectiveness of troop control, in particular, air defense and coastal defense,” the Embassy said.
According to the procedure, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2020 will come into force after it is approved by the House of Representatives, as well as signed by the President of the United States.
