The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative in Ukraine Goesta Ljungman has reported on the upcoming visit to Kyiv of experts of the fund to discuss the 2019 draft budget, the adoption of which is a condition for providing Ukraine with funding for the new stand by program. According to Ljungman, the experts will stay in Ukraine on November 4-9.
Ukraine’s Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman will participate in a business forum in Germany that starts on November 29. “I will be happy to visit Germany in late November to participate in the third business forum,” Groysman said during his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Kyiv on November 1. Also, he recalled that a Ukrainian-German chamber of commerce started to work recently. It was created on Merkel’s initiative with Ukraine’s support.
“I think that we are now in a very good dimension of our relations. And your visit is the latest evidence that theses relations will have a very good perspective in the future,” Groysman said.
Ukraine will participate in the Third Ukrainian-German Investments Business Forum on November 29.
Around 70,000 Ukrainian tourists will visit Thailand in 2018.
According to a press release of the representative office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Ukraine, in 2017, some 61,000 Ukrainians visited Thailand. Thus, Ukraine was second in Central and Eastern Europe after Poland in the number of tourists who visited Thailand.
Head of the representative office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Ukraine Nicholas Dimitroff said that growth in tourist flow from Ukraine will be linked to the launch of direct flights between Kyiv and the post popular island of Thailand – Phuket. Azur Air by late April 2019 will service charter flights for Aneх tour operator. Thanks to the charter program the tour operator plans to transport around 8,000 tourists from Ukraine.
As reported, Ukrainians are the leaders in the world for the duration of their trips to Thailand: in 2017, the average duration of one trip Ukrainians spent in that country was almost 22 days.
In 2017, Thailand was visited by more than 35 million tourists from all over the world, which brought this country $57.5 million. Thus, Thailand took the 4th place in the world in terms of revenue from tourism (after the United States, Spain and France).
The Ukrainian office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand has been operating since February 2017.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel have discussed during a telephone conversation the agenda of the chancellor’s visit to Ukraine this autumn. “The sides discussed the agenda of Angela Merkel’s visit to Ukraine, which will be made this autumn,” the press service of the head of state reported. The parties also discussed the situation in Donbas, the prospects for continuing sanctions against Russia and the issues of the bilateral agenda, including energy security. In late August, Poroshenko said at a meeting with the heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine that Merkel would pay a visit to Ukraine in early November this year.
Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of the Euro, Social Dialogue, Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union Valdis Dombrovskis will visit Ukraine on September 13-14, where he will take part in signing the EU macro-financial assistance program worth EUR 1 billion, according to the European Commission.
Dombrovskis will meet with Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and acting Finance Minister Oksana Markarova.
In addition, he will participate in the forum of the Yalta European Strategy (YES).
Foreign Minister of Norway Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide will pay a working visit to Ukraine on September 4-6. The press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said within the framework of the visit the Norwegian minister will hold talks with the foreign minister of Ukraine.
“Important attention will be paid to the development of a political dialogue, strengthening the positive dynamics of trade and economic relations, attracting Norwegian investments, as well as effective implementation of the Norwegian government’s assistance projects in the implementation of reforms in Ukraine,” the press service said.
The agency added the ministers will pay attention to deepening cooperation to counter threats in Europe, including the ways to resolve the conflict in Donbas.
