Construction has begun on plant for processing and manufacturing basalt products in Zakarpattia

Construction has begun on a plant for processing basalt and manufacturing finished basalt products by BF “Zavod” within the “BF Terminal” industrial park in Zakarpattia.

“As part of the ”BF Terminal” industrial park, a plant with an area of over 37,000 square meters will be built, equipped with modern machinery and utilizing innovative technologies, which will provide over 120 guaranteed jobs with high salaries. This investment of over 30 million euros will ensure a stable annual inflow of up to 10 million hryvnias into the local budget and strengthen the community’s capacity for sustainable development. At the same time, the state will receive a strategic product for domestic use and export,” Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Viktor Mykyta reported on Telegram.

According to Vitaliy Kindrativ, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, the development of “BF Terminal” in Zakarpattia is an example of how the development of industrial parks is shaping a new economic reality, in which state incentives help launch modern production facilities. “Thanks to government incentives, the Berehove district is gradually transforming into a powerful industrial hub working toward the recovery of Ukraine’s economy,” he emphasized.

He noted that government funds are being directed toward key infrastructure, primarily the construction of a new railway access track at the Batyevo station. “This is essentially a transport artery that will connect the industrial facilities of the park to the Ukrzaliznytsia network and open direct access to European markets. Additionally, major repairs are being carried out on the exit ramp from the highway,” he said.

In addition, state funding covers the full cycle of energy supply, specifically the construction of a new 110 kV high-voltage power line, the construction of a modern “BF Terminal” substation, and the reconstruction of the existing outdoor switchgear. “This creates a reserve of energy stability not only for the industrial park but also for the entire regional power grid,” says Kindrativ.

According to Mikita, railway tracks and electrical infrastructure have already been built at a total cost of 316.6 million UAH. Approximately 148 million UAH of this amount was financed from the state budget.

As reported, at the end of 2025, “BF Terminal” in Zakarpattia Oblast, among others, received state funding for infrastructure development, specifically 11.908 million UAH for the major repair of the exit ramp from the highway.

Group of cocaine dealers was detained in Transcarpathia

Law enforcement officers in Transcarpathia uncovered a cocaine distribution scheme, in which the criminals disguised the drugs as washing powder and sent them to “customers” by mail, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General.

“According to the investigation, a 27-year-old resident of Zakarpattia organized a channel for supplying drugs to Ukraine and recruited accomplices to help him,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement on its Telegram channel on Thursday.

The agency notes that the accomplices helped store the goods in a warehouse, pack them into bags, and prepare them for sale.

“Cocaine disguised as washing powder was sent to their ‘customers’ by mail to various regions of Ukraine, in particular to Kyiv,” the prosecutor’s office said.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the sale of six pressed briquettes of cocaine, weighing about 1 kg each, has been documented. The approximate value of this on the “black market” reaches hundreds of thousands of US dollars.

“During an attempt to sell another batch of narcotics, law enforcement officers exposed one of the members of the criminal group, and another in his own home in Uzhgorod,” the agency said.

As a result of searches in the apartments, warehouses, and vehicles of the aforementioned individuals, narcotic and psychotropic substances were seized: cocaine, methamphetamine, mephedrone, as well as computer equipment, mobile phones, packaging materials, postal receipts, cash, and draft documentation.

Under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Western region, they were notified of suspicion of illegal storage, shipment, and sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogues on an especially large scale (Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine has allowed German company to buy intermodal terminal in Zakarpattia

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has allowed German logistics company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) to buy the intermodal terminal of Eurobridge Intermodal Terminal LLC, located in Batyevo, Zakarpattia region. The relevant permission was published on the AMCU website on August 7.

As previously reported, the new terminal will operate under the name HHLA Eurobridge Batiovo as a joint venture between HHLA International GmbH and Ukrainian investment company Fortior Capital LLC. HHLA will acquire a controlling stake and, together with its subsidiary METRANS, will continue to develop the terminal.

It is noted that the HHLA Eurobridge Batiovo terminal is located near the border with the EU at the intersection of several international railway corridors, in particular, Ukraine, Hungary, and Slovakia. Thanks to its access to standard (1,435 mm) and broad (1,520 mm) gauge tracks, the terminal is a good solution for connecting European and Ukrainian logistics networks.

The owner of the Fortior Capital group and beneficiary of the Fortior Finance venture funds, Fortior 207, and Intermodal Terminal Evrobridge LLC is Nikolai Nesterenko, former director of new business development at SCM, who in 2021 bought out Fortior Capital’s stake from his partner Alexander Kamyshin, who was then appointed head of Ukrzaliznytsia.

River port and terminal may be built in Zakarpattia

The Zakarpattia Regional State Administration (RSA) is considering the allocation of a land plot for the construction of a river port and multimodal terminal on the banks of the Tisa River.

This was reported on the RSA’s Facebook page, citing the deputy head of the administration, Myroslav Biletsky.

Prospects for the project were discussed during a meeting with the relevant departments of the Tisza water resources management basin and the State Border Guard Service.

The project can become a component in the organization of international transportation on the Tisza with access to large navigable rivers.

“The river port and multimodal terminal will be the first facilities of this type in Zakarpattia. Its importance for international transportation for the country and our region, in particular, is difficult to overestimate. We are studying the documentary base, problematic issues, communicating with all interested structures to develop a strategy for the fastest possible implementation of the project,” Biletsky said in a statement.

The construction of the river port and multimodal terminal on the banks of the Tisza was initiated by the River Ports Administration. It applied to the regional state administration with a request to allocate a land plot for the facility.
