UKRAINIAN OLVIA SEAPORT INCREASES CARGO HANDLING BY 26% IN 2020

Olvia specialized seaport handled 3.91 million tonnes of cargo in 2020, which is 813,180 tonnes or 26.3% more than in 2019.
According to the information on the website of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, in the terms of shipment, the distribution of cargo took place as follows: export amounted to 3.53 million tonnes (more by 23.9% compared to 2019), import to 303,370 tonnes (41.2% more), coastal cargo to 70,210 tonnes, and transit cargo to 2,940 tonnes.
In 12 months of 2020, progress was achieved in the processing of bulk cargo 3.54 million tonnes, which is 34.1% more than in 2019.
“It should be noted that the largest contribution to the cargo handling was made by the Ukrainian agricultural sector, because 1.83 million tonnes of grain cargo was handled, which is 48.5% more than last year,” the association said.
In addition, in 2020, Olvia seaport handled 758,630 tonnes (more by 3%) of construction cargo, other bulk cargo 675,280 tonnes (more by 29.7%), as well as ferrous metals 322,410 tonnes and coal 232,480 tonnes.
The cargo handling of the Olvia seaport operators in 2020 was distributed as follows: EVT Grain LLC 2.22 million tonnes, and the state-owned enterprise Stevedoring Company Olvia 1.69 million tonnes.
In December 2020, in general, 258,490 tonnes of cargo were handled in the seaport water area, of which export cargo amounted to 258,160 tonnes, imported and coastal cargo to 110 tonnes and 230 tonnes, respectively.
The number of ship calls since the beginning of the year amounted to 270, including 16 during December.

CHORNOMORSK SEAPORT (ODESA REGION) REDUCES CARGO HANDLING

Chornomorsk seaport (Odesa region) in January-July 2020 reduced transshipment of cargo by 6.3% compared to the same period in 2019, to 13.298 million tonnes.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, over the seven months Chornomorsk port reduced transshipment of exported cargo by 2.3% compared to January-July 2019, to 10.809 million tonnes, imported by 24.3%, to 1.735 million tonnes, cabotage by 21.5 times, to 5,500 tonnes, and also increased transshipment of transit goods by 4.3%, to 748,800 tonnes.
Transshipment of liquid cargo in the port decreased by 5.3%, to 895,600 tonnes, dry bulk cargo by 3.1%, to 9.374 million tonnes, packaged cargo by 15.3%, to 3.028 million tonnes.
Transshipment of containers amounted to 87,477 TEU (up by 23.6%).
As reported, the volume of transshipment at Chornomorsk seaport in 2019 increased by 21.4% compared to 2018, to 26.153 million tonnes.

UKRAINIAN TRANSPORT ENTERPRISES REDUCE CARGO HANDLING BY 13% IN Q1

Transport enterprises of Ukraine (excluding the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as part of the Joint Forces Operation zone) reduced cargo transportation by 13.1% in January-March 2020 compared to January-March 2019, to 140.7 million tonnes, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to its data, freight turnover of carriers for the specified period decreased by 14.9%, to 68.853 billion tonne-kilometers.
According to statistics, in the first quarter of 2020, 37.9 million tonnes of cargo were transported by rail in domestic traffic and for exports, which is 4.1% less than in January-March 2019. Some 43.7 million tonnes (17.9% down) were transported by road, 900,000 tonnes (12.6% less) by water, 22.2 million tonnes (27.6% less) by pipeline, and 20,000 tonnes (13.6% less) by airlines.

CARGO HANDLING IN UKRAINIAN PORTS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 11 YEARS REACHES 150 MLN TONNES

Cargo transshipment in the seaports of Ukraine for the first time in 11 years has reached 150 million tonnes, Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Krykliy has said.
“This volume was before the crisis in 2008 … These are not only the achievements of manufacturers, carriers, stevedores and port workers – this is a new challenge for the entire industry. Transport infrastructure must be ready to cope with new loads, and we already see bottlenecks in logistics and are working to eliminate them,” he said on Facebook.
According to him, three quarters (75%) of this amount is exported by Ukrainian enterprises, import amounts to 16%, transit to 7%. At the same time, the lion’s share of transshipment is products of the agro-industrial complex (41%) and mining industry (23%, ore).
According to the press service of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, in January-November 2019 Ukraine’s seaports handled 144.3 million tonnes of cargo, which is 18.8% more than in the same period in 2018. The volume of grain transshipment for the 11 months amounted to 48.8 million tonnes, and ore to 33.6 million tonnes.
In addition, the growth trend in container handling remains: in January-November 2019 nearly 911,000 TEU were already loaded, while for the whole of 2018 some 846,000 TEU were handled.
The ports handled more than 108.6 million tonnes for export, while 23.7 million tonnes were transferred for import, transit traffic amounted to 10.2 million tonnes.

CHORNOMORSK SEAPORT SEES 23.2% RISE IN CARGO HANDLING IN JAN-OCT

The Chornomorsk seaport (Odesa region) in January-October 2019 increased cargo handling by 23.2% year-over-year, to 21.051 million tonnes.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, during this period the port increased export transshipment by 24.4%, to 16.181 million tonnes, import transshipment by 15.9%, to 3.8 million tonnes, transit transshipment by 19.7%, to 881,230 tonnes, and also significantly raised transshipment of cabotage goods, almost by 3.7 times, to 179,750 tonnes.
Transshipment of liquid cargo in the port in January-October rose by 9.1%, to 1,377 tonnes, dry bulk cargo by 26.5%, to 14.42 million tonnes, packaged goods by 21.1%, to 5.253 million tonnes.
Transshipment of containers amounted to 111,279 TEU (an increase of 9%).
As reported, the volume of transshipment at the port in 2018 increased by 25.02% compared to 2017, to 21.54 million tonnes.
Chornomorsk port is a universal international port, one of the largest on the Black Sea.

MARIUPOL SEAPORT INCREASES CARGO HANDLING BY 5.5%

Mariupol seaport (Donetsk region) in January-October 2019 increased cargo transshipment by 5.5% compared to the same period in 2018, to 5.285 million tonnes.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, over this period the port increased transshipment of exported cargo by 1.8%, to 4.333 million tonnes, imported by 33.5%, to 946,480 tonnes and significantly reduced transshipment of cabotage goods, to 5,500 tonnes. At the same time, the port did not transship transit cargo.
According to the nomenclature of goods, for the ten months of 2019 Mariupol port increased transshipment of liquid cargo by 10.2 times, to 125,200 tonnes, dry cargo by 42.8%, to 1,976 tonnes and reduced the handling of packaged goods by 11.9%, to 3.184 million tonnes.
As reported, the volume of cargo transshipment in Mariupol seaport in 2018 decreased by 9.62% compared to 2017, to 5.89 million tonnes.
Mariupol seaport is one of the largest ports in Ukraine. Its capacities allow transshipment of over 17 million tonnes of cargo per year.
