DFC accepted for consideration first investment projects in Ukraine for sum more than $400 million

The team of Advantage Ukraine investment platform operating in partnership with the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine prepared and sent the first investment projects, totaling $430 million, to the American Corporation for International Development Finance (DFC) for consideration, the Ministry of Economy said on its website on Wednesday.
“The first five projects have been accepted for consideration by the DFC. In particular, these are projects of Ukrainian investors in the sectors of construction, production, e-commerce and residential real estate – a total of $430 million. Each of them will be evaluated separately. Also the project of crediting a foreign investor for the production of building materials for a few million, “- the department quotes Deputy Minister Oleksandr Griban from a meeting with business, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine.
He also clarified that at the moment several projects are at the early stages of processing, which Advantage Ukraine hopes to transfer soon to the DFC, in particular, projects in the sectors of logistics, deep agro-processing, energy, livestock and production of building materials.
The Ministry of Economy reminded that DFC has recently announced its readiness to mobilize more than $ 1 billion of private capital to support the Ukrainian economy.
It is noted that the Ministry of Economy and the DFC cooperate in the preparation and formation of the list of investment projects with the help of Advantage Ukraine. The project team of the initiative works with the support of the USAID Competitive Economy Ukraine Program and pre-selects projects, working with applicants.

FIRST INVESTMENT PROJECTS MAY BE SIGNED BY END OF 2021

The first projects with significant investments, which will receive state support through the “investment” mechanism, may be signed by the end of 2021, ex-Minister of Economy Ihor Petrashko said.
“After the adoption of by-laws, the Ministry of Economy will begin accepting applications … Companies will begin to prepare such projects only after the issuance of by-laws. Investors will need at least three to four months for this, so we expect the first projects by the end of 2021,” he said in an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
At the same time, according to Petrashko’s estimates, the by-law base to the law on “investment nannies” will be approved by the end of June.

UKRAINE PLANS IMPLEMENTATION OF $200 MLN DNIPRO TRANSPORTATION INVESTMENT PROJECT

The Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine has supported the implementation of the Dnipro Transportation investment project of the Ukrainian Danube Navigation, according to the shipping company’s Facebook page.
The company emphasizes that the approval of the investment project by the relevant ministry is an important and decisive step for signing appropriate credit agreements with international financial organizations.
The Dnipro Transportation investment project provides for building 16 pusher tugs with hybrid diesel engines, 31 Europe-2 class barges, as well as building and overhauls of five locations for the layover and maintenance of the fleet, etc.
The total cost of the project is more than $ 200 million.
“In the future, PrJSC Ukrainian Danube Navigation will continue to work on the implementation of the Dnipro Transportation project with international financial organizations, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine and the transport committee of the Verkhovna Rada to obtain appropriate state guarantees and work out the involvement of a wider range of international partners in the project on mutually beneficial commercial terms,” the report says.
The company also emphasizes that the implementation of the project will allow the implementation of measures to revive the E-40 river route, use the transit potential of the Dnipro River, as well as reduce the load on Ukrainian roads and railways, create orders for the shipbuilding industry and reduce the volume of pollutant emissions into the air.

UKRAINE PLANS TO PRESENT INVESTMENT PROJECT ON CONSTRUCTION OF ICE ARENA IN KYIV WORTH UAH 1.7 BLN

Ukraine at the Ukraine Reform Conference in Canada (Toronto) in July 2019 plans to present a government investment project on construction of an ice arena in Kyiv for UAH 1.68 billion, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine has reported. The proposal was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv at the meeting of the interdepartmental commission on the issues of the investment projects headed by him held at the end of April.
The commission supported his initiative to provide the first budget financing of the project now, rather than in July, as planned, in order to begin developing project documentation and have time to prepare a project presentation for the conference in Toronto.
According to the minutes of the meeting of the commission, the funding for this project from the national budget has not yet been provided.
The executor of the project is the state-owned enterprise central training sport base Ice Stadium. Its implementation is scheduled for 2019-2021, and in 2019, it is planned to allocate UAH 5 million.
