Ukraine wants Ukrainian business to have more access to European markets

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal says that Ukraine wants Ukrainian business to have more access to European markets, and negotiations will allow increasing the volume of trade quotas.

“We are talking about the further liberalization of trade between Ukraine and the EU. This will help increase our mutual trade and further convergence of economies … We want Ukrainian business to have more access to European markets, and hope that our negotiations will allow increasing the volume of quotas provided for our agreement with the EU,” Shmyhal said at a joint briefing with Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis in Brussels.

Shmyhal stressed that Ukraine intends to use 2021 for solid work, the result of which should be an actual approximation to EU standards.

UKRAINIAN KSG AGRO RAISES EXPORT OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS TO ASIA AND AFRICA

KSG Agro agricultural holding in 2020 increased export of agricultural products to African and Asian markets by 46%, to 7,770 tonnes, the holding’s press service has said.
“Last year, we expanded our presence in export African and Asian markets. In the context of the quarantine crisis, the issue of diversifying supplies and expanding the range of products supplied is especially acute,” Serhiy Kasyanov, the head of the board of directors of KSG Agro, said.
According to the agricultural holding, in 2020, the export of wheat flour to Libya increased by 3.6 times compared to 2019, to 3,000 tonnes.
It is clarified that KSG Agro exported 172 tonnes of sugar to Libya, 4,000 tonnes of corn to Malaysia, 600 tonnes of barley to Oman.
KSG Agro is a vertically integrated holding. It is engaged in pig breeding, production, storage, processing and sale of grain and oilseeds.
For the nine months of 2020, the agricultural holding received $ 4.77 million in net profit, which is 52% less than in the same period in 2019, revenue decreased by 17%, to $ 14.67 million.

Windrose to launch regular cargo flight between Kiev and Hong Kong

Windrose (Kyiv) from February 14, 2021 will open a regular cargo flight between Kyiv and Hong Kong.

According to the company’s press service on Tuesday, from February 14 to December 27, 2021, cargo flights on the Kyiv-Hong Kong-Kyiv route will be performed on Sundays from Kyiv to Hong Kong and on Mondays back.

“Windrose Airlines hopes that the opening of this program will help all market participants to accelerate the delivery of cargo both from Hong Kong to Kyiv and subsequently from Kyiv to Hong Kong,” the company said.

The flights will be operated by Airbus A330-200 P2F aircraft, which has been modified for cargo transportation.

As reported, in November 2020, Windrose signed a wet leasing contract for Airbus A330 aircraft to perform cargo flights from Kyiv to New York and Hong Kong.

UKRAINE INCREASES ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION IN JAN

Electricity consumption in Ukraine, taking into account in-process losses in power grids, increased 3.7% in January 2021 compared to January 2020, to 14.484 billion kWh, the Ministry of Energy has told Interfax-Ukraine.
Excluding in-process losses electricity consumption in January 2021 grew by 5.8%, to 11.662 billion kWh.
The country’s industry, excluding in-process losses, boosted electricity consumption by 5.2%, to 4.403 billion kWh. In particular, metallurgical industry consumed 2.349 billion kWh (1.6% more compared to January 2020), fuel industry some 296.8 million kWh (1% more), machine building industry some 349.5 million kWh (13.7% more), chemical and petrochemical some 380.3 million (14.4% more), food and processing some 365.5 million kWh (2.5% more), building materials some 190.9 million kWh (26.4% more), others some 471.3 million kWh (8.6% more).
In addition, agricultural enterprises consumed 332.6 million kWh (11.1% more), transport some 572.3 million kWh (5.2% less), developers some 107.1 million kWh (10.4% more).
In January 2021, the country’s population consumed 3.954 billion kWh (8.3% more), households some 1.517 billion kWh (5% more) and other non-industrial consumers some 776.4 million kWh (4.3% more).
The share of industry in total electricity consumption in January 2021 fell to 37.8% from 38%, while the share of the population grew to 33.9% from 33.1%.

PRESIDENT OF EUROPEAN COUNCIL CHARLES MICHEL TO VISIT UKRAINE IN MARCH

President of the European Council Charles Michel intends to visit Ukraine and Georgia in March, his spokesperson Barend Leyts said on his Twitter page.
“The President met today with the Prime Minister of Ukraine and announced that he planned to visit Ukraine and Georgia in March, to convey EU firm position on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as recovery and reforms,” Leyts wrote on Tuesday.
According to him, the parties also discussed relations with Russia.
