KYIV. Sept 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – UBC Group (Kharkiv), a commercial and industrial holding working in the field of refrigeration equipment and promotional products, has invested EUR 18 million in the first stage of a refrigeration equipment plant in Vinnytsia.
“Now we are completing the construction and expect that the first stage of the plant will start producing test lots of top-opening freezers in December. The capacity of the first stage is 60,000 pieces per year, its budget is EUR 18 million,” UBC Group President Ihor Humenny said.
According to him, after the launch of the first stage, the company will begin construction of the second one.
“After the launch of the first stage, we plan to expand the facility from 20,000 square meters to 35,000 square meters. The second stage will produce refrigerators, its capacity will reach 150,000 units a year,” he said.
Capital investments in the second stage are estimated at about EUR 10-12 million.
UBC Group has three plants in Ukraine and offices in 26 countries. The group includes several divisions: UBC Сool develops and manufactures refrigeration equipment for drinks and products, includes a plant in Derhachi (Kharkiv region), UBC Promo is engaged in development and production of promotional materials, UBC Engineering provides installation and commissioning services in food and processing industry, UBC Service renders services for reconstruction of professional refrigeration equipment, UBC Distribution sells UBC Group products and services, UBC Armature is engaged in design and installation of equipment and technical processes, distribution of industrial fittings and consumables.
KYIV. Sept 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – TIU (Canada) plans to invest EUR94 million in the construction of five solar power plants in Ukraine, the company’s press service has reported.
The company plans in autumn this year to complete the construction of the first station worth EUR14 million with a capacity of 10.5 MW in the territory of Nikopol Ferroalloys Plant. In spring 2018 TIU will begin the construction of four more facilities – three in Mykolaiv region and one in Kherson region.
As reported, TIU is owned by the Canadian investment company Refraction Asset Management (RAM).
KYIV. Sept 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – PJSC Ukrhydroenergo has signed a contract with PJSC Turboatom (Kharkiv) for the modernization, delivery and installation of equipment worth UAH 92 million.
According to a press release of Ukrhydroenergo, Turboatom will modernize hydro turbine equipment and will take part in the commissioning hydro unit No. 1 at Kakhovska hydro power plant.
The implementation of the contract is planned for 2017-2018.
The press release notes that Turboatom designed, manufactured and installed 99 hydro turbines at Ukrhydroenergo hydroelectric power stations, including three most powerful turbine pumps in Europe with a capacity of 410.23 MW for hydroelectric units Nos. 1-3 at Dnistrovska hydroelectric pumped storage power plant.
“With the aim of extending the service life by 30-40 years, increasing the capacity, electricity generation and operating reliability, Ukrhydroenergo continues to cooperate with Turboatom, implementing projects for the reconstruction of power units at hydroelectric power stations of the Dnipro and Dniester cascades,” the press service said citing Ukrhydroenergo CEO Ihor Syrota.
Turboatom is the only producer of turbine equipment for hydro, thermal and nuclear power plants in Ukraine. The geography of the company’s supplies covers 45 countries in Europe, Asia, America, and Africa. The state owns more than 75% of the company’s shares.
KYIV. Sept 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Joint venture BelTribo LLC (Belarus) for production of brake pads and linings for road transport, the founders of which are Bila Tserkva Tribo plant (Kyiv region) and one of BelAZ Holding’s enterprises (Belarus), was launched on September 22 and will become the only producer of these goods in Belarus.
“Agree that you do not launch a plant every day. The plant that you sketched, dreamed of, doubted the correct choice … but built it. In two years we will produce goods for $5 million. I am sure that our partnership with BelAZ (the turnover of $1 billion) will be successful. Belarus – industry lives here, there are talks about import substitution, new jobs!” Tribo plant owner Kostiantyn Yefymenko wrote on his Facebook page.
According to information on the website of the Molodechno regional executive committee (Belarus), BelTribo LLC was registered in October 2013. Its founders from the Belarusian side were OJSC Starodorozhsky Mechanical Plant, belonging to BelAZ Holding, with a 26% stake in the charter capital and Bila Tserkva Tribo plant with a 74% stake.
As of September 15, 2017 investments in the creation of BelTribo LLC amounted to $1.8 million.
KYIV. Sept 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Akhtyrka cheese factory (Sumy region), part of Milkiland Group, the dairy group with assets in Ukraine, Russia and Poland, has been permitted to export dairy products to the European Union (EU), the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection has reported.
According to a posting on its website, at present, 287 Ukrainian enterprises are permitted to export its products to the EU, including 107 food producers, in particular, poultry, fish, honey, eggs, milk and dairy products companies.
Some 180 nonfood producers can export products of animal origin like feathers, skins, fodder, nonfood sub products, pedigree materials and other nonfood products of animal origin.
KYIV. Sept 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has noted the ninth International Economic Forum “Innovations. Investments. Kharkiv Initiatives” is a platform for an open dialogue between the authorities and business.
“The traditional annual forum is a significant economic event in the east of Ukraine, which attracts a large number of public authority heads, experts, diplomats, representatives of international organizations and funds. Every year it provides businesses with the opportunities for finding new investment and trading partners. The Kharkiv forum is a platform for an open dialogue between government and business, for establishing contacts between investors and enterprises seeking funds to implement innovative ideas and expand production,” Poroshenko said.
He noted in his message to the Verkhovna Rada he spoke about the scenario of the country’s development in the context of “Successful European Ukraine of Successful Ukrainians.”
“I am sure that the forum is one of the drivers for implementing this scenario,” the president added.
