UKRAINIAN TOMATO PASTE PRODUCER AGROFUSION PLANS TO PROCESS 740,000 TOMATOES IN 2019

The Agrofusion Group, a large tomato paste and industrial tomato producer in Ukraine, plans to plant and process 740,000 tonnes of tomatoes in 2019.
According to a press release available on the group’s website, season of tomato harvest gathering and processing began. The season will last until early October.
“Unfavorable weather conditions shifted a start of the season on a week. Now the weather is preferable for ripening and fruit quality. Tomatoes have good structure and color,” the company said.
Agrofusion is a vertically integrated group of companies for production of tomato paste (the Inagro brand) in Ukraine.
Agrofusion Group, founded in 2005, belongs to businessman Serhiy Sypko.
Agrofusion includes three tomato paste production plants with the processing capacity of about 750,000 tonnes of tomatoes per season, as well as farms in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, processing 25,000 hectares of irrigated land, and two greenhouse farms.

FC SHAKHTAR BEATS DYNAMO KYIV

Shakhtar Donetsk beat Dynamo Kyiv with 2-1 in the third round of the Ukrainian Premier League in the capital city on Saturday, August 10.
At the 21st minute, the score in the match hosted by NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium was opened by the Miners’ forward Junior Moraes. At the 39th minute, Dynamo’s newcomer Gerson Rodrigues equalized it.
At the 64th minute, Shakhtar midfielder and Ukrainian national team member Marlos again brought his team ahead. As a result, this goal was victorious for the current champion of Ukraine.

ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER TO VISIT KYIV ON AUGUST 18-20

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit Kyiv on August 18-20 to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, The Times of Israel said. According to the publication, Netanyahu is set to fly to Ukraine for a two-day visit less than a month before the elections to the 22nd Knesset. In Kyiv, Netanyahu will meet with Zelensky and visit the Babi Yar (Babyn Yar) Holocaust Memorial Center.
As reported, Netanyahu in April congratulated Zelensky over the phone on his victory in the presidential elections in Ukraine.
On January 21, Ukraine and Israel signed an agreement on a free trade area (FTA), according to which Israel abolishes about 80% of import duties for Ukrainian industrial goods and more than 9% for agricultural goods. At the same time, Ukraine abolishes about 70% of import duties for Israeli industrial products and more than 6% for agricultural goods.
At that time, Netanyahu welcomed the “strong” Israeli-Ukrainian relations. “These ties have deep historical and cultural roots,” he said.
On July 11, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified an international free trade agreement between Ukraine and Israel.
On August 7, Zelensky signed bill No. 0223 on ratification of the FTA agreement into law.

UKRAINE BOOSTS PIPE EXPORT TO $430 MLN IN JAN-JULY 2019

Ukraine in January-July 2019 increased steel pipe exports by 4% compared to the same period in 2018, to 397,400 tonnes from 382,500, up to $430.8 million, according to a report of the state-owned enterprise Derzhzovnishinform.
Export of seamless pipes in in physical term grew by 7.3%, up to 289,600 tonnes (by 4% in monetary terms, to $364.3 million), export of big-diameter pipes was 2.9 times up, to 11,400 tonnes (by 2.3 times to $8.2 million), meanwhile exports of welded pipes dropped by 11.1%, to 96,600 tonnes (by 18.9% in monetary terms up to $58.3 million).
According to the results of the seven months ending July 2019, the volume of export of rolled stock increased by 4.5%, to 5.704 tonnes. However, exports of rolled stock in monetary term decreased by 6.5%, to $2.676 billion. In particular, the export of flat stock saw 6.9% rise, up to 3.191 million (3.6% down in monetary terms to $1.631 billion), the export of bolt stock saw 0.3% rise, by 1.71 million (11.6% down in monetary terms up to $934.2 million), flat stock saw 4.4% rise, to 169,600 tonnes (3.1% down in monetary terms, to $111.66 million).
