UKRAINIAN MINISTER OF TRADE IN ISTANBUL DISCUSSES PROSPECTS FOR ECONOMIC COOPERATION BETWEEN COUNTRIES

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv has met with his colleague from Turkey Ruhsar Pekcan in Istanbul, where they discussed issues of enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. “Within the framework of Petro Poroshenko’s visit to Turkey, I’ve met with my Turkish counterpart, the Minister of Trade for Turkey. We are talking about strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey, especially when bilateral trade volumes are constantly growing,” Kubiv wrote on his Facebook page.
“There are also good prospects for cooperation in the digital economy, industry, energy, IT, aviation and many other spheres,” the Ukrainian official added.

UKRAINE PRODUCES 940,000 TONNES OF SUGAR BY NOV 1

Sugar production in Ukraine as of November 1 amounted to 940,000 tonnes. According to the report of the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers, as of this date some 40 sugar refineries were operating in the country, which have processed 7.21 million tonnes of sugar beets.
As reported, Ukraine on August 31 started a new sugar making season. In 2018 the area under sugar beets was 280,000 hectares, which is 13% less than last year.
Ukraine exported 560,400 tonnes of sugar in the 2017/2018 marketing year (MY, September-August), which is 27.2% less than in the previous MY.
Sugar production in the 2017/2018 MY increased by 6.5% and amounted to 2.14 million tonnes. Some 46 sugar mills were operating during the season.

LAW ON “UKRAINE’S STATE BUDGET 2019” MAY BE ADOPTED ON NOV 22

The law on the “State Budget of Ukraine for 2019” has every chance to be approved by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on November 22, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksandr Sayenko has said. “We have already received preliminary approval of the draft state budget by the Verkhovna Rada, received conclusions and proposals from deputies. In the near future, it will be submitted to parliament for the second reading. We have every chance that the state budget for the next year will be adopted on November 22 and we will enter the new year without problems with financing,” Sayenko said.
The minister stressed that the state budget for 2019 is, first of all, the modernizing of pensions, the increase in pension payments for the next year, the recalculation of pensions for military personnel. This is the army budget and subsidy issues.
“In essence, the state budget proposed today by the government retains all the positive programs that we had, and the amount of funding increases for the most programs,” the minister concluded.
