Mykhailo Fedorov, the adviser to the president of Ukraine, at a meeting with the representatives of Japanese business presented an action plan in the development of digital economy and got acquainted with the proposals of the foreign guests.
“Electronic services, the improvement of state registers, the e-residency project should make doing business in Ukraine easy and transparent. We are very interested in attracting investment and advanced innovations of Japan to develop joint projects in the field of the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, Smart Cities, electronic identification, the development of R&D centers, etc.,” he said.
He noted that the development of digital economy is one of the priorities of President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Today we are uncompetitive in the world, ineffective – only digitalization of economic sectors can help us make the leap and achieve real economic growth. Together with the core business and the public, we defined clear objectives and goals until 2024,” the adviser said.
The representatives of Japanese business focused on the problematic issues of doing business in Ukraine, such as the complexity of interaction with the tax and migration services, hiring workers, etc., as well as the key interests of Japanese business [in particular, the introduction of R&D centers and various innovation projects].

Kernel, one of the largest Ukrainian agricultural groups, in the 2019 fiscal year (FY, July-June) increased sales of grain by 2.2 times compared with the previous FY, to 10.445 million tonnes. According to the company’s website, sales of sunflower oil increased by 15% compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year, to 1.6 million tonnes.
Sales of bottled oil during this period grew by 10% compared with the previous year and amounted to 131 million liters.
In the 2019 FY, the plants of the holding processed 3.2 million tonnes of oilseeds (sunflower and soybeans), which is almost the same as last year.
Grain exports from Ukraine over the year amounted to 6.1 million tonnes (58% more). Transshipment of grain at the export terminals of the agricultural holding in Ukraine in the 2019 FY rose by 12%, to 4.6 million tonnes, in the Russian Federation decreased by 28%, to 1.4 million tonnes.
PrJSC Mondelez Ukraine (previously Kraft Foods Ukraine) in 2018 saw its net profit rise by 63%, to UAH 450.6 million.
According to the company’s report, its revenue amounted to UAH 5.9 billion (24% more). Confectionery made up 42% of the revenue, cookies 24%, salty snacks 17%, the rest were cocoa products and snacks.
The share of exports in total sales amounted to 57%.
The company has no long-term liabilities, while its current liabilities for 2018 rose by 33%, to UAH 1.9 billion.
Last year’s retained earnings amounted to UAH 1.4 billion (16% less).

Russia’s Gazprom has boosted gas transit to the European Union through the territory of Ukraine by 25%, by 60 million cubic meters per day, JSC Ukrtransgaz has reported.

Cash in circulation in Ukraine as of July 1, 2019 amounted to UAH 393.8 billion, which is UAH 6.4 billion, or 1.6%, less than at the beginning of the year (UAH 400.1 billion), the National Bank of Ukraine said on Facebook.
The report says banknotes in the amount of UAH 391.3 billion (2.8 billion pieces) and coins worth UAH 2.4 billion (13.2 billion pieces) are in circulation.
The largest number of banknotes in circulation are those of UAH 200 (23%) and coins of 10 kopecks (29%).
