KYIV. Aug 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – An open data service of cities under the Apps4Cities project is to be launched in Ukraine, Head of OPORA Civic Network Olha Aivazovska has said.
“Our ambitious goal is to ensure that every city resident could have access to cities’ data available within our project, use it with the help of mobile apps and other technologies. Types of data that will be made available relate to everyday life, starting from transportation to education and leisure.” Aivazovska said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.
The data will be useful not only to journalists or analysts, but also to ordinary citizens, she said.
The project will be implemented during the second half of 2016 and in early 2017.
The OPORA Civil Network is a non-governmental, non-political and financially independent nationwide network of public activists.
KYIV. Aug 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – National Energy Company Ukrenergo plans to finish building a 750 kV Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP)-Kakhovska power line and assistant infrastructure by late 2017, acting director of the company Vsevolod Kovalchuk told reporters on Tuesday.
“For the Kakhovka generation system we plan to launch Kakhovska 750 kV substation by the end of this year and build 330 kV power lines from this substation. The whole generation system that would help to transmit electricity generated by Zaporizhia NPP will be finished by the end of next year,” he said.
Kovalchuk said that the implementation of the project would ensure additional 700 megawatt of power to transmit from Zaporizhia NPP.
KYIV. Aug 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) has finished revision of antidumping measures and decided to extend its antidumping and countervailing duty finding on imports of flat hot-rolled carbon and alloy steel sheet and strip due to dumping of them by China, Brazil, and Ukraine and the subsidizing of them by India for more five years.
The duties on the projects from Taiwan have been lifted.
The decision was made on August 12, 2016.
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will continue applying antidumping or countervailing duty on imported flat hot-rolled carbon and alloy steel sheet and strip from Brazil, China, India and Ukraine.
The antidumping duties were imposed on August 17, 2001. They were twice revised. The antidumping duty on flat hot-rolled carbon and alloy steel sheet from Ukraine is 77%.
KYIV. Aug 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The National Bank of Ukraine on August 4 registered the iBox Money Transfer international remittance system, whose payment organization is PJSC iBox Bank (formerly Agrocombank, Kyiv).
Participants in the payment system are OJSC Zaminbank (Azerbaijan) and PJSC Artem-Bank (Kyiv).
According to the NBU, taking into account iBox Money Transfer, currently eight payment systems, whose payment institutions are banks, are registered, three of them are international.
In addition, 11 payment systems, created by non-banking institutions, are registered, including one international.
As reported, in May Agrocombank stated the National Bank of Ukraine had approved the rules of the iBox Money Transfer international payment system.
KYIV. Aug 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine as of August 12 had threshed grain and leguminous crops on 9.7 million hectares, harvesting 37.5 million tonnes of grain.
The press service of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry reported the yield is 39.4 centners per ha.
Some 26.2 million tonnes of wheat were threshed on 6.1 million ha or 99% of the target with the yield of 42.8 centners per ha.
Some 9.8 million tonnes of barley were threshed on 2.86 million ha or 99% of the target with the yield of 34.1 centners per ha.
Around 757,000 tonnes of peas were harvested from 235,000 ha (99%) with the yield of 32.2 centners per ha.
Some 370,000 tonnes of rye were threshed on 137,000 ha (96%) with the yield of 26.9 centners per ha, and some 468,000 tonnes of oats were threshed on 182,000 ha with the yield of 25.6 centners per ha.
In addition, some 1.1 million tonnes of winter rapeseeds were threshed on 431,000 ha (95%) with the yield of 26.2 centners per ha.
The ministry predicts grain harvest at 61 million tonnes.
KYIV. Aug 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Agricom Group has expanded a land bank by 10,000 ha, to 40,000 ha thanks to the acquisition of a cluster on the border of Rivne and Zhytomyr regions.
The company said in a press release that the enterprises of the new cluster will plant wheat, soybeans and rapeseeds.
“This year we will start working – in autumn the fields will be planted with winter crops. Next phase is building the storage and processing capacities on the territory of the cluster,” Agricom Group Executive Director Petro Melnyk said.
Аgricom Group produces and distributes food made of grain at own production base. It unites agricultural, processing and trade enterprises.
