KYIV. Feb 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and his Canadian counterpart Chrystia Freeland have discussed the prospects of trade between the two countries after the free trade area (FTA) agreement comes into force.
According to the press service of the foreign ministry of Ukraine, the parties in the framework of the Munich Security Conference discussed the issues of Ukrainian-Canadian bilateral cooperation, in particular, the prospects of intensification of Ukrainian-Canadian trade after the entry into force of the FTA agreement between the two countries.
“Chrystia Freeland assured of Canada’s full support for Ukraine in the context of Russia’s aggression against our country,” the press service said.
Klimkin, in turn, informed the interlocutor in detail on the situation in Donbas, in particular, about the recent escalation of violence in Avdiyivka and numerous human rights violations in the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol temporarily occupied by Russia.
KYIV. Feb 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ellinair airline (Greece) in the 2017 summer season will operate direct flights on the Odesa-Thessaloniki-Odesa route twice a week.
According to the press service of Odesa airport, departure from Odesa will be on Wednesdays and Sundays from May 31 to October 4, 2017. Travel time is two hours. The flight is performed on board an Avro 146-RJ85 plane with 96 seats produced by British Aerospace.
The increase in the number of flights will increase tourism, business and cultural exchange between the citizens of Ukraine and Greece.
Ellinair is a Greek air carrier, founded in 2013. It is based at Macedonia International Airport in Thessaloniki (Greece).
Ellinair operates scheduled flights from Greece to Ukraine, European cities, carries out domestic flights between the cities and islands of Greece. Ellinair is part of Mouzenidis Group Holding.
KYIV. Feb 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food has approved the financial plan of state enterprise Artyomsol, which provides for the allocation of UAH 199.6 million for modernization of production.
According to a press release from Artyomsol, these funds will be spent on modernization and reconstruction of workshops, the introduction of advanced equipment and technology, the modernization of mine technical and technological equipment.
“A significant amount of funds, which we will spend on the replacement of obsolete and the purchase of new equipment, will allow us, first of all, creating safe working conditions and improving the enterprise’s efficiency. In addition, we continue to work on improving the quality of products and increasing the product range,” Artyomsol head Volodymyr Dolia said.
Artyomsol is the largest enterprise for production and sale of table salt (NaCl) in Central and Eastern Europe. Its production facilities are located in Soledar (Donetsk region). The company exports its products to 19 countries. About 35% of the company’s products are sold in Ukraine, and the rest are supplied abroad (data for 2016).
KYIV. Feb 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said he had achieved agreement with Poland and China to attract credits for the modernization of Ukrainian power generating companies.
According to the presidential website, the president at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council reported on his agreements with the Polish and Chinese partners on the modernization of Ukrainian power generating companies.
“We talked with my Polish colleagues about the possibility of attracting credit resources and during my recent meeting with President of China Xi Jinping on reorienting Chinese credits. There are all the necessary items for this,” Poroshenko said.
KYIV. Feb 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has ordered First Deputy Prime Minister and Economic Development and Trade Minister Stepan Kubiv and the National Industrial Development Committee to draw up the industrial production development system.
The press service of Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers, the prime minister held a meeting devoted to support of production of specialized vehicles in Ukraine.
“We need a high-quality system to stimulate own production,” the prime minister said.
Groysman said that the quality of all equipment and vehicles made and bought should be high, and production should be localized in Ukraine as wide as possible.
“The main thing that this should not be semi knocked down assembly of vehicles. All aggregates and parts should be by 60% and more made at Ukrainian enterprises. This is jobs and salaries,” the prime minister said.
When discussing the need to update the fleet of firefighting machinery, the premier noted the need for a medium-term program of such purchases.
The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Maksym Nefyodov, Chairman of the State Emergency Service Mykola Chechetkin, the leadership of the Defense Ministry and the Interior Ministry, Automobile Roads of Ukraine.
