The Irish low cost airline Ryanair (Dublin) launches direct flights from Kherson to Krakow on December 21, 2019.
Flights will be operated twice a week, Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Krykliy said during a briefing after meeting with Ryanair Chief Commercial Officer David O’Brien in Kyiv.
Ryanair entered the Ukrainian market in 2018. The first months the low cost carrier operated flights from Boryspil and Lviv airports. In June 2019, the airline began flights from Kharkiv and Odesa.
As reported, Ryanair from April 2020 will begin to fly on the Lviv-Budapest route.
Ryanair daily operates over 2,400 flights to/from 200 airports located in 37 countries. Last fiscal year, the company transported 130.3 million people. Its fleet has 460 Boeing-737 aircraft.
The Dutch low cost airline Transavia (part of Air France KLM Group) is considering operation in Ukraine, Frank Van ‘T Hof, the commercial director of Air France KLM for the CIS countries, has said at a meeting with reporters in Kyiv.
“Our central networking office is considering this possibility. But it all comes down to a very thorough calculation of this business plan,” he said.
According to him, it is important for the group to launch a product from which it will be able to earn income.
Currently, Air France KLM operates flights from Kyiv to Amsterdam on a daily basis, and also provides a number of destinations in Ukraine in code sharing with UIA.
As reported, Air France previously announced the transfer of Kyiv-Paris flights to a seasonal basis, as a result of which flights on this route will not be operated from October 27, 2019 to March 28, 2020.
Air France KLM has been the largest European alliance since 2004, whose core business is passenger and cargo air transportation, as well as aircraft maintenance.
The Ukrainian low cost airline SkyUp Airlines (Kyiv) will launch a direct flight from Lviv to Paris (Beauvais Airport) on November 9, 2019, according to the airline’s website. Flights in the Lviv-Paris direction with a ticket price from UAH 1,425 one way will depart every Wednesday and Saturday. Beauvais is an airport near Paris, to which most low cost airlines fly. The airport has everything needed for passengers: waiting rooms, pharmacies, food outlets, Wi-Fi, Duty Free. Beauvais also offers a convenient location of the terminal and a bus stop next to it.
As reported, earlier SkyUp launched Kyiv-Paris (Beauvais) flights for the winter flight program.
Hungary’s low cost Wizz Air airline in autumn 2019 will launch flights to seven new destinations: six from Odesa and one from Lviv, Paulina Gosk, corporate communications manager at Wizz Air, said at a briefing in Odesa. According to her, from Odesa, in particular, twice a week from November flights will be operated to Budapest (Hungary), Berlin (Germany), Bratislava (Slovakia), Wroclaw, Gdansk, and Katowice (all are in Poland).
In addition, on October 28, it is planned to launch the Lviv-Larnaca (Cyprus) flights.
“In 2019, 17 new destinations from Ukraine were opened,” Gosk said.
The airline expects that thanks to the increase in the number of destinations, 2.6 million seats will be sold this year, and in general, 53 destinations will be covered from Ukraine by the end of 2019, Gosk said.
As reported, in January-July 2019, Wizz Air transported 1.3 million passengers from and to Ukraine and this is almost twice as much compared to the same period in 2018.

The Irish low cost airline Ryanair (Dublin) from November 2019 will perform 113 flights a week to 40 destinations from Ukraine, which is 2 times more than the figure for November 2018 (52 flights, 17 destinations).
According to the website of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, 80 flights a week in 26 directions will be operated from Kyiv from November 2019.
Six flights per week will be operated from Kharkiv in three directions, 13 flights per week from Odesa in six directions (in November 2018, flights from these cities were not operated).
From Lviv, there will be 14 flights per week in five directions (the same number of flights was carried out in November 2018).
