Zelenskyy receives credentials from newly appointed ambassadors of four countries in Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has received credentials from the newly appointed ambassadors of four countries in Ukraine: Greece – Panteles Alexandros Dimitrakopoulos, Albania – Ernal Filo, Japan – Masashi Nakagome and Egypt – Barakat Ali Elleiti.

According to the website of the Ukrainian head of state on Tuesday, during a meeting with the Greek ambassador Volodymyr Zelensky noted the high level of bilateral relations and thanked for defense support. The President spoke about the main needs in military assistance, primarily in air defense, artillery and armored vehicles.

During the meeting with the Japanese ambassador, the President noted his country’s support for Ukraine and the development of the current bilateral cooperation, expressed readiness for further intensification of dialog at all levels, and discussed current challenges for Ukraine.

The head of state emphasized that it is important to strengthen cooperation with Japan in the security sphere on information exchange and ways of joint response to the participation of North Korean military in the war against Ukraine. “Today the situation with North Korea, its troops on the Russian side requires a response – we need Japan’s support,” Zelensky said.

In a conversation with the Egyptian ambassador, the President noted that Ukraine is interested in the activation of bilateral dialog, the early resumption of trade and economic cooperation, as well as the implementation of specific projects in the field of food security. The head of state also emphasized that it is important to involve Egypt in the promotion of the Formula World, in particular, joining the General Communiqué.

“Now we have defensive developments and are ready to develop in this direction. We have an initiative on food security “Grain from Ukraine” and we hope that Egypt will join this mission,” – said Zelensky.

President of Ukraine received credentials from ambassadors of five states

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accepted credentials from the new Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Jaroslaw Guza, Ambassador of Australia Paul Lehmann, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand Urasa Mongkolnawin, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana Francis Ashiti-Odunton, and Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda, who have started their work in Ukraine.

Congratulating the Ambassador of Poland on the start of his diplomatic mission, Zelenskyy thanked the Polish people for supporting Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale war.

Ambassadors of EU member states approve 5 billion euros of military aid for Ukraine

Ambassadors of the European Union member states have approved the allocation of 5 billion euros of military aid for Ukraine under the European Peace Facility.

The decision was taken on Wednesday in Brussels on the sidelines of a meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives, the Belgian Presidency said on its social media page X.

“A deal! EU ambassadors agreed in principle to reform the European Peace Facility to support Ukraine with a €5 billion budget for 2024. The European Union remains determined to provide long-term support to Ukraine and to ensure that the country receives the military equipment it needs to defend itself,” the presidency said.

Ukrainian president appoints ambassadors to India, Brazil and Colombia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree appointing Andriy Melnyk as Ukraine’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Brazil.
The corresponding decree № 341/2023 is published on the website of the President.
In addition, by the decree № 340/2023 Ambassador of Ukraine to Peru Yuriy Polukhovich was appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Colombia concurrently.
By Decree №339/2023 Oleksandr Polishchuk was appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to India.
Andriy Melnyk served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine from 2022 to 2023, before that he was Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany (from 2014 to 2022).
Yuriy Polyukhovich has represented Ukraine in Peru since December 2022. Previously, he served as Acting Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine (from March 10 to March 25, 2020).
Oleksandr Polishchuk has served as Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine since October 2019. He was Ukraine’s representative in the Trilateral Contact Group in the working subgroup on security issues. He holds the rank of Major General.
