Ambassadors of European Union member states supported the extension of trade liberalization with Ukraine, the Swedish EU presidency said on its Twitter page.
“The Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) has just supported the renewal of the Provisional Trade Liberalization Regulation supplementing trade concessions under the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. This will support Ukraine’s economy after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine,” the statement said.
The decision must then be approved by the European Parliament, followed by a formal decision by the European Council. The procedure should be completed at the end of May.
A day earlier, on Thursday, the “green light” to extend the cancellation of import duties on Ukrainian exports to the European Union for a period of one year to support the country’s economy was given by the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade. The vote in the plenary session is scheduled for May 8-11.
As it was reported, the problematic issue was the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products by five EU countries – Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. It was caused by the accumulation in these countries of Ukrainian agricultural products intended for further import. In this connection, on April 19, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen announced proposals to introduce a temporary – until June 5 – import ban on corn, wheat, rapeseed, sunflower and sunflower oil for these five countries. Besides, financial compensation in the amount of EUR100 million is envisaged for these countries.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Monday that he has submitted to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky nominations for Ukraine’s ambassadors to China, India and Brazil.
Kuleba said on Facebook that the Foreign Ministry has created an open search for Ukraine’s ambassadors, and the vacancy is currently open for 21 countries except China, India and Brazil.
“As a final note: you may note that China, India and Brazil are not among the list of countries. And you would be right. This is because I have already submitted to the President of Ukraine candidates for ambassadors to these countries. You will know their names after the publication of the corresponding decrees. I will only say that we plan to send to such special countries specialists in state work experience at the level of ministers and deputy ministers”, – Kuleba wrote.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, by his decrees dated December 23, replaced the ambassadors of Ukraine to the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Latvia.
By decree No. 879/2022, the head of state dismissed Vitaliy Moskalenko from the post of Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria and by decree No. 880/2022 appointed Olesia Ilaschuk to this post.
Also, by decree No. 881/2022, Zelensky dismissed Oleksandr Mischenko from the post of ambassador to Latvia.
“To appoint Anatoliy Kutsevol as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Latvia,” decree No. 882/2022 says.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with UNITED24 ambassadors the fundraising to buy generators for hospitals.
“The terrible war against our country continues, and with the onset of winter, new challenges have emerged. Together with the UNITED24 fundraising platform ambassadors Andriy Shevchenko, Oleksandr Usyk, Scott Kelly, Elina Svitolina, Liev Schreiber and Timothy Snyder, Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak we discussed further steps to support Ukraine. In particular, fundraising to buy generators for hospitals,” he wrote on his Telegram channel on Tuesday.
“After all, due to constant enemy strikes on the energy structure, Ukrainian doctors are forced to operate in the light of flashlights. We must maintain the unity of the world in support of Ukraine in order to get through this difficult period. And I am 100% sure that we will win. Thanks to UNITED24 ambassadors for everything you do for Ukraine and Ukrainians,” Zelensky said.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Miroslav Kastran Ambassador of Ukraine to Slovakia.
The corresponding decree of October 18 was published on the website of the head of state.
By another decree, the President appointed Serhiy Saenko as the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Morocco.
The musicians of the American group Imagine Dragons have become ambassadors of the UNITED 24 national brand platform and will promote the direction of medical care, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“The legendary Imagine Dragons have become ambassadors of the @u24_gov_ua platform. The group will promote the direction of medical care. And first, they will support the ambulance fundraiser launched by @FirstLadyOfUkraine,” the president wrote on his telegram channel on Friday evening.
Zelensky thanked the group for supporting Ukraine.
“In 2018, you visited our country for the first time. In 2022, you continue to do your best to make the voice of Ukraine sound throughout the world. Thank you for this!” he wrote.
As reported, on May 18, 2022, Zelensky signed a decree on the establishment of the UNITED 24 national brand and congratulated the first ambassador of this brand, the legendary Ukrainian football player and coach Andriy Shevchenko.
On June 7, the Ministry of Youth and Sports opened a special account with the National Bank of Ukraine for donations as part of the UNITED24 recovery fund initiative.
