Azerbaijan’s low cost airline Buta Airways has started servicing flights from Baku to Odesa and back, newly appointed ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan Vladyslav Kanevsky has said.
“Ukraine and Azerbaijan are getting even closer! From today, Azerbaijan’s low cost airline Buta Airways will service flights on the route Baku-Odesa-Baku. Odesa has become the third city where flights from Azerbaijan will be operated. The company is already flying to Kyiv and Kharkiv,” Ukrainian diplomat wrote last week in his account on Twitter.
Ukraine and Azerbaijan at a meeting of the bilateral working group for energy issues on June 14 in Baku discussed delivery of oil from Azerbaijan to Ukrainian and European oil refineries, the press service of Ukraine’s Energy and Coal Industry Ministry has reported. “The sides discussed the state of the implementation of a project to supply various types of oil to Ukrainian oil refineries and to the countries of the Central and Eastern Europe,” the ministry said.
The involvement of Ukraine to the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project was also discussed.
As reported, Ukraine increased imports of crude oil (foreign trade code 2709) by 36.8% or 102,260 tonnes in January-May 2018 year-over-year, to 380,196 tonnes.
The State Fiscal Service reported that oil for $205.489 million was imported, which is 66.8% more than in January-May 2017 ($123.194 million).
Ukraine in January-May 2018 imported crude oil for $194.853 million from Azerbaijan, $7.176 million from Algeria, $1.844 million from Iran and $1.616 million from other countries.
The State Automobile Roads Agency, also known as Ukravtodor, opened bids of contractors participating in a tender to build two-level traffic interchanges on M-05 Kyiv-Odesa and M-06 Kyiv-Chop highways. The press service of the agency reported that the tender to build two-level traffic interchanges was held as part of the implementation of the project of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) entitled “Pan-European Corridors Project/European road of Ukraine II, Improvement of traffic condition of the roads at approaches to Kyiv.” The tender for the work was held for the contracts, the financing of which will be carried out through a loan: lot No. 1 is construction of two-level interchanges on the M-05 highway, turn to the village of Chabany and turn to Boyarka and M-06 highway – completion of the alignment near the village of Stoyanka; Lot No. 2 is construction of two-level transport interchanges on the M-06 highway – turn tot eh village of Chaiky and turn to the village of Bilohorodka.
Seven companies submitted their bids: Fermak Insaat Taahhut A.S. (Turkey), China Road and Bridge Corporation (China), СП PBDiM Sp. z o. o. (Poland) and Ukrainian-Polish Company with foreign investments UPS LLC (Ukraine), JSC Euro-Asian Construction Corporation EVRASCON (Azerbaijan), Sinohydro Corporation Ltd. (China), Alke Insaat Sanaye ve Ticaret A.S. (Azerbaijan), Kauno Tiltai LLC (Lithuania).
