PRODUCTION OF PAPER AND CARDBOARD IN JAN-MAY IN UKRAINE DECREASED BY 45%, CORRUGATED PACKAGING – BY 57%

Production of paper and cardboard in Ukraine in January-May of this year decreased by 44.7% compared to the same period in 2021 – to 198.2 thousand tons, corrugated packaging – by 57%, to 126.9 million sq. m, according to the statistics of the association “UkrPapir”.
According to the statistics provided by the association to the Interfax-Ukraine agency, if in January of this year the production of paper and cardboard lagged behind last year by 4.6%, and corrugated boxes exceeded by 3.5%, then already in January-March, taking into account suspension of many enterprises with the beginning of a full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the production of these products decreased by 44% and 54%, respectively.
At the same time, some of the enterprises that stopped work at the beginning of the war never resumed it – in particular, due to the damage received in Rubizhne, the largest Ukrainian manufacturer of corrugated packaging, the Rubezhnoye Cardboard and Container Plant, stopped working (but its “daughter” in the Kyiv region – Trypilsky packing plant).
According to information in the disclosure system of the National Commission for Securities and the Stock Market (NKTSBFR), a remote extraordinary meeting of the plant’s shareholders is scheduled for July 4 with the issue of transferring the location of the Rubezhsky CPC legal entity to Kyiv.
According to UkrPapir, the damaged Rogan cardboard factory in the Kharkiv region has not resumed work (and does not plan to).
From the producers of corrugated packaging, Dunapak Tavria LLC, located in the Kherson region, also does not work (it produced boxes for Novaya Poshta – IF), and the Mena Pak company in the Chernihiv region, according to information available to the association, was able to resume work in May.
Zmievskaya paper mill (Kharkiv region) after three months of forced downtime in May reported the production of 1863 tons of recycled paper against 783 tons in May 2021.
At the same time, after the February suspension of production, the industry leader Kyiv Cardboard and Paper Mill has been operating since March (in terms of the production of corrugated packaging last year – the second after Rubezhansky CPC), Zhydachevsky Pulp and Paper (Lvov region) and Izmail Cardboard (Odessa region), Malinsky paper factory and “Papir-Mal” (Zhytomyr region)
In addition, according to statistics, the Lviv Cardboard and Paper Company did not stop working, maintaining the output of paper and cardboard in January-May at the level of last year, Poninkovskaya (Khmelnytsky region) and Lutsk (Volyn region) cardboard and paper factories, Kokhavinskaya paper mill (Lviv region).
As reported, in 2021, the production of paper and cardboard in Ukraine increased by 9.8% by 2020, to 898.2 thousand tons, corrugated boxes – by 5.9% to 752.9 million square meters.
Association “UkrPapir” unites 35 enterprises and companies, in particular 20 manufacturers of cardboard and paper products and printing enterprises, 11 distributors, two suppliers and suppliers of waste paper.

OF 39 CARDBOARD AND PAPER ENTERPRISES IN UKRAINE, MORE THAN HALF ARE NOT WORKING NOW

Of the 39 domestic cardboard and paper enterprises that have installed paper or cardboard machines, 23 have completely stopped their production, the rest are not working at full capacity, the UkrPapir Association told Interfax-Ukraine.
“Due to well-known circumstances, industry enterprises in the Lugansk, Kherson, Chernigov, Donetsk regions, where hostilities are taking place, as well as in the Crimea, do not work today. Enterprises that continue their production activities in difficult conditions are located in Kiev, Lvov, Volyn, Dnepropetrovsk, Khmelnitsky, Rivne, Odessa regions,” the association noted, without naming the specific names of the enterprises.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, the association continues to communicate with leading European and world companies whose activities are related to the pulp and paper industry, urging them to condemn the barbaric actions of “Putin’s bandits” in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and stop all business contacts with the aggressor countries – Russia and Belarus.
“Certain results have been achieved – some foreign manufacturers of cardboard and paper products and chemical components have already terminated contracts with consumers of their products in the country of the aggressors. Sanctions are already in effect. pulp and paper, which are inferior to the quality of the previously manufactured products of the plant, while losing nominal profit. There was a shortage of cut paper for office equipment in the retail chains of the Russian Federation, its cost increased while the quality decreased,” the source said.
Among the companies that supported Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor, the association named well-known world manufacturers Kemira, Stora Enso, UPM Kymmene.
Association “UkrPapir” today unites 33 enterprises and companies, in particular 19 manufacturers of cardboard and paper products, including notebooks, paper wallpapers and printing enterprises, as well as 12 distributors and 2 suppliers and suppliers of waste paper.

KYIVSKY CARDBOARD PAPER MILL INCREASES PRODUCTION BY 30%

The volume of commercial products of Kyivsky cardboard paper mill (Obukhiv, Kyiv region), the leader in the pulp and paper industry in sales, increased by 30.1% in January-September 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, to UAH 5.421 billion.
According to the statistics of the Ukrpapir association provided to Interfax-Ukraine, the plant has slightly accelerated the production growth rate in monetary terms compared to the same period last year (in the first half of the year it was 22%, over eight months – 29.3%).
In quantity terms, in particular, the plant increased output of corrugated packaging by 4.7% over this period, to 183 million square meters, keeping the second position in production of these products after Rubizhne cardboard and packaging mill (together with Trypilsky packing plant).
Output of base paper for sanitary and hygienic products increased slightly (by 0.3%), to 64,300 tonnes, and production of toilet paper in rolls decreased by 6.8%, to 312.2 million pieces.
The highest growth rate in January-September was again shown by production of cardboard, however, the growth rate slowed down a bit – to 13.5%, 174,100 tonnes were produced. In particular, boxboard was produced 34% more – 67,500 tonnes, and container (including paper for corrugation) – 3.4% more, 106,500 tonnes.
According to the association, in general, enterprises in the industry have increased output of corrugated packaging by 7.3%, to 554.34 million square meters, paper and cardboard by 12%, to almost 670,000 tonnes. Production of toilet paper in rolls decreased by 3%, to 518.34 million pieces.

VOLUME OF MARKETABLE OUTPUT OF KYIVSKY CARDBOARD PAPER MILL TOTALES UAH 2.74 BLN IN JAN-JUNE 2020

The volume of marketable output of Kyivsky cardboard paper mill (Obukhiv, Kyiv region), a leader in Ukraine’s pulp and paper industry in terms of production and sales, totaled UAH 2.742 billion in January-June 2020, which is 1.5% more than the same figure for the first half of 2019.
As reported, in January-May of this year, the plant’s production volume was practically at the last year’s level.
According to the statistics of the Ukrpapir association, in natural terms in January-June the plant slightly (by 1%) increased production of corrugated packaging, to almost 113 million square meters, maintaining the second position in terms of its production in the country after Rubizhne plant (together with Trypilsky packaging plant).
In addition, the rate of growth in the production of base paper for sanitary and hygienic products slightly slowed down, to 4.9% (compared to 6.7% in five months), to 42,200 tonnes, and production of toilet paper in rolls to 4.9% from 6.1%, to 229.3 million units.
At the same time, output of cardboard decreased slightly, by 1% (compared to 3.1% in five months), to 96,180 tonnes, in particular production of boxboard increased by 21.6%, to 31,590 tonnes, while container (including paper for corrugation) decreased by 9.2%, to 64,590 tonnes.

Kyivsky cardboard paper mill is one of the largest cardboard and paper producers in Europe. It employs almost 2,200 people. It sells produce to almost 700 companies in Ukraine, some CIS member states and the rest of the world.

KYIVSKY CARDBOARD PAPER MILL SEES 6% RISE IN PRODUCTION

Kyivsky cardboard paper mill (Obukhiv, Kyiv region), a leader in Ukraine’s pulp and paper industry in terms of production and sales, saw a 5.9% rise in production of goods in money terms in January-May 2019 year-over-year, to UAH 2.275 billion, according to the Ukrpapir association.
Corrugated packaging output grew by 0.6%, to 94.06 million square meters, retaining the second highest result among producers of corrugated packaging in Ukraine after Rubizhne cardboard packaging mill in Luhansk region (with Trypilsky packaging plant).
Production of cardboard decreased 6.3%, to 80,070 tonnes. Production of package cardboard alone fell by 0.4%, to 58,650 tonnes, while box cardboard output fell by almost 19.3%, to 21,420 tonnes.
Production of base paper (for sanitary products) stood at almost 33,000 tonnes, which is 4.7% up year-over-year. Toilet paper output rose by 5.2%, to 183 million rolls.
Corrugated packaging output in total in Ukraine (including other producers) fell by almost 5% in January-March 2019, to 234.17 million square meters, that of paper and cardboard decreased by 8.7%, to 213,860 tonnes and toilet paper grew by 3.7%, to 173 million rolls.

RUBIZHNE CARDBOARD PACKAGING MILL IN LUHANSK REGION PRODUCES 81.05 MLN SQ METERS OF CORRUGATED BOXES

Rubizhne cardboard packaging mill in Luhansk region, one of Ukraine’s largest cardboard packaging producers, produced 81.05 million square meters of corrugated cardboard boxes in January-April 2019, including goods from its Trypilsky packaging plant, which is 2.6% up year-over-year.
The UkrPapir association said that the mills decreased production of components of corrugated cardboard (cardboard and fluting) by 22.3%, to 76,000 tonnes.
The total commodity amount produced by both plants in the period in monetary terms fell by 12.8%, to UAH 1.565 billion.
According to UkrPapir association, cardboard packaging production in Ukraine in January-March 2019 fell by 3.6% and amounted to 319.8 million square meters.
The Rubizhne cardboard packaging mill has worked on the packaging market since 1991, and specializes in the production of components for corrugated cardboard (cardboard and fluting) and corrugated cardboard boxes.
Its most important customers are large confectioneries, juice and tobacco producers.
The Rubizhne cardboard packaging mill acquired Trypilsky packaging plant in 2002 and subsequently began producing corrugated cardboard and corrugated packaging.
