Prices for construction and assembly work in Ukraine in May 2021 increased by 16.8% compared to May 2020, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to the statistics department, prices increased in all segments of construction: in residential construction the growth was 10.6%, in non-residential construction – 15.3%, in engineering – 22.1%.
Compared to the previous month, the cost of construction of residential buildings in May increased by 1.3%, non-residential – by 2%, engineering structures – by 1.4%.
Since the beginning of the year, the rise in prices for construction work amounted to 14.2%, the State Statistics Service said.
As reported, in 2020, prices for construction work increased by 3.7% compared to the previous year, while in 2019 – by 6%.
The volume of construction work performed in Ukraine in January-April 2021 decreased 5.3% compared to the same period in 2020.
According to the State Statistics Service, in January-April 2021, the volume of construction work completed amounted to UAH 39.8 billion.
According to the statistics authority, in April 2021 the seasonally adjusted index of construction products amounted to 111.3% compared to the previous month, adjusted for the effect of calendar days compared to April 2020 it was 110.2%.
The State Statistics Service reported that in April 2021 compared to April 2020, an increase in the volume of construction work was observed in all segments of construction: in residential construction by 40.1%, nonresidential – by 4.5%, and engineering – by 2.5%.
The share of new construction of the total volume of completed construction work was 42.7%, the share of repair was 29.1%, and reconstruction and technical re-equipment was 28.2%.
An increase in the volume of construction work in January-April 2021 compared to January-April 2020 was recorded in Khmelnytsky (by 30.1%, to UAH 1 billion), Ternopil (by 32%, to UAH 766.1 million), Rivne ( by 25.9%, to UAH 754.5 million), Volyn (by 11.4%, to UAH 489 million), Kharkiv (by 9.4%, to UAH 4.5 billion), Donetsk (by 8.1%, to UAH 1.4 billion), Kyiv (by 5.2%, to UAH 2.6 billion) and Odesa (by 0.1%, to UAH 3 billion) regions.
In other regions, there was a decrease in construction volumes. The most significant drop was seen in Chernivtsi (by 50%), Kherson (by 32.9%) and Vinnytsia (by 30.3%) regions.
The statistics are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied Crimea and the temporarily occupied areas in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
As reported, the volume of construction work performed in Ukraine in 2020 increased 4% compared to 2019.
The volume of construction work performed in Ukraine in January-March 2021 decreased by 12.8% compared to the same period in 2020. According to the State Statistics Service, in January-March, the volume of construction work performed amounted to UAH 26.3 billion. In March 2021 the seasonally adjusted index of construction products amounted to 99.7% compared to the previous month, the one adjusted for the effect of calendar days compared to March 2020 was 90.4%.
The service reported that in March 2021 from March 2020, an increase in the volume of construction work was observed in the segment of residential construction – by 8.6%, engineering structures – by 9.7%. At the same time, in non-residential construction, the decline in the volume of construction work amounted to 4.2%.
The share of new construction in the total volume of completed construction work amounted to 44.5%, repairs – 27.9%, reconstruction and technical re-equipment – 27.6%.
An increase in the volume of construction work in January-March 2021 compared to January-March 2020 was recorded in Khmelnytsky (by 40.8%), Rivne (by 29.2%), Ternopil (by 9.2%) and Kharkiv (by 4.7%) regions.
In other regions, there was a decrease in construction volumes. The most significant drop was shown by Chernivtsi (by 59.4%) and Vinnytsia (by 56%) regions.

Prices for construction and assembly work in Ukraine in February 2021 increased by 12% compared to February 2020, the State Statistics Service has said.
According to it, prices increased in all construction segments: construction of buildings saw an increase of 7.4%, of which residential – by 6.8%, and non-residential – by 7.9%; engineering construction increased in price by 19%. The prices for the construction of complex industrial facilities increased the most – by 41.2%.
Compared to the previous month, prices for construction of residential buildings increased by 0.9%, non-residential buildings by 2%, and engineering structures by 4.5%.
As reported, in 2020, prices for construction work in Ukraine increased by 3.7% compared to the previous year, while in 2019 – by 6%.
The volume of construction work performed in Ukraine in January 2021 decreased 11.2% compared to January 2020, to UAH 7.2 billion, the State Statistics Service has said.
According to the statistics department, in January, the volume of construction work performed decreased by 80.3% compared to the previous month (according to seasonally adjusted data – by 14.6%), while compared to November 2020, this figure decreased by 1.2%.
The State Statistics Service reported that in January 2021 compared to January 2020, the growth in the volume of construction work was observed only in the segment of construction of engineering structures – the figure was 44.8%. At the same time, in residential construction, the decline in the volume of construction work amounted to 9.1%, in nonresidential – 6%.
The share of new construction of the total volume of completed construction work was 43.1%, repairs – 27.6%, reconstruction and technical re-equipment – 29.3%.
An increase in the volume of construction work in January 2021 compared to January 2020 was recorded in Sumy (by 0.2%, to UAH 88.7 million) and Khmelnytsky (by 128.1%, to UAH 285.8 million) regions.
In other regions of Ukraine, there was a decrease in the volume of construction work, in particular, in Zakarpattia region (by 59.4%, to UAH 22.8 million), Vinnytsia (by 55.6%, to UAH 96.8 million) and Luhansk (by 48.5%, to UAH 12 million). In Kyiv city, the indicator decreased 18.2%, to UAH 1.8 billion.
The data are given excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
