Ukraine plans to open its embassy in Albania this year, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar said during a meeting with newly appointed Charge d’Affaires of the Republic of Albania in Ukraine Fation Peni.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA), Bodnar informed the Albanian side about Ukraine’s plans to open its embassy in Albania in 2020 “which will mark the beginning of qualitatively new stage in the history of Ukraine-Albania relations.”
Peni passed the Ukrainian side Albania’s note on the opening of the country’s diplomatic mission in Ukraine.
The parties shared opinions about the preparations for the conclusion of an underlying agreement on friendship and cooperation between Ukraine and Albania, which will become the main document determining the framework of bilateral relations.
Bodnar and Peni also praised the resumption of air traffic between Ukraine and Albania from June 26, 2020 and the selection of Ukraine International Airlines for carrying out regular flights between the capitals of the two countries.
They also discussed intensification of the countries’ high-level political dialogue.
The Ukrainian Embassy in the United States is gradually restoring the reception of citizens, it will be carried out exclusively by appointment, the Ukrainian diplomatic mission said.
“We inform that from June 9, 2020, the Embassy is gradually restoring the reception of visitors on consular issues,” the Embassy said on its Facebook page on Friday evening.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland Simon Coveney, during a telephone conversation with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, confirmed his intention to open the Irish Embassy in Ukraine by the end of 2020, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reports.
“The opening of the Irish Embassy in Kyiv is an important milestone in our relations. We also expect that the Irish business mission will arrive in Ukraine by the end of the year. We need to quickly and efficiently develop trade and attract Irish investment in Ukraine,” the press service of Ukrainian Foreign Ministry quoted Kuleba as saying on Wednesday.
Kuleba also noted the consistent support by Ireland for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including in the framework of international organizations.
The ministers exchanged information on overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and measures taken by the governments of both countries to return to everyday life.
