Ukraine has allocated more than UAH 320 million for grants for processing and development of orchards

At a meeting on Friday, the government allocated UAH 320.9 million to provide grants for the creation or development of processing enterprises and for laying orchards as part of the eWork project, the Ministry of Economy reported on Friday.
The agency clarified that UAH 306.5 million of the allocated funds will be directed to the development of processing: 47 applicants will receive grants – 40 legal entities, 5 sole proprietors and two individuals who intend to carry out entrepreneurial activities in the electrical equipment and non-metal mineral products industries.
UAH 14.5 million were allocated for grants for the development of horticulture. They will be received by three farms that plan to plant 40 hectares of land with orchards, raspberries, pigeons and blueberries.
As First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko noted, entrepreneurs who receive the allocated funds will be able to create more than 900 permanent and seasonal jobs when implementing their business projects.
“In general, we have already transferred more than UAH 220 million to grant recipients in various areas of eWork,” Sviridenko said.

MHP CHARITABLE FOUNDATION WILL ALLOCATE MORE THAN UAH 3 MLN FOR GRANTS TO SMALL ENTREPRENEURS

Charitable Foundation (CF) “MHP-Gromade” launched a program to help small businesses in 11 regions of the country, as a result of the competitive selection of business plans, entrepreneurs will be able to receive 50-100 thousand UAH for the implementation of their start-ups.
Representatives of the MHP-Gromade charitable foundation, which is part of the MHP agricultural holding, announced the launch of the corresponding competition during a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Monday.
It is specified that this project is being implemented annually, however, in the context of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the fund plans to focus on grants for internally displaced persons, military personnel and their relatives, as well as people who have lost their homes due to the Russian invasion.
“For the first time, MHP launched this competition in 2016. During this time, 250 business ideas worth over UAH 11 million were supported. In 2021, this project was implemented by MHP-Gromade in partnership with the United Nations Development Program in the country and with the support of the Government of Sweden “, – said the director of the BF Tatyana Volochay.
According to her, in 2022 the competition is held in 11 regions of the country – Vinnitsa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Cherkasy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Chernihiv, Sumy and Volyn regions.
Representatives of the fund will rob the most viable startups twice a month and issue grants to their authors for the implementation of the project.
The implementation of this project will contribute to the development of the Ukrainian economy, replenish the state budget and help the Ukrainian army, form a business asset in small towns and villages, and motivate the growth of entrepreneurship.
MHP is the largest chicken producer in Ukraine. It is also engaged in the production of cereals, sunflower oil, meat processing products. On the European market, MHP supplies chilled half-carcasses of chickens, which are processed, including at its enterprises in the Netherlands and Slovakia. In February 2019, the agricultural holding completed the acquisition of the Slovenian company Perutnina Ptuj.
MHP generated $393 million in net profit in 2021 against a net loss of $133 million in 2020, while its revenue grew by 25% to $2.37 billion.
The founder, majority shareholder and head of the board of MHP is Ukrainian businessman Yuriy Kosyuk.

STAND UP FOR UKRAINE RAISED $4.6 BILLION IN GRANTS AND $5.5 BILLION IN LOANS TO HELP UKRAINIAN CITIZENS

$4.6 billion (EUR4.1 billion) grants and $5.5 billion (EUR5 billion) loans following the Stand Up for Ukraine fundraising campaign will be used to support 4.4 million Ukrainian refugees in European countries and 6.5 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine, according to Global Citizen, one of the organizers of the action.
According to his press release, the European Commission – $1.1 billion, Canada – $80 million, Belgium – $904 million, Croatia – $111 million, Czech Republic – $222 million, Estonia – $0, in particular, announced their commitments and donations. 11 million, Finland – $778 million, Ireland – $58 million, Italy – $400 million, Malta – $0.06 million, Slovakia – $595 million, Sweden – $333 million, Qatar – $5 million.
In addition, the Development Bank of the Council of Europe made a statement on loans in the amount of $1.1 billion, and the European Investment Bank – in the amount of $4.4 billion (they still require the approval of the board of directors).
In addition, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development confirmed that it will allocate $1.1 billion of a previously announced $2.25 billion package on March 9 specifically for projects in crisis-hit municipalities, the report said.
In a statement from the European Commission, it was previously specified that out of EUR9.1 billion, EUR1.8 billion are intended for internally displaced persons in Ukraine, and EUR7.3 billion for the accommodation of refugees in EU member states and neighboring countries.
Global Citizen points out that the Stand Up for Ukraine fundraising event was organized in partnership with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, with the participation of Polish President Andrzej Duda.

EU GRANTS ADDITIONAL EUR500 MLN TO UKRAINE

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has announced an additional EUR500 million for Ukraine, he said this at a press conference following a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday.
He said he was pleased to announce that they had reached a political agreement on an additional EUR500 million within the European peacebuilding opportunities. He added they would continue to support Ukraine economically, financially, with humanitarian aid, and support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to Borrell, all member states remain extremely united in supporting Ukraine diplomatically in the international arena, will continue to isolate Russia, call for accountability for war crimes, for violations of international and humanitarian law.
He also said that the EU regards what is happening in Ukraine as large-scale war crimes committed by the Russian armed forces against the Ukrainian people. And this will not remain unpunished. Therefore, they welcome the commission established by the UN Human Rights Council. They welcome the investigation (into these crimes) by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, the high representative said.
In this regard, he stated that the ministers call on Russia to comply with the decision of the International Court of Justice, according to which it must stop the invasion of Ukraine. Borrell also assured that the EU is ready for further restrictive measures, in coordination with their partners, in order to continue to put pressure on Russia.

EUROPEAN COMMISSION GIVES EUR 50 MLN IN GRANTS TO UKRAINIAN FARMERS

The European Commission has provided EUR 50 million in grants to support Ukrainian farmers for two years, Deputy Director-General for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement of the European Commission Katarína Mathernová has said.
She said at the Ukraine 30 Land forum on Monday that the European Commission has allocated EUR 50 million in grants, which will be distributed during two years, to support small farmers to help them acquire land.

UKRAINIAN STARTUP FUND STARTS TO ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FOR GRANTS IN A MONTH

The Ukrainian Startup Fund will start accepting applications from startups in November 2019, and plans to hold a pitch event in December, member of the fund’s supervisory board Lesia Sevruk has told Interfax-Ukraine. “At present, a portal is being developed through which applications will be submitted. Accordingly, they are not yet available. Submitting applications through the portal is fundamental for us to minimize the subjective influence of the fund’s employees on the selection process. We plan to receive applications in November, and an event in December,” she said.
According to her, the fund’s supervisory board has approved the procedure for issuing grants and regulations on the commission and expert council.
“In the near future we will form a commission and an expert council,” Sevruk added.
As reported, the Ukrainian Startup Fund with a budget of UAH 400 million was launched in July 2019. The fund plans to give grants to startups at an early stage in the amount of $25,000 to $75,000. The fund announced the first five transactions by the end of 2019.
