GGF WILL ISSUE EUR 9 MLN TO NORWEGIAN SCATEC SOLAR FOR BUILDING SOLAR PLANT NEAR KYIV

The Green for Growth Fund (GGF) will provide the Norwegian company Scatec Solar, represented by Scatec Solar ASA, with a loan of EUR 9 million for the construction of a 45 MW solar power plant near Bohuslav (Kyiv region).
According to a press release from GGF, this year this is the second major investment by the Norwegian company in the renewable energy fund in Ukraine. The first one was the project of the 250 MW wind farm Syvash (Kherson region).
In general, the fund’s investments in Ukraine amount to almost EUR63 million. This project will contribute to the country’s strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in its total supply to 25% by 2035, the fund said in a press release.
The Green for Growth Fund finances renewable energy projects aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions in 19 countries of South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Ukraine, Moldova, the Middle East and North Africa.

NINE-STOREY BUSINESS CENTER UNDER THE SPACES BRAND TO OPEN IN KYIV

British-based IWG Plc, which provides rental services for office space and temporary workplaces, plans to open a nine-storey office space under the Spaces brand in the Maidan Plaza business center (Kyiv). “In 2019, the first center of the global network of creative space for work Spaces will open in Kyiv. The Maidan Plaza business center was chosen as the location. The space of 6,100 square meters for 600 workplaces will occupy nine floors at once. The official opening of the first stage of the premises is scheduled for August,” according to a press release from Spaces in Ukraine.
According to the report, one of the key components of the Spaces concept are also regular events – both business and lifestyle. The goal is not only to provide new opportunities for development, but also inspire the creation of ideas, encourage the use of non-standard approaches in solving daily operational problems, and promote networking.
The Spaces brand was founded in 2006 and is managed by IWG. The Spaces premises are located in 39 countries of the world (including the Netherlands, the United States and Australia) and 150 locations. The format of Spaces offices is designed to promote the active development of business – from entrepreneurs and startups to major corporations.

FIVE DOCUMENTS ON COOPERATION BETWEEN KYIV AND BRUSSELS TO BE SIGNED SUMMIT

Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the European Union Mykola Tochytsky has announced the signing of five documents on cooperation between Kyiv and Brussels at the Ukraine-EU summit. “There will be five documents,” Tochytsky said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday. According to him, in particular, the documents will concern technical cooperation programs regarding the implementation of the Association Agreement with the EU, as well as decentralization and the fight against corruption.
In addition, a document on the work of infrastructure projects in Donbas is to be signed.
“The EU sent a group of experts who traveled from Mariupol to Zaporizhia and offered a project sum of 10 million for infrastructure projects, opening a special EU office in Mariupol,” said Tochytsky.

NEW DOLPHINARIUM WITH HOTEL TO BE BUILT IN KYIV

The new Nemo dolphinarium with a hotel is being built a land parcel of around 1 ha near Art Mall shopping and entertainment center located at 37, Zabolotnoho Street in Kyiv.
“Nemo dolphinarium will open at the parking area in six months. It moved. We sold 1 hectare of land and, not mobile, as previously it was at VDNG, but full-function dolphinarium and a hotel are being built… The facility was designed and construction is underway,” A Sky LLC Head and Director General of the Sky Mall shopping center Yulia Vanchenko said at the CP Round Table “Retail Property of Ukraine: the Market is on the Rise”.
She said that she took part in the launch and development of the Art Mall project.
Vanchenko said that the location of the Art Mall shopping and entertainment center is not good in terms of traffic: there are no houses, the subway nearby.
In this regard, as she said, a few years ago it was decided to change the concept of the shopping and entertainment center: the “children’s world” direction was chosen as the key one, and the facility increased its performance.
“The shopping gallery worked for three years, and we reformatted it into a new business focused on children, also new to Ukraine…” Vanchenko said, adding that Planet Toys, Kids Will, Kids Island, wow park, Reserved and LC Waikiki with large children’s departments, Luxoptika Kids are operating now.
“Now the Art Mall shopping center is improving the composition of neighbors around it, and thus the traffic of regular customers,” she said.

CONSTITUTION DAY TO BE CELEBRATED NEAR KYIV

On June, 28, 29 and 30 «The Kyivan Rus Park» invites to celebrate the Constitution Day of Ukraine in a place where our statehood was born, and to spend the holidays and weekends in fresh air with thrilling medieval amusements, horse-trick shows, horse riding and tasty dishes prepared on a bonfire.
To the Constitution Day of Ukraine, on June, 28 the citizens of Ancient Kyiv have prepared an interesting program with theatrical stagings on the ancient Slavic theme and horse-trick performances. On June, 29 and 30 the «Historical Fashion» ethno-festival will take place in Ancient Kyiv. During these days the guests will see a wide variety of historical costumes – from an ordinary citizen to the great prince and princess. Combat ammunition will also be demonstrated, the armor and weapon of different epochs and nations: from Scythians to Cumans, Hungarians, from the legendary Amazons to the knights of the Medieval Europe.
Also the traditional horse ammunition will be shown to the guests. In these days the demonstrative performances on the medieval weapon possession on horseback and on the combat trick riding.
Also the visitors will see the horseback archery tournament: on a horseback at full gallop the sportsmen will compete in the real medieval archery accuracy.
The bright show with the fire balls shooting from the Trebuchet – the only working siege weapon in Ukraine will be the culmination of the holiday program on June, 28 and 29.

Ancient Kyiv opens at 10:00. The program starts at 13:30.

PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE DISCUSSES WITH OWNER OF VIBER OPENING COMPANY’S OFFICE IN KYIV

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and founder of the Japanese Internet company Rakuten Hiroshi Mikitani have discussed plans to enhance the company’s presence in Ukraine, in particular the expansion of the office in Odesa and the opening of a new office in Kyiv. Zelensky and Mikitani met on June 25, the presidential website said.
In Ukraine, Rakuten is best known as the owner of the Viber service.
Hiroshi Mikitani says Ukraine is a priority market for Rakuten. He expressed his willingness to support the idea of increasing the number of investment projects from Japan.
He also approvingly responded to Zelensky’s initiative “The State in a Smartphone” and expressed a desire to cooperate closely under this project, since Viber is an integral part of the smartphone of most Ukrainians.
Following the meeting, Zelensky invited Mikitani to join the National Investment Council whose secretary is IT entrepreneur David Arakhamia.
