PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE: OUR DUTY IS TO MAKE BABYN YAR PLACE OF MEMORY, NOT OBLIVION

Modern generations cannot change history, but they can adequately honor the memory of all the victims, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said at the opening of the Ukraine 30. Humanitarian Policy forum in Kyiv on Tuesday, commenting on the development of National Historical Memorial Preserve Babyn Yar.
“Babyn Yar is a terrible symbol of the Holocaust on our Ukrainian land. We cannot get rid of it, but we can win by honoring the memory of all victims, all those who died. The issue of historical justice is very acute. We are responsible to all past and all future generations for the historical justice,” he said.
The president said that during the Second World War, 1.5 million Ukrainian Jews were executed, and about 100,000 people in Babyn Yar.
“We have no right to forget about it and we will not forget. It is extremely important for Ukraine worthy, high-level honoring of all the victims of this tragedy,” he said.
Zelensky said that at the end of 2020 he signed a decree on measures concerning the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy and additional measures for the further development of National Historical Memorial Preserve Babyn Yar. In particular, the construction of the territory of this reserve continues, new facilities have been created, invitations have been sent out and many foreign guests are expected to attend events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy, which will take place in September 2021.
“Our duty is to make Babyn Yar a place of memory, not a place of oblivion. There should not be a shooting gallery or any other complex. We, as a state, strive to make this place worthy of the memory of more than 100,000 victims of the Holocaust. It is very important that these aspirations are shared by our community. I am sure that all Ukrainians share,” he said.

U.S. ADMINISTRATION TO ANNOUNCE DATES OF UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO WASHINGTON SOON

The U.S. administration will soon announce the dates of the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.
“The dates are not yet known. We were offered the end of July, but we have not yet received specific days when this visit will take place. However, we are waiting for confirmation of the date soon. The U.S. administration is already actively working with us to prepare this visit,” Kuleba told journalists on the sidelines of the Ukraine 30. International Relations forum in Kyiv on Monday.
According to him, the focus of the visit will be the issue of security, that is, the Normandy format, Donbas, Crimea, the issue of U.S. investments in Ukraine and the trade development, as well as the issue of reforms in Ukraine.
“But besides the meeting with the U.S. administration, there will be many other events. There will be contacts through the IMF, there will be meetings with the community, with American business. Therefore, this is not just a visit to President Biden – this is a visit to the United States in a broad sense,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs said.
As reported, Biden invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit Washington this summer.

ZELENSKY SIGNS LAW ON SALE OF STATE AND MUNICIPAL LAND PLOTS AT ELECTRONIC AUCTIONS

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed law No. 2195 on amending the Land Code of Ukraine and the law “On land lease” regarding the sale of state and municipal land plots or rights to them at electronic auctions, the parliament’s website said on Thursday.
Law No. 2195, which the parliament adopted on May 18, ensures publicity and transparency of the sale and transfer for use of land plots of state and communal property in the electronic system of auctions conducted on the Internet in the format of an auction in real time.
The document specifies that land tenders will be held in accordance with the agreement between the organizer of the tenders and the operator of the electronic platform. The decision to hold a land auction will be made by their organizer, indicating the starting price of the lot, the term and other conditions for the use of the land plot, as well as the person authorized by him to conclude the relevant contract.
The amount of remuneration to the operator of the electronic platform, the procedure for its payment and return, as well as other details of the organization of land auctions will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in the future in accordance with the established procedure.
Based on the results of the auction, a contract of purchase and sale, lease, development rights or inheritance of the land will be concluded with the participant who offered the highest price (price offer) for the land plot or the highest payment for its use.
As reported, according to the explanatory note to the document, the adoption of Law No. 2195 will optimize the legislation on the sale and transfer of land plots of state and municipal property for use, improve and speed up the mechanisms and procedures for its sale and transfer, increase the economic efficiency of auctions and increase receipts in state and local budgets.

UKRAINE AND GEORGIA PLAN TO BOOST TRADE

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine and Georgia plan to step up trade and economic cooperation and boost trade between the countries in 2021 by 25%.
“Georgia is an important trade partner for us. I am sure that despite the coronavirus pandemic, we will step up trade and economic cooperation this year. A positive trend will be an increase in trade turnover by 25%. This will be one of the main tasks of the joint Ukrainian-Georgian Commission on Economic Cooperation,” Zelensky said during a joint briefing with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Wednesday in Kyiv.
According to Zelensky, “the next meeting devoted to trade and economic cooperation is scheduled for September this year.”

PRESIDENT OF GEORGIA TO ARRIVE IN UKRAINE ON OFFICIAL VISIT

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili arrives in Ukraine on an official visit on Wednesday, June 23, the press service of the President of Ukraine reports.
“A meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili is scheduled for June 23, who is to be on an official visit in Ukraine,” the message says.
The presidents talk to media representatives at 12:40 at the Mariyinsky Palace.

FORUM UKRAINE 30 WILL CONTINUE ITS WORK WITH THEME “HEALTHY UKRAINE”

From June 22 to June 24, the All-Ukrainian Forum Ukraine 30 will continue its work, its theme will be “Healthy Ukraine.”
According to the announcement on the Forum website, at 10:15 on June 22, President Volodymyr Zelensky will inspect 12 sports zones on the roof of the Parkovy Congress and Exhibition Center, after which he will open the Forum with a presentation of the national program Healthy Ukraine at 10:30.
“On this day, the speakers will also talk about the popularization of sports, and the star participants in the sessions will talk about the fashionable trend to be healthy and reveal the secrets of a healthy lifestyle,” the organizers said.
Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak, Minister of Health Viktor Liashko, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadym Huttsait, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Vira Rohova, President of the National Olympic Committee Serhiy Bubka, President of the Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Irina Deriugina, President of the Ukrainian Badminton Federation, Head of the Staff of the President’s Office of Ukraine Oleksiy Dniprov, and gymnast Hanna Rizatdinova are expected to participate in the Forum on June 22.
