SSAB supports Ukraine through UNHCR
As part of SSAB, Ruukki is donating to UNHCR, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to support the people in Ukraine. UNHCR is present in the country with a structure already set up and has vast experience in rapid response, relief and refugee assistance, including people fleeing inside Ukraine.
Ruukki is constantly monitoring the development of the situation and taking any necessary actions to secure the safety of its people.
Ruukki has a factory in Kopyliv, some 50 kilometers west from Kyiv, and sales offices in some ten locations in Ukraine. Altogether, Ruukki has 73 employees in Ukraine.
In Ukraine, Ruukki products for commercial construction are represented by Rauta. Rauta Group was set up in 2014. Its core business is the design of constructions, supply and assembly of construction materials. The company has a license for the construction of facilities with medium (CC2) and high (CC3) consequences.
According to the unified state register, the owner of a 100% stake in the statutory capital of the company is Andriy Ozeychuk.
Kyiv-based Rauta Group LLC, in cooperation with the Confederation of Builders of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Steel Construction Center, has developed a design of prefabricated mobile hospital, which can be constructed within two weeks.
The company said that a mobile hospital has enough space for accommodation of 72 patients and comfortable conditions for work of medical staff. The construction contains two autonomous zones with wards for patients in moderate and critical condition, as well as an intensive care unit, offices for the chief doctor and head nurse, rest rooms for the staff and other premises.
The hospital structure consists of prefabricated sandwich panels which meet all construction standards, sanitary requirements, safety regulations and energy efficiency standards. The design of the building provides a possibility to use renewable energy sources such as solar panels and heat pumps.
Technologies and materials which are highly resistant to viruses, bacterium and frequent sanitation are used in the structure.
The life-time cycle of such a building is more than 30 years.
General Manager of Rauta Group Andriy Ozeychuk said that the project is highly optimized for using ready-made solutions that can be mounted manually without use of wet processes and welding.
“If necessary, such a modular hospital can be easily disassembled and moved to another region, as well as expanded or converted for other purposes,” he said.
Ozeychuk also stressed that “the project of a domestic company should draw attention of the Health Ministry for systemic response to challenges of the pandemic, as well as for the elimination of negative influence of any epidemics and disasters on Ukrainian citizens in future.”

Rauta Group LLC (the Rauta trademark, Kyiv), which designs and assembles pre-fabricated houses, in 2019 doubled sales of Ruukki sandwich panels, while in general the market of imported panels in Ukraine showed a 10% decline.
“The total consumption of imported sandwich panels in Ukraine decreased from 1.01 million square meters in 2018 to 0.91 million square meters in 2019. Industry experts attribute this result to a temporary slowdown in the investment activities of developers due to the general economic situation in country,” Rauta reported.
Thus, the share of Rauta of the market of imported sandwich panels has doubled, to 4.4%.
“Given the current trends in increasing the energy efficiency of commercial buildings, we expect further growth in sales of sandwich panels,” Rauta director Andriy Ozeichuk said.
At the same time, according to him, one of the challenges this year could be the introduction of regulation No. 305, which will significantly affect this market.
“In the long run, the appearance of declarations and self-regulatory organizations will create the prerequisites for the mass application of sandwich panels that comply with State Standards of Ukraine EN 14509 with the highest possible energy efficiency and durability,” the company said.
Kyiv-based Rauta Group LLC, which deals with design and installation of fast-track buildings, has received a license for construction of the building with medium and high consequence class (CC2, CC3).
“Obtaining a license is a logical continuation of the company’s development in the highest quality construction materials supply and services provision,” the company quotes Rauta Director Andriy Ozeichuk as saying.
Now in addition to the supply of European produced sandwich panels, facade cladding and steel structures, the company carries out a full list of construction and installation works, as well as a general contracting.
Rauta Group was founded in 2014. Ozeichuk is a 100% shareholder of the company.
Energy-saving innovations from Rauta, applied in the construction of Novus shopping mall, have been recognized by market experts in the nomination “Best technical solution”.
The awarding of the «Construction Atlantes» best projects was held on November 23 during the II National Forum on the construction projects management RED PM DAY 2018.
Rauta received an award for the Novus project in the nomination “Best technical solution”, in which the award jury and the forum participants evaluated technologies that make it possible to simplify the construction and maintenance of buildings. The Novus shopping center in Kiev became the first real estate in Ukraine to build with the new generation of Ruukki sandwich panels – Energy series.
“Only by using such sandwich panels commercial buildings with nearly Zero Energy Building (nZEB) are being built in the EU countries,” said Andriy Ozeychuk, Rauta Director. “Advanced energy efficiency panels make it possible to save an additional 20% on heating and air conditioning of the real estate and to achieve the A-level of building energy efficiency”.
It should be noted that using Ruukki sandwich panels of the ENERGY series allows the commercial property to obtain higher rates for LEED, BREEAM and FM certification systems.
