Retail trade turnover in Ukraine in January-March 2023 decreased by 9.1%

Retail trade turnover in Ukraine in January-March 2023 compared to the same period in 2022 decreased by 9.1% to 390.1 billion UAH, the State Statistics Service (Derzhstat) said on Tuesday.

According to the State Statistics Service, at the same time in March this year there was a 35.5% increase in retail turnover compared to March last year, while in February the decline was 22.6%.

State Statistics Committee specifies that retail trade turnover (legal entities) in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarter of 2022 decreased by 11.2%, amounting to 262.7 billion UAH.

This figure increased by 35.4% in March 2023 compared to March 2022, while in February the decline was 25.2%.

Gosstat reminds that the data are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea, Sevastopol, part of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

As reported, in 2022 the retail turnover in Ukraine fell by 21.4%.

RETAIL TRADE TURNOVER OF UKRAINE IN APRIL ACCELERATES TO 34%

The retail trade turnover of Ukraine in April 2021 compared to the same month in 2020 in comparable prices increased 34.3%, while in March it grew by 13.1%, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to the State Statistics Service, in April compared to March 2021, retail turnover decreased 6.5%.
In January-April 2021, compared to the same reporting period in 2020, retail trade turnover grew by 14%.
The largest growth in retail trade turnover of enterprises (legal entities and individual entrepreneurs) in the first four months of 2021 was recorded in Chernivtsi (by 26.9%), Ternopil (by 25.2%), Zakarpattia (by 22.1%), Kyiv (by 20.1%), Vinnytsia (19.5%), Lviv (16.7%), Khmelnytsky (16.2%), Ivano-Frankivsk (16%), Luhansk (15.9%), Chernihiv and Zhytomyr (15.2%) regions.

RETAIL TRADE TURNOVER IN JANUARY 2021 INCREASE BY 3.5%

Retail trade turnover in Ukraine in January 2021 at comparable prices increased by 3.5% compared to January 2020, the State Statistics Service has reported.
According to its data, in January 2021 retail trade turnover decreased by 27.9% compared to December 2020.
The largest growth in the turnover of retail trade of enterprises (legal entities and individual entrepreneurs) in January 2021 compared to January 2020 was recorded in Kyiv (by 13.9%), Chernihiv (by 10.7%), Zaporizhia (by 6.9%), Odesa (by 6.4%), Dnipropetrovsk (by 6.2%), Vinnytsia (by 6%), Poltava (by 5.6%), Sumy (by 4.2%) and Luhansk (by 4.1%) regions.
According to the statistics department, the leaders in absolute indicators of the volume of retail trade in January 2021 were Kyiv city (UAH 19.099 billion), Dnipropetrovsk (UAH 9.382 billion), Kyiv (UAH 8.458 billion), Kharkiv (UAH 7.065 billion), Odesa (UAH 7.213 billion UAH) and Lviv (UAH 5.736 billion) regions.
The State Statistics Service clarifies that the turnover of retail trade enterprises (legal entities) in January 2021 compared to January 2020 increased by 4.9%, from December 2020 decreased by 27.1%, amounting to UAH 71.915 billion.
The wholesale trade turnover of enterprises (legal entities) in January 2021 compared to the same month in 2020 decreased by 0.6% and amounted to UAH 196.453 billion.
As reported, the retail trade turnover of Ukraine in 2020 increased by 8.4% and amounted to UAH 1.211 trillion.
The State Statistics Service reminds that the data are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol and the zone of the JFO.

UKRAINE’S RETAIL TRADE TURNOVER IN JAN INCREASES BY 12%

Ukraine’s retail trade turnover in January 2020 in comparable prices increased by 12.1% compared with January 2019, the State Statistics Service has reported. According to its data, in January 2020 retail trade turnover decreased by 21.9% compared to December 2019.
Retail goods turnover in January 2020 was UAH 90.833 billion.
The largest growth in the retail trade turnover of enterprises (legal entities and individual entrepreneurs) in January 2020 compared with January 2019 was recorded in Zaporizhia (by 17.7%), Ternopil (by 17.4%), Kirovohrad (by 16%), Khmelnytsky and Kyiv (by 15.4%), Chernivtsi (by 14.9%), Lviv (by 14.8%), Dnipropetrovsk (by 14.3%), Poltava (by 14.1%), and Kherson (by 14%) regions.
Last month, the leaders in absolute terms of retail turnover were: Kyiv city (UAH 17.584 billion), Dnipropetrovsk (UAH 8.565 billion), Kharkiv (UAH 7.012 billion), Odesa (UAH 6.697 billion), Kyiv (UAH 6.598 billion) and Lviv (5.639 billion UAH) regions.
According to statistics, in January 2020 compared with January 2019, retail trade turnover in Donetsk region increased 10.3% (to UAH 2.85 billion), in Luhansk region it grew by 5.8% (to UAH 0.816 billion).
The State Statistics Service said that the turnover of retail enterprises (legal entities) in January 2020 compared to January 2019 increased 10.8% and compared to December 2019 decreased 22.9%, amounting to UAH 65.047 billion.
The wholesale trade turnover of enterprises last month compared to the same month of 2019 fell by 2%, to UAH 141.67 billion.The service said that the data are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Sevastopol and the Joint Forces Operation area.

RETAIL TRADE IN UKRAINE CONTINUES GROWING – STATISTICS

Retail trade in Ukraine (legal entities and individual entrepreneurs) in January-August 2019 increased by 9.9% in comparable prices compared with January-August 2018, the State Statistics Service said on Friday. In August 2019 alone, retail trade turnover grew by 3.4% compared with the previous month and by 6.7% year-over-year (August 2019 to August 2018).
The largest growth in retail turnover in January-August 2019 compared to the same period in 2018 was recorded in Vinnitsa region (by 18.2%), Ternopol region (by 17.1%), Kyiv region (by 16%), Cherkasy region (by 14.2%), Luhansk region (by 13.7%), Odesa region (by 13.3%), Dnipropetrovsk region (by 13%), Khmelnitsky region (by 11.1%), Donetsk region (by 10.5%), Rivne region (by 10.3%), and the city of Kyiv (by 14.5%).
The State Statistics Service says that its report does not include data from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and occupied districts in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
