ODESA SEAPORT SEES 3% RISE IN CARGO HANDLING

Odesa seaport handled 10.45 million tonnes of cargo in January-May 2020, which is 3.2% more than in the same period in 2019.
According to the data of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, for the specified period, the port increased the transshipment of exported cargo by 0.3%, to 7.693 million tonnes, imported cargo by 22.9%, to 2.241 million tonnes. Coastal cargo handling decreased by 33.1%, to 41,730 tonnes, and transit cargo by 16.4%, to 473,990 tonnes.
The transshipment of bulk cargo at the Odesa Sea Port increased by 15.5%, to 780,810 tonnes, dry and bulk cargo decreased by 13.4%, to 3.71 million tonnes, package cargo increased by 14.2%, to 5.959 million tonnes in January-May.
Processing of containers for the period amounted to 271,869 TEU (an increase of 8.8% compared to the same period in 2019).
Odesa seaport is located in the southwestern part of Odesa Bay on an artificially created area of 109.5 hectares.
The port serves ships up to 270 meters long with a draft of up to 13 meters. The total length of the mooring line is more than eight kilometers.

MARIUPOL SEAPORT INCREASES CARGO HANDLING BY 24%

Mariupol seaport (Donetsk region) increased cargo handling by 23.4% in January-May 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, to 2.687 million tonnes.
According to the statement of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority on the state-owned enterprise’s website, during the period the port increased the transshipment of export cargo by 15.5%, to 2.238 million tonnes, import by 28.7%, to 303,620 tonnes, coastal freight by almost 56 times, to 145,100 tonnes. At the same time, the port did not handle transit cargo.
According to freight nomenclature, Mariupol seaport increased the transshipment of dry bulk cargo by 42.8%, to 827,700 tonnes, and packaged goods by 17.4%, to 1.783 million tonnes. At the same time, it reduced the transshipment of bulk cargo by 2.6%, to 76,000 tonnes.
As reported, the port handled 6.484 million tonnes of cargo in 2019, which is 10% more than in 2018.

Odesa seaport handled 4.26 million tonnes of cargo in January and February 2020, which is 7.31% more than in the same period in 2019.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, for the specified period, the port increased the transshipment of exported cargo by 9.86% compared to January and February 2019, to 3.316 million tonnes, the transshipment of imported cargo by 4.04%, to 743,000 tonnes, reduced transshipment of cabotage goods by 14.4%, to 200,850 tonnes. The transshipment of transit cargo decreased by 52.5%, to 1,830 tonnes.
Transshipment of liquid cargo in Odesa seaport in January and February decreased by 37.21%, to 184,330 tonnes, dry and bulk cargo by 1.03%, to 1.643 million tonnes, and piece-by-piece increased by 20.56%, to 2.443 million tonnes.
Processing of containers for the period amounted to 109,244 TEU (an increase of 21.56% compared to the same period in 2019).
As reported, in 2019, the seaport handled 25.344 million tonnes of cargo, which is 16.8% more than in 2018.

ASCET SHIPPING STEVEDORE INCREASES GRAIN HANDLING IN BERDIANSK SEAPORT BY 62%

The private port operator Ascet Shipping increased the grain handling in Berdiansk seaport to 1.134 million tonnes in 2019, which is 62% more than in 2018 (700,349 tonnes).
According to the company’s press service reported on Tuesday, March 17, the volume of handling by Ascet Shipping in Berdiansk seaport has already exceeded 3 million tonnes since it has been working as a port operator (2016).
According to the company’s report, the port operator handled 1.134 million tonnes of cargo, servicing 161 vessels in 2019.
“In the status of a port operator in Berdiansk seaport, Ascet Shipping invested about $4.3 million of its own funds in the development of infrastructure providing grain export through the berths of Berdiansk port. In particular, a port warehouse complex with a capacity of about 100,000 tonnes, a convoy, and modern laboratories were created. The port’s berths were equipped with new technological handling equipment, which allows loading five grain vessels at the port’s berths at the same time,” the company said.
According to the statement, Ascet Shipping has created more than 300 jobs over three and a half years of work in the status of a port operator.
Ascet Shipping is included in top 30 of the largest stevedoring companies in Ukraine and is the largest port operator of Berdiansk seaport.

Odesa seaport handled 2.03 million tonnes of cargo in January 2020, which is 4.67% more than in January 2019.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, for the specified period, the port increased the transshipment of exported cargo by 15.2% compared to January last year to 1.622 million tonnes, reduced the transshipment of imported goods – by 17.9%, to 306,000 tonnes, cabotage goods – by 35.9% to 98,190 tonnes. Transshipment of transit cargo decreased by 52.5% to 1,830 tonnes.
Transshipment of bulk cargo in Odesa seaport in January decreased by 83.7% to 26,390 tonnes, dry and bulk – increased by 11.06% to 784,500 tonnes, piece-by-piece – by 13.84% to 1.22 million tonnes.
Processing of containers for the period amounted to 58,329 TEU (an increase of 21% compared to January 2019).

CHORNOMORSK SEAPORT INCREASES CARGO HANDLING BY 22%

Chornomorsk seaport (Odesa region) in January-November 2019 increased cargo transshipment by 21.8% compared to the same period in 2018, to 23.572 million tonnes.
According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, during this period Chornomorsk port increased transshipment of exported cargo by 22.4%, to 18.061 million tonnes, imported goods by 16.2%, to 4.4 million tonnes, transit cargo by 20.6%, to 933,710 tonnes, and also significantly increased transshipment of cabotage freight, by 4.1 times, to 200,570 tonnes.
Transshipment of liquid cargo in the port in January-November increased by 7.2%, to 1.510 million tonnes, dry bulk cargo by 23.9%, to 16.238 million tonnes, packaged goods by 20.6%, to 5.823 million tonnes.
Transshipment of containers amounted to 125,078 TEU (an increase of 11.2%).
As reported, the volume of transshipment at the port in 2018 rose by 25.02% compared to 2017, to 21.54 million tonnes.
