The Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) will lend EUR 4.35 million to Norway’s Norsk Solar for the construction of a 9 MW solar power plant near the town of Brovary in Kyiv region. According to NEFCO’s press service, Norsk Solar itself will allocate another EUR 4.35 million for the construction of the plant.
“We are happy to be able to join forces with NEFCO to construct this solar power plant in Ukraine. We estimate that it will provide more than 5,000 households with renewable energy over the next few decades,” NEFCO’s press service quoted CEO at Norsk Solar AS Oyvind Vesterdal as saying.
The solar plant is located in the village of Semypolky and will be built on a total land area of 12.6 hectares. The plant is to be commissioned at the end of 2019.
The project owner and majority equity contributor, Norsk Solar AS, is part of the Norsk Vind group.
Norsk Solar is owned by Norwegian Lars Helge Helvig.
As reported, at the end of January, Norsk Solar and the Ukrainian engineering company Pro-Energy, which is owned by Ruslan Delidon and Dmytro Osypov, signed an agreement on the construction of a solar power plant in Kyiv region.
The Green for Growth Fund (GGF) will provide the Norwegian company Scatec Solar, represented by Scatec Solar ASA, with a loan of EUR 9 million for the construction of a 45 MW solar power plant near Bohuslav (Kyiv region).
According to a press release from GGF, this year this is the second major investment by the Norwegian company in the renewable energy fund in Ukraine. The first one was the project of the 250 MW wind farm Syvash (Kherson region).
In general, the fund’s investments in Ukraine amount to almost EUR63 million. This project will contribute to the country’s strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in its total supply to 25% by 2035, the fund said in a press release.
The Green for Growth Fund finances renewable energy projects aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions in 19 countries of South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Ukraine, Moldova, the Middle East and North Africa.
Scatec Solar in early June signed an agreement with the Dutch development bank FMO to sell a 40% stake in the project of building the Kamyanka solar power station with a capacity of 32 MW in Cherkasy region, the company’s press service has reported.
According to its data, the project with a total cost of EUR35 million is 70% financed by a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the rest was issued by FMO.
According to the project, Scatec Solar is also a supplier of design, procurement and construction services and will provide services for its operation and maintenance, as well as asset management, the report says.
As reported, Scatec Solar plans to build about 400 MW solar plants in Ukraine in 2019.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) intends to consider granting a loan in the amount of EUR7 million to Energopark Yavoriv LLC for the construction of the second stage of Yavoriv solar power plant with a capacity of 36 MW.
According to the website of the bank, a meeting of the board of directors on the issue of the loan is scheduled for June 5.
“The project is developed under the EBRD Ukraine Sustainable Energy Lending Facility III (USELF III), a EUR 250 million framework to support renewable energy in Ukraine,” the report reads.
“The project consists of the development, construction and operation of the second phase for 36MWp of a 72MWp solar PV project located near the town of Ternovytsia in Lviv region,” it says.
Eco-Optima manages a park of solar plants and wind power plants, some of which are built using EBRD loan funds. The company commissioned two phases of a wind plant of 34 MW in Stary Sambir in Lviv region. The project was implemented with the funds from the EBRD and the World Bank’s Clean Technology Fund.
Energoatom has announced a tender for the supply of equipment and materials for the solar power plant Sonechko-1, which is to be built in the territory of Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP).
According to the ProZorro system, the corresponding auction is scheduled for June 24. The expected cost of work is UAH 270.52 million.
Energoatom proposes to supply 48,900 single-crystal or polycrystalline Risen photovoltaic modules with a capacity of 310–320 W, some 360 network inverters, 13 complete substations of 0.4/6 kV and one substation of 35/6kV, as well as 119,300 meters of copper cable.
Energoatom announced the intention to build a solar plant with a capacity of about 15 MW at Zaporizhia NPP in 2017. Since then, there have been preparatory work: design, geodetic studies. It was assumed that the solar station will be located on 37 hectares, in the territory of hydraulic structures between the cooling pond and the Kaniv water reservoir.
BUILD, ENERGOATOM, NUCLEAR POWER, PLANT, SOLAR PLANT, TENDER
The National Commission for the State Regulation of Energy, Housing and Utilities Services (NCER) has established feed-in tariffs for Solar Kvant Energy LLC (Dnipropetrovsk region), which operates a solar power plant with a capacity of 9.96 MW, commissioned in March 2019. The NCER made the decision at a meeting on April 9. The tariff of 15.03 euro cents per kWh will be valid until the beginning of 2030.
The core business of Solar Kvant Energy LLC is non-specialized wholesale. The final beneficial owners as of the end of March were Yan Valetov and Oleksandr Sukhodolsky. Valetov is a famous Ukrainian science fiction writer, published under the pseudonym Borys Bitner. Sukhodolsky is the co-owner of one of the largest pharmaceutical distributors BaDM LLC (Dnipropetrovsk).
