Market for new trucks and specialty vehicles in Ukraine grew by 8% in May

In May 2026, 1,032 new vehicles were added to Ukraine’s fleet of new trucks and specialty vehicles, which is 8% more than in May 2025 but 8% less than in April of this year, according to a report by Ukravtoprom on its Telegram channel.

Renault remains the market leader with 144 units, though this is 38.7% less than in April of this year.

Fiat took second place with 84 units (118 units in April 2026), and Volkswagen took third with 83 units.

Rounding out the top five were Mercedes-Benz with 77 units and Opel with 72 units.

As reported, in May of last year, the top five were MAN, Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, and Mercedes-Benz.

According to Ukravtoprom, a total of 5,065 new vehicles were added to Ukraine’s fleet of trucks and special-purpose vehicles from January through May, which is 6% more compared to the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the information and analytical group AUTO-Consulting, analyzing the segment of trucks with a gross vehicle weight of over 3.5 tons, noted that in May, for the first time in 14 months, a 10% increase in truck sales was recorded.

“This marks the end of a long and protracted slump caused by the suspension of foreign aid through U.S. funds last year,” the report states.

JAC became the leader in this segment in May, overtaking MAN thanks to large deliveries of special-purpose vehicles, while Volvo finished third. Meanwhile, MAN took first place among heavy-duty trucks with a 16% market share. Overall, the segment of heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle weight exceeding 16 tons grew by 35%.

Increased demand was recorded for dump trucks, tractor-trailers, and municipal special-purpose vehicles. A slight increase also began in the concrete mixer and tanker segments.

As reported, according to data from “Ukravtoprom,” registrations of new trucks and special-purpose vehicles in 2025 decreased by 5% compared to 2024—to nearly 12,300 vehicles.

Truck imports to Ukraine in 2025 grew to almost $1 bln

Imports of trucks to Ukraine in 2025 grew by 5.5% in monetary terms compared to 2024, reaching $999.5 million, according to statistics from the State Customs Service.

According to the published data, the growth rate of imports of this type of vehicle slowed down somewhat at the end of the year, reaching 7.5% over the 11 months compared to the same period in 2024.

At the same time, in December, truck imports decreased by 9% compared to December 2024, to $102.3 million.

Most trucks in 2025 were imported from France – $169.2 million (42.8% more than last year), Poland – $162.7 million (14.7% less), and the United States – $109 million (2% more). Last year, Poland led this trio.

Imports of trucks from all other countries increased by 4.6% over the year, amounting to $558.5 million.

At the same time, according to statistics, Ukraine exported only $6.6 million worth of trucks last year, mainly to Turkey (66.2% of exports), Romania, and Moldova, and a year earlier, exports were even more insignificant ($4.1 million), mainly to Moldova, Turkey, and Poland.

Sales of new trucks in Ukraine fell by 5% in 2025

In 2025, almost 12,300 new vehicles were added to Ukraine’s fleet of new trucks and special-purpose vehicles, which is 5% less than in 2024, Ukravtoprom reported on its Telegram channel.

Renault retained its market leadership, although its sales fell by 49% compared to 2024, to 1,662 units. Citroen also retained second place with 1,335 units (+11%), while MAN came in third, as in 2024, with 1,083 units (+9%).

Next in the ranking were Peugeot with 1,043 units (+70%), which ranked seventh in 2024, and Fiat with 808 units (+73%), which was not among the top ten most popular brands last year.

Sixth place, as in 2024, went to Mercedes-Benz with 749 units (+20%); seventh place went to Ford with 687 units (-19%).

Rounding out the top ten most popular commercial vehicles are Toyota with 677 units (+111%); Iveco with 616 units (+13%); and Opel with 590 units (+56%).

According to the association, 1,439 vehicles were sold in this market in the last month of 2025, which is 46% more than in the previous month and 6% more than in December 2024.

At the same time, the AUTO-Consulting information and analytical group, analyzing the segment of trucks with a gross weight of more than 3.5 tons, notes that last year it decreased by 17%, and MAN retained its leadership with a 24% increase in sales, preferred by 23% of consumers.

“During the year, Iveco, Volvo, and Renault Trucks took the lead in certain months. However, at the end of the year, they still failed to come close to MAN’s performance,” experts stated in a report on the group’s website.

Iveco ranks second in this segment, followed by Volvo in third place.

As reported, according to Ukravtoprom, registrations of new commercial vehicles (trucks and special vehicles) in 2024 increased by 14% compared to 2023, to 12,900 units.

Poland, France, and US lead in truck imports to Ukraine

Imports of trucks to Ukraine in January-November 2025 increased by 7.5% in monetary terms compared to the same period in 2024, reaching $897.2 million, according to statistics from the State Customs Service.

According to the published data, the growth rate of imports of these vehicles has slowed down again, in particular, over 10 months it amounted to 8% compared to the same period in 2024.

In particular, in November, truck imports increased by 2.2% compared to November 2024, to $77.5 million, which, however, is 2% less than in October 2025.

The largest number of trucks in 11 months was imported from Poland – $155.7 million (8% less than last year), France – $151.2 million (45.6% more), and the United States – $105 million (16.5% more).

Imports of trucks from all other countries in January-November increased by 3% to $485.3 million.

At the same time, according to statistics, Ukraine exported only $6 million worth of trucks in 11 months, mainly to Turkey (64.3% of exports), Romania, and Moldova, while a year earlier, exports were even more insignificant ($2.9 million), mainly to Moldova, Poland, and Kazakhstan.

Poland, France, and US remain key suppliers of trucks to Ukraine

Imports of trucks to Ukraine in January-September 2025 grew by 11.6% in monetary terms compared to the same period in 2024, reaching $740.18 million, according to statistics from the State Customs Service.

According to the published data, the growth rate of imports of this type of vehicle accelerated, in particular, in the first half of the year, it amounted to 6.2% compared to the same period in 2024.

In September, truck imports increased by 32.7% compared to September 2024, reaching $105.8 million.

Most of the trucks were imported from Poland in the first nine months, accounting for $141.12 million (19% of the total), followed by France with $115 million (15.5%) and the United States with $102.4 million (13.8%).

A year ago, the top three truck supplier countries were the same, with Poland importing $137.8 million, France $78.3 million, and the US $66.2 million.

Imports from all other countries increased slightly in January-September, amounting to $381.7 million.

At the same time, according to statistics, Ukraine exported only $4.4 million worth of trucks in nine months, mainly to Turkey (52.7% of exports), Romania (41%), and Moldova, while a year earlier there were even more insignificant export deliveries ($2.4 million), mainly to Moldova, Poland, and Kazakhstan.

Truck imports fell by 6% in July

According to statistics from the State Customs Service, imports of trucks to Ukraine in July 2025 amounted to $85.07 million, which is 6% less than in June of this year.

According to the published data, most trucks were imported last month from Poland – $20.1 million (26.4% more), France – $14.4 million (5.4% less), and the US – $5.7 million (16.4% less).

In total, over the first seven months of this year, trucks worth $563.6 million were imported into Ukraine, including $117.5 million from Poland, $89.5 million from France, and $87 million from the US.

Imports of trucks from all other countries in January-July amounted to $269.5 million.

At the same time, according to statistics, Ukraine exported only $3.7 million worth of trucks in seven months, mainly to Turkey (53% of exports of such vehicles), Romania (42.6%), and Moldova (22%).
