FC Shakhtar Donetsk reaches eighth round of UEFA League

Shakhtar Donetsk have beaten Rennes on penalties to reach the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League.

PRESIDENT OF UEFA ALEKSANDER CEFERIN ARRIVES TO KYIV ON TWO-DAY VISIT

President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Aleksander Ceferin has come to Kyiv on a two-day visit, the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) reports. “Today, on September 4, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has arrived in Kyiv on a two-day visit. The president of the UAF, member of the UEFA Executive Committee Andriy Pavelko met the distinguished guest, whom he personally invited to visit Ukraine,” the UAF press service reported.
It is noted that the visit of the UEFA President is very eventful and important for Ukrainian football.
Ceferin visits Ukraine for the third time in the status of UEFA President. The last time he stayed in Kyiv was during the UEFA Men’s and Women’s Champions League finals in May 2018.

KYIV PERFECTLY HOSTS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL – UEFA PRESIDENT

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin thanked Kyiv city for the high level of organization of hosting UEFA Champions League 2018 finals, the press service of Kyiv City Administration has reported.
“I would like to thank Kyiv and Mayor Vitali Klitschko for the excellent organization of the final matches of the Champions League. It should not be forgotten that this is the largest sport event of a global level that is not easy to organize. Yesterday, and in previous days, there was not a single mistake. Thank you for your hospitality, I am convinced that at least half of the fans will return to Kyiv again,” he said at a meeting with Klitschko on Sunday.
Ceferin said that after the Champions League final, Kyiv will be able to organize any event of this scale.
Klitschko, in turn, said that everything went “very well.”
“Yes, we were worried because Kyiv and Ukraine had not hosted such events before, but we did our best, we prepared carefully, and we managed to do this,” the mayor of Kyiv said.
He thanked the law enforcers for coherent and professional work. “I thank the top officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police and the Security Service for their work during this big event, and thank each law-enforcer who provided order in the city. This was extremely important,” Klitschko said.

BORYSPIL AIRPORT EXPECTS UAH 15-20 MLN RISE IN REVENUES DUE TO SERVICING UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FLIGHTS

Boryspil International Airport expects to receive an additional UAH 15-20 million of revenue from aviation activities due to servicing additional flights on the day of the UEFA Champions League final in Kyiv on May 26, the airport deputy director for commercial activities and strategic development, Heorhiy Zubko, has said at a press conference.
“The assets Boryspil airport intends to receive within the framework of this event are those that are directly related to aviation activity. We expect to receive at least UAH 15-20 million from that number of passengers who will come to us,” he predicts.
Zubko noted that in addition to income from aviation activities, the airport also expects to receive additional income from passenger service enterprises: cafes, duty free shops, etc., located in the airport’s territory.
As reported, Boryspil airport is expected to accept 77 flights with fans in Terminals B and D on the day of the UEFA Champions League final.
At the same time, Kyiv expects 100,000 guests for the UEFA Champions League final, but most fans will leave after the Champions League finals are finished and they will not need accommodation in the hotels of the capital.

KYIV MAYOR KLITSCHKO: WE HOST 100,000 GUESTS DURING UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has invited football fans to Kyiv to visit the UEFA Champions League 2018 final to take place in Kyiv on May 26. A video clip where Klitschko jointly with head coach of the national team of Ukraine and UEFA Champions League final ambassador Andriy Shevchenko took part was posted by Klitschko on his Facebook page. “Friends, Kyiv is preparing for a large sports event that will host for the first time – the UEFA Champions League final. We expect that around 100,000 guests would visit our city,” Klitschko wrote.
He said that a Ukrainian creative team worked on the video clip. Funds from the Kyiv city budget were not spent on making the clip.
