Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held a meeting with Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong and representatives of Korean business.
During the meeting, the head of state conveyed his gratitude to the government of the Republic of Korea for the decision to provide Ukraine with financial support in the amount of 2.3 billion dollars for post-war reconstruction.
“I think this will give a boost to the development of Ukrainian infrastructure,” Zelensky said and added that it is important for Ukraine that representatives of Korean business actively work on the Ukrainian market and participate in the implementation of projects in the development of nuclear and renewable energy, machine building, automotive industry, lithium mining, oil refining, “green” metallurgy, railway transport, and others.
“It is important that they (Korean businesses – IF-U) feel my personal support. We are interested in you entering more deeply into the Ukrainian economy,” he said.
As the president emphasised, such cooperation will allow Ukraine to provide new jobs and new economic growth both for itself and for the Republic of Korea.
Zelensky also expressed gratitude to the Korean side for supporting the initiatives of the First Lady of Ukraine when she was on a visit to the Republic of Korea.
For his part, Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong stressed that Korea stands for peace and defence of Ukrainian sovereignty, as well as for countering Russia’s illegal invasion.
He also noted that the visit of representatives of the Korean government and business to Kiev was a direct demonstration of support for Ukraine.
In addition, the minister expressed his belief that bilateral cooperation could be expanded in various areas of common interests.
According to the press service of the Ukrainian president, the parties signed an agreement between the governments on loans from the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF). The agreement provides for the possibility of granting favourable loans for the implementation of projects in Ukraine with the participation of Korean companies. The document was signed by First Deputy Prime Minister and Economics Minister Yuliya Sviridenko on the Ukrainian side and Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine Kim Hyong-Tae on the Korean side.
During his working visit to Greece, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the President’s press service reported on Monday evening.
The heads of state discussed the current state of affairs on the front line and the security situation in the region in view of the continuation of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy thanked Greece and personally Katerina Sakellaropoulou for supporting our country since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
The President of Ukraine noted the Greek leader’s special attention to the needs of Ukrainian citizens who have taken temporary refuge in this country. He particularly thanked the Greek side for the program of rehabilitation of Ukrainian children affected by Russian aggression.
The Head of State expressed hope that Greece would join the restoration of the affected regions of Ukraine.
“We are aware of the special role of Odesa in the history of Greece and look forward to your country’s involvement in the restoration of the city and Odesa region. I propose that Greece take patronage of this region,” Zelenskyy said.
During his working visit to Denmark, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Queen Margrethe II and members of the royal family.
“Meeting with Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and members of the royal family. The statements and actions of the Royal Family of Denmark in support of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people mean a lot to us. We appreciate the royal family’s personal support for the humanitarian efforts of Danish and international organizations operating in Ukraine,” he said in the Telegram channel.
The head of state also expressed gratitude to the Danish people, government and parliament for the powerful humanitarian, financial and military assistance to Ukraine.
“We will always be grateful for the support and mutual understanding that our struggle for life and freedom meets here,” the president said.
In particular, he noted the activities of Denmark within the Support Fund for Ukraine, aimed at restoring Ukrainian schools, hospitals, bomb shelters, water, heat and energy supply, etc.
According to Zelenskyy’s press service, he invited members of the royal family – Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary to support investment and humanitarian projects that Ukraine and Denmark are jointly implementing.
During the audience with the Queen, the first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska was also present.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law No. 8401, canceling the 2% flat tax and bringing back documentary checks and PPO control, said the head of the specialized parliamentary committee Daniil Getmantsev.
“Bill 8401 has become a law. Use it,” he wrote in telegrams.
As reported, the Verkhovna Rada on June 30 adopted the law № 8401, one of the important structural beacons of the program with the IMF, on the abolition of the 2% single tax from August 1 and the return of documentary checks and PPO control.
Later, MPs from the inter-factional association “Reasonable Policy”, as well as the factions “Servant of the People” and “Batkivshchyna” registered three draft resolutions in the Verkhovna Rada to cancel the results of voting for this document in the second reading and as a whole, but they were rejected.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed the Foreign Ministry to summon the Georgian ambassador to Kiev and protest him in connection with the ongoing imprisonment of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.
Zelensky also instructed the Foreign Ministry to ask the ambassador to leave Ukraine within 48 hours for consultations.
“Right now Russia is killing Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili at the hands of the Georgian authorities. We have repeatedly called on official Tbilisi to stop this mockery and agree on Saakashvili’s return to Ukraine. Our partners in coordination with Ukraine have also offered various rescue options. Today, I instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon the Georgian ambassador to Ukraine, protest him strongly and suggest he leave Ukraine within 48 hours to consult with his capital,” he wrote Monday in his Telegram channel.
“Once again, I call on the Georgian authorities to transfer Ukrainian citizen Mikhail Saakashvili to Ukraine for the necessary treatment and care. And I call on our partners to turn, not to ignore this situation and save this man. No government in Europe has the right to execute people, life is a basic European value,” he also wrote.
Earlier on Monday, video of Saakashvili’s interrogation was published, in which he looks severely thinner.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda for purchasing two new air defense systems for Ukraine.
“I thank Gitanas Nauseda for his decision to purchase and transfer two NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine. This is an important and timely contribution to the protection of the Ukrainian sky and saving the lives of Ukrainians. Together to victory,” Zelensky wrote on Twitter.
As reported, on Wednesday morning Nauseda announced the purchase of two NASAMS launchers by Lithuania, which will be transferred to Ukraine.
