UKRAINE REPORTS DECREASE IN CASES OF MEASLES

Some 2,524 people fell ill with measles in the 9th week of 2019, they include 1,230 adults and 1,312 children, according to the Center for Public Health under the Health Ministry of Ukraine, the ministry’s press service said. A 25-day-old baby died from measles in Khmelnytsky region during the reporting week, it said.
In total, the ministry said, 10 people, including three children, have already died of this disease this year. Since the outbreak of measles, 31 people have died of this disease.
“Between December 28, 2018 and March 1, 2019, some 26,544 people fell ill with measles in Ukraine: 11,797 adults and 14,747 children. The highest outbreak rates were in Lviv (4,021 people in total: 1,335 adults and 2,686 children), Vinnytsia (2,339: 1,014 adults and 1,325 children), Rivne (2,299: 808 adults and 1,491 children), Khmelnytsky (2,007: 1,073 adults and 934 children) regions, and the city of Kyiv (2,310 people: 1,293 adults and 1,017 children),” the ministry said.

AFTER OVERHAUL OF BIG ORBITAL ROAD BURDEN ON STREETS IN KYIV TO DECREASE – VITALI KLITSCHKO

After the overhaul of the big orbital road the transport burden on central streets in Kyiv would decrease, as transit vehicles would avoid central roads, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said. The press service of the mayor of Kyiv reported that during the inspection of the construction of the overpass and the junction on the orbital road, in the section from Marshal Rokosovsky Street to Bohatyrska Street, Klitschko said that the main thoroughfare in this section will be about 2 kilometers. The plan provides for the construction of 2 new overpasses, an underground pedestrian crossing, the installation of an embankment, the re-laying of all communications and utility networks. Also landscaping of the adjacent territory will be provided.
According to him, now work has been done to prepare for the construction of overpasses through Bohatyrska Street and through the railway. The tunnel part of the underground pedestrian crossing was made. The development of earth embankment has begun. All the work at the site should be completed next autumn.
Also Klitschko checked up how works on overhaul of Kulzhenko Family Street are being conducted. After the repair there will be a direct exit to the orbital road, which is currently under construction. This will significantly relieve the area of Taras Shevchenko Square from especially transit transport, this will reduce the number of “traffic jams” in the area. Klitschko reminded that over the previous two years more than 500 kilometers of roads were repaired in Kyiv. And at least 300 kilometers are planned to be renewed this year.

NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE SEES 8% DECREASE IN ASSETS IN H1, 2018

The assets of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) as of July 1, 2018, amounted to UAH 942.724 billion, which was 8.2% less than at the beginning of the year.
Such financial indicators were published by the central bank in the parliamentary edition Holos Ukrayiny (the Voice of Ukraine) on Friday, July 20.
The amount of non-resident securities, which are part of the NBU’s assets, shrank most noticeably: by 10.1%, to UAH 372.725 billion, while holdings and special drawing rights (SDR) decreased by about 61%, to UAH 23.807 billion.
At the same time, the amount of funds and deposits in foreign currency and banking metals almost doubled, to UAH 49.806 billion.
In the structure of the NBU’s liabilities, the amount of obligations to transfer profits to the budget, fell by 85.2%, to UAH 6.614 billion, the amount of assets of government and other institutions fell by over 54.7%, to UAH 25.135 billion, while the liabilities of the National Bank before the International Monetary Fund shrank by 12.4%, to UAH 180.660 billion.

PIGS AND CATTLE NUMBERS DECREASE IN UKRAINE, POULTRY NUMBER GROWS

Cattle numbers in Ukraine as of May 1, 2018 amounted to almost 3.94 million animals, which is 4.4% less compared to early May 2017, the State Statistics Service has reported. According to the report, the number of cows shrank by 3.8% over the period, to 2.03 million.
The number of pigs decreased by 6.3% in April 2018, to 6.18 million, sheep and goats – by 3.9%, to 1.62 million animals.
The number of poultry grew by 1.2% compared with early May 2017, to 201.08 million birds.
As reported, with reference to statistical data, cattle numbers in Ukraine (excluding the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol and the ATO zone) in 2017 amounted to 3.682 million animals, which is 1.5% less compared to 2016. Pig numbers fell by 8.2%, to 6.12 million, sheep and goats grew by 0.1%, to 1.316 million and poultry – by 1.7%, to 205.103 million.
The number of pigs fell by 5.8%, to 6.669 million, poultry by 1.1%, to 201.7 million birds, and sheep and goats by 0.8%, to 1.315 million.
