Ukraine will export poultry meat to Kuwait

The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened a new market in Kuwait for Ukrainian producers of poultry meat and poultry products, the press service of the agency reported.

According to the report, the relevant form of international certificate is published on the official web portal of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the section “International Cooperation”, in the section “Veterinary and Safety”, in the subsection “Certificates for Export from Ukraine”, as well as in the section “Requirements of the countries of the world”.

The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection emphasized that the market operator is responsible for food safety and compliance with the requirements of the country of destination, while state supervision and control is a function and competence of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

The first step for exporting food products is a request from the market operator to the territorial body of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection at the location of the facilities, the agency explained.

As reported, the markets of Azerbaijan and North Macedonia have already been opened for Ukrainian livestock products in 2023.

Export of poultry meat from Ukraine for 8 months decreased by 9.9%

In January-August 2022, Ukraine exported 265.5 thousand tons of poultry meat and offal, which is only 9.9% less than the figure for the same period in 2021, the Union of Poultry Breeders of Ukraine Association reported on the website.
At the same time, it is noted that in monetary terms, the export of these products for the specified period increased by 32.8% – up to $589.2 million. Such an increase in export earnings became possible due to an increase in prices in the traditional export markets of Ukrainian products, in particular the EU countries and the Middle East.
The largest importers of meat and edible poultry offal from Ukraine in August 2022 were Saudi Arabia (24%), the Netherlands (16%) and Slovakia (10%). According to the results of January-July, these countries became the largest consumers of Ukrainian poultry meat.
At the same time, the import of poultry meat to Ukraine for the same period amounted to 49.7 thousand tons, which is 36% less than for the same period in 2021. The entire volume came from EU countries, mainly from Poland.

UKRAINE IMPOSES BAN ON IMPORT OF POULTRY MEAT FROM UNITED STATES

On February 18, Ukraine imposed a ban on the import of poultry meat and by-products from the United States after an outbreak of avian flu on a turkey farm in Indiana on February 10.
As reported on the website of the Public Health Center (PHC), the ban applies to the import of hatching eggs, birds, products from it (with the exception of products that have been processed by a method that guarantees the destruction of the causative agent of the specified disease), feed, as well as by-products of the poultry industry.
According to the State Customs Service, in 2021 Ukraine imported $122,000 worth of poultry meat and offal from the United States, becoming Ukraine’s 15th trading partner in terms of imports, while Poland ($40.6 million) and Hungary became the largest ($10.3 million).
Avian influenza is an acute infectious viral disease of birds, characterized by damage to the digestive and respiratory organs and high mortality. Influenza affects birds of any age, and the mortality rate for the disease reaches 80-100%.

UKRAINE RAISES POULTRY EXPORT IN JAN-SEPT

Ukraine in January-September 2020 increased export of poultry by 6.7% compared to the same period in 2019, to 323,730 tonnes, the State Customs Service has reported.
According to its data, in monetary terms, exports of these products fell by 4.4%, to $420.03 million.
At the same time, imports of poultry for the first nine months of this year decreased 17.2%, to 78,460 tonnes, in money terms by 13.9%, to $32.62 million.
Pork export, according to the State Customs Service, increased 28.7%, to 2,060 tonnes. These products were delivered for $4.62 million, which is 30.2% more than in January-September 2019.
In January-September 2020, pork imports to Ukraine increased 4.8%, to 19,200 tonnes, in monetary terms by 11.3%, to $38.78 million.
In addition, over the indicated period, Ukraine reduced export of eggs by 16.4%, to 88,850 tonnes, in monetary terms by 5.5%, to $79.38 million.
In January-September 2020, egg imports fell by 50%, to 2,090 tonnes, in monetary terms by 54.6%, to $7.47 million.

UKRAINE INCREASES POULTRY MEAT EXPORTS BY 15% IN JAN-SEPT

Ukraine boosted exports of poultry meat and offal products by 14.9% to 243,720 tonnes in January-September 2018, Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service said on Wednesday.
Such exports in monetary terms increased by 29.3%, to $381.12 million, the State Fiscal Service said.
Imports of poultry meat and offal products in January-September 2018 increased by 24.4%, to 99,120 tonnes, such imports in monetary terms grew by 22.5%, to $39.23 million.
Exports of pork in January-September 2018 declined 65.5% year-over-year, to 1,490 tonnes. Pork exports were estimated at $3.2million against $9.2 million in the nine months ending September 2017.
Pork imports to Ukraine over this period soared by 6.2 times, to 19,670 tonnes. The country imported pork worth $36.79 million against $5.91 million in January-September 2017.
