Ukraine in January-November 2020 reduced electricity exports by 23.1% (1.331 billion kWh) compared to the same period in 2019, to 4.425 billion kWh, according to Ukrenergo.
According to the calculations of the Interfax-Ukraine agency, the supply of electricity from the Burshtyn TPP energy island to Hungary, Slovakia and Romania decreased by 28.5% (by 1.121 billion kWh), to 2.805 billion kWh.
Electricity supplies to Poland increased by 12% (by 147.9 million kWh), to 1.381 billion kWh.
Electricity supplies to Moldova amounted to 156 million kWh, which is 73.9% (441 million kWh) less than in January-November 2019.
Since the beginning of the year, exports to Belarus amounted to 82.8 million kWh.
Ukrainian electricity was not exported to Russia.
At the same time, over the 11 months, Ukraine also reduced electricity imports by 2% (by 43 million kWh) compared to the same period last year, to 2.156 billion kWh. In particular, 1.356 billion kWh were supplied from Slovakia, 506.9 million kWh from Hungary, 152.3 million kWh from Belarus, 87.9 million kWh from Romania, 53.4 million kWh from the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian seaports in January-November of this year handled 145 million tonnes of cargo, which is 1% more than in the same period last year, representatives of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) said during the EBA Infrastructure Day on Thursday.
According to the USPA, the export of goods for 11 months-2020 increased by 3.6%, imports decreased by 8.3%, transit – by 10.3%.
“Exports increased due to such cargo as ore and metal, imports decreased due to ore and coal, transit decreased due to a reduction in ore supplies from the Russian Federation through the port of Pivdenny,” the USPA reported.
According to the published information, in the structure of cargo handling, grains make up 30% of cargo, ore – 28%, ferrous metals – 11%, containers – 8%, other bulk cargo – 6%, oil – 4%, etc.
Most of the cargo (28%) was handled by four seaports: Pivdenny, Mykolaiv, Odesa and Chornomorsk.
As reported, the seaports of Ukraine in 2019 handled 160 million tonnes of cargo, which is 18.4% more compared to 2018.
Sugar production in Ukraine as of December 3 amounted to 894,700 tonnes.
According to a report on the website of the National Association of Sugar Producers Ukrtsukor, as of this date, 30 sugar factories operate in the country, which processed 6.75 million tonnes of sugar beet.
As earlier reported with reference to Ukrtsukor, the sugar beet processing season started in the country on September 5.
Sugar production in Ukraine in 2020 is forecasted at 1.2 million tonnes, which is 15% less than a year earlier.
As of November 30, 2020, Ukrainian agricultural producers harvested 9 million tonnes of sugar beet from an area of 212,200 hectares (98%).
Lvivvodokanal has signed an agreement with the Slovenian-Norwegian consortium Riko-Cambi on the construction of a biogas station with combined heat and power production for EUR 31.5 million.
“Based on the results of the international selection procedure for the implementation of the project for biogas production from municipal sewage sludge, the Slovenian-Norwegian consortium Riko-Cambi was appointed as the contractor. The contract will last until June 2023,” the press service of Lviv City Council said.
According to the work schedule, design and estimate documentation will be developed by September-2021, construction, installation and commissioning by June 2022, the commissioning of the facility by June 2023.
The station will generate electricity in the amount of about 20,000 MW/year and heat.
“It will improve quality of life for many, cutting CO2 emissions by 120,000 tonnes/year. A good example of EU Green Deal at work!” Matti Maasikas, the Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, said on Facebook.
The project is financed by a loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the amount of EUR 15 million and the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) in the amount of EUR 5 million, a grant from the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership(E5P, EUR 7.5 million) and Lviv City Council (EUR 4 million).
Nova Poshta, the leader of express delivery in Ukraine, has launched the Kharkiv Innovation Terminal in a test mode.
The company said this terminal became the fourth innovative terminal of the company in Ukraine and the second largest after the Kyiv Innovation Terminal.
The construction of an object with an area of more than 19,000 sq m lasted 1.5 years. Like other innovative terminals of Nova Poshta, the Kharkiv terminal is equipped with automated equipment from the Dutch company Vanderlande, capable of handling 8,500 parcels per hour. The terminal is also equipped with 31 special telescopic conveyors, with the help of which items are unloaded and loaded directly into the vehicle. The total capacity of the terminal is up to 20,000 parcels per hour.
“Investments in infrastructure is a necessity for the company to effectively sort parcels, the volumes of which are growing significantly from year to year, and this year the figure has already grown by 30%. The opening of the Kharkiv terminal will help us distribute logistics flows in the east and maintain the speed of delivery,” CEO of Nova Poshta Oleksandr Bulba said.
The Kharkiv terminal will sort shipments for Kharkiv, as well as Kharkiv, Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
At present, the terminal is operating in a test mode, all processes of Nova Poshta’s terminal logistics are synchronized: the logistics directions and information structure are changing, and the flow of shipments is being distributed.
Nova Poshta plans to launch it on a regular basis next week.
JSC Ukrzaliznytsia in 2021 plans to allocate almost three times more funds for renovation, overhaul, modernization of rolling stock and construction of infrastructure compared to 2020.
According to the press service of the company, the capital investment of the enterprise in 2021 should amount to UAH 27.2 billion (UAH 9.7 billion in 2020). At the same time, 55% of this amount is Ukrzaliznytsia’s own funds, 31% are investors’ funds, 14% is planned to be received from the state budget.
Ukrzaliznytsia counts on state support in implementing these plans. Since investments in the renewal of infrastructure must be comprehensive and systemic, so that in the future they return to the state budget in the form of profit, it added.
As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia intends to increase capital investments to UAH 41 billion in 2023.
In 2019, Ukrzaliznytsia increased its net profit by 14.7 times, to UAH 2.988 billion (UAH 203.85 million in 2018). EBITDA increased by 6% compared to the previous year, to UAH 17.3 billion.
