UKRAINE SEES SLIGHT FALL IN CHEESE EXPORTS, IMPORTS GROWS BY 30% IN 2018

Ukraine exported 3,250 tonnes of cheese in January-May 2018, which is 0.7% less than in the same period in 2017. According to customs statistics released by the State Fiscal Service, in monetary terms exports increased by 7.8%, to $12.24 million.
Cheese imports in January-May 2018 amounted to 4,650 tonnes, which is 30.5% more than in the same period in 2017. In monetary terms this figure increased 1.5-fold, to $23.36 million.
Exports of butter from Ukraine in January-May of this year increased 1.7-fold, to 14,790 tonnes. In monetary terms the figure amounted to $63.33 million. Butter imports rose 2.8-fold, to 483 tonnes ($3.17 million).
Exports of milk and cream (condensed) in January-May 2018 decreased 28.7%, to 13,026 tonnes. Ukraine supplied condensed milk and cream for a total of $21.88 million, which is 31.2% less than in January-May 2017.

KYIVSTAR LAUNCHES M-AGRI APPLICATION FOR FARMERS WITH SUPPORT OF AGRICULTURE MINISTRY

The Kyivstar mobile communications operator with support of the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine has launched m-Agri mobile application for small farms, the company has said in a press release.
“The business application should provide farmers with access to best practices, knowledge base, industry price proposals, news, training resources and online consultations, as well as to bring farmers to new markets to sell their products and provide them with opportunities to grow their business,” the operator said.
Currently, seven basic sections are available in the application: news, market prices, weather, finance, knowledge base, Smart Assistant and messages.
In the future, it is planned to supplement the functionality of the platform with financial services, a trading platform, and other things.
The application is designed for mobile devices on the Android system. It is free of charge for Kyivstar users.
On Google Play the application is a free trial version.

VIKTOR AND K COMPANY ENTERS FOREIGN MARKETS

Private enterprise Viktor and K (Svitlovodsk, Kirovohrad region, the Korolivsky Smak (Royal Relish) trademark) has started supplying food to Germany, Belgium, Tanzania, Kuwait, Gambia and Guinea-Bissau.
According to a report on the company’s website, its exports portfolio has over 85 countries.
Viktor and K is a large producer in the region. It produces sunflower oil and mayonnaise. Its crushing capacities are 400-500 tonnes of seeds a day, production capacities – 170-210 tonnes of oil a day and up to 30 tonnes of mayonnaise a shift. Two silos can store 17,000 tonnes of seeds.
Along with mayonnaise and sunflower oil, the enterprise produces ketchups, mustard, vinegar, tomato sauces, halva, pasta, condensed milk, canned vegetables, seasonings and spices.
According to the unified register of companies, the owner and director general of the enterprise is Viktor Korol.

PLANT PROTECTION PRODUCER UKRAVIT OPENS $7 MLN RESEARCH CENTER IN UKRAINE

Ukravit group of companies, one of the largest producers of plant protection agents and micro-fertilizers in Ukraine, has invested about $7 million in opening the research center “Institute of Plant Health” in Cherkasy. “We’ve invested $7 million in the opening of a research center. It occupies an area of 3,800 square meters. The project implementation took two years,” Vitaliy Ilchenko, the owner of Ukravit Group, said.
According to him, the core business of the research center is the analysis of existing agents and quality control, the development of new products and compounds, soil analysis, and tests of all types of crops in the laboratory.
“At present there are about 50 scientific workers at the factory, about 100 more are to be attracted in the near future,” the owner said. He said the research center has been already accredited in Ukraine. “Now we plan to get international accreditation so that our center would be part of the world’s network of scientific institutions. We want our results to be recognized in all countries,” he said.
Ukravit is engaged in production and sale of pesticides, fertilizers with microelements, means for destruction of rodents and domestic insects. The group includes Factory of Agrochemicals LLC (Cherkasy) which produces plant protection agents and micro-fertilizers. It produces more than 150 items of products.
