CHINESE CORPORATION BECOMES FIRST RESIDENT OF UKRAINIAN PROJECT

DCH Group of Oleksandr Yaroslavsky and ZTE Corporation, a large Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer, have signed a memorandum of cooperation under the Ecopolis KhTZ project, the DCH press service has said.
The document was signed on behalf of DCH by the managing company of the Ecopolis KhTZ business park, and on behalf of ZTE – the Ukrainian division of ZTE Ukraine Corporation. The ceremony was held in a video conference format due to quarantine restrictions in Ukraine.
According to the report, ZTE became the first Ecopolis KhTZ business resident in the industrial park (industrial cluster) and the technology park (IT and R&D clusters). The promising areas of cooperation are the creation of a ZTE office, an R&D center, and a production site in the territory of Ecopolis KhTZ.
“You are the first in the development of the Ecopolis KhTZ technology cluster. I hope other Chinese companies will follow you, such as, for example, Alibaba Group,” DCH said.
In turn, the vice president of ZTE Corporation emphasized the compliance of the Ecopolis KhTZ project with his company’s strategic priorities, and the CEO of ZTE Ukraine said that ZTE is ready to offer its expertise for the implementation of Smart City digital transformation projects in Kharkiv.
Kharkiv Mayor Hennadiy Kernes, who was present at the signing ceremony, noted that the city will fully assist in the implementation of the initiative of DCH Group.

ZHYDACHIV PULP AND PAPER MILL CUTS PRODUCTION IN JAN-APR

Zhydachiv Pulp and Paper Mill (Lviv region), part of Osnova holding, in January-April 2020 produced UAH 61.8 million worth of products, which is 56.5% less than in the same period in 2019.
According to statistics from the UkrPapir association, in January-April 2020, the plant decreased production of corrugated packaging by 15%, to 5.06 million square meters, and reduced production of cardboard and paper for corrugating by some 63%, to 3,600 tonnes. At the same time, paper production fell by 40%, to 1,030 tonnes.
Another enterprise of the holding, Izmail Pulp and Paper Mill (Odesa region), decreased its production 16.7%, to UAH 45.7 million. Package cardboard output fell by 21.8%, to 3,070 tonnes and corrugated box output rose by 3%, to 5.3 million square meters.
Zhydachiv Pulp and Paper Mill was put into operation in 1951. Now the mill produces mainly corrugated cardboard and corrugated boxes.

BIOPHARMA BEGINS TO CONDUCT TESTS OF ALL DONORS FOR AVAILABILITY OF COVID-19 ANTIBODY

The biopharmaceutical company Biopharma begins to conduct EIA (enzyme immunoassay) tests for availability of COVID-19 antibody assay for all plasma donors, EIA testing will identify those who have the disease in a latent form.
“Biopharma purchased 12,000 EIA tests manufactured by Roche and on May 18 we will begin testing donors for antibodies on our hardware base,” Kostiantyn Yefymenko, the co-owner of the company, said on his Facebook page.
He recalled that Biopharma has begun collecting plasma from donors who have undergone COVID-19.
“The first liters of such plasma have already been prepared, and our team is doing a very difficult job. We understood that it would not be easy. Very difficult,” he wrote.
Yefymenko noted that the number of potential donors is very limited. So, out of 4,700 people who recovered (at the time of publishing the post of Yefymenko) in Ukraine, 40% are older than 60 years and cannot be donors, 20% cannot be donors according to their indications.
“There remain 1,800 people in a large, forty-million country, who need to be found, and not all, but volunteers who are ready to become a donor,” he explained.
As reported, Biopharma has begun the development of a hyperimmune immunoglobulin based on plasma of people who had COVID-19, this drug can be effective for specific treatment of COVID-19.
Biopharma is a Ukrainian biotechnology company, the only plant in Eastern Europe that has modern technology, has been manufacturing and developing drugs from donated plasma for almost 50 years.
