The volume of construction work performed in Ukraine in January-May 2021 decreased by 6.1% compared to the same period in 2020.
According to the State Statistics Service, in January-May, the volume of construction work completed amounted to UAH 54.4 billion.
According to the statistics department, in May 2021 the seasonally adjusted index of construction products amounted to 93.1% compared to the previous month, adjusted for the effect of calendar days compared to May 2020 – 91.6%.
The State Statistics Service reported that in May 2021 from May a year earlier, an increase in the volume of construction work was observed only in residential construction – by 30.9%, while in the segment of non-residential construction it decreased by 4.8%, engineering – by 19.7%.
The share of new construction in the total volume of completed construction work was 40.6%, repairs – 31.6%, reconstruction and technical re-equipment – 27.8%.
An increase in the volume of construction work in January-May 2021 compared to January-May 2020 was recorded in Khmelnytsky (by 20.1%, to UAH 1.4 billion), Ternopil (by 50.6%, to UAH 1.1 billion), Rivne (by 20.6%, to UAH 949.5 million), Volyn (by 10.6%, to UAH 713.7 million), Kharkiv (by 10.6%, to UAH 5.9 billion), Donetsk (by 5.9%, to UAH 2.1 billion) and Ivano-Frankivsk (by 9.8%, to UAH 1.1 billion) regions.
In other regions, there was a decrease in construction volumes. The most significant drop was shown by Chernivtsi (by 48%), Kherson (by 32.7%) and Vinnytsia (by 37%) regions.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food expects the recovery of the export volumes of grain and leguminous crops by Ukraine in the 2021/2022 marketing year (MY, July-June) to the indicators of the 2019/2020 MY, the department predicts their exports in the current MY at the level of 56 million tonnes with a harvest of 75.8 million tonnes, the European Business Association (EBA) said on its website.
According to the report, in the 2021/2022 MY, the export of grains and legumes will grow by a quarter compared to preliminary data for 2020/2021 MY, from 44.63 million tonnes to 56 million tonnes.
As reported, with reference to the preliminary data of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, Ukraine’s exports of grain and leguminous crops in the 2020/2021 MY decreased by 21.3% compared to the 2019/2020 MY, to 44.63 million tonnes. Exports of wheat in the 2020/2021 MY decreased by 18.9% compared to the 2019/2020 MY, to 16.44 million tonnes, corn – by 23.9%, to 23.06 million tonnes, barley – by 17.1%, to 4.21 million tonnes, flour export – 2.6 times, to 126,000 tonnes.
Minister of Agrarian Policy Roman Leschenko told Interfax-Ukraine in May 2021 that the harvest of grains and oilseeds in the 2021/2022 MY could exceed 100 million tonnes, the harvest of winter wheat, corn, sunflower, barley and soybeans is expected to grow.
Registration of new and used electric vehicles in Ukraine in January-June 2021 increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2020, to 3,550 units, including 89.7% of registrations accounted for used vehicles, the Federation of Automotive Industry of Ukraine has said.
According to a post on its website based on data from the Interior Ministry, in the second quarter, the number of registrations (primary plus cars imported from abroad with a customs certificate) increased by 14% compared to the first quarter of this year and by 7% – with the second quarter of last year, up to 1,891 units.
According to the graphic data provided in the report, the most frequently registered cars were those manufactured in 2017 (824 units), 2018 (502 units) and 2019 (454 units), and cars of 2021 with 154 units.
At the same time, a lot of cars registered were produced in 2016 (376 units), 2015 (264 units), 2014 and 2013 (253 units and 255 units, respectively) and 2020 (316 units).
In the first half of the year, the top three brands remained unchanged – Nissan, Tesla and Chevrolet.
However, if Nissan registrations decreased by 14%, to 994 units, Tesla lost 24% – to 688 units, then Chevrolet tripled sales – to 542 cars, and the Chevrolet Bolt EV model became the second most popular model in Ukraine after Nissan Leaf.
