The service for the delivery of food from Raketa restaurants (Dnipro) has begun to work in Kyiv.
According to the company’s official announcement, on November 11, 2019 around 200 Raketa pedestrian, bicycle, motorcycle and auto couriers started working in Kyiv. They perform free delivery of meals from more than 70 restaurants located in the central areas of the city, with a stated delivery time of 60 minutes. The order is made in a mobile application (available for iOS and Android).
The first few months, Raketa will work in the capital in a beta testing mode. During this time, the service plans to cover the entire territory of Kyiv.
The size of commission from the restaurant for delivery of the order is not disclosed.
According to the report, the company plans to occupy at least 30% of the food order market in Ukraine and develop a network of its own kitchens (dark kitchen). The first of them is already working in a test mode near the Bessarabsky market in Kyiv, and the plan is to open 25-30 such kitchens in the capital.
“The network of our own kitchens will allow us to close all processes within the company, provide perfect service, and most importantly, deliver in less than 30 minutes,” Oleksiy Yukhymchuk, the co-founder of Raketa, said.
Raketa is a service of food delivery from restaurants that began operations in Dnipro on March 5, 2018. Currently, the company is owned by three stakeholders, including Ukrainian entrepreneurs Oleksiy Yukhymchuk and Stanislav Dmytryk (the name of the third owner is not disclosed).
The harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2019, according to preliminary data, will be about 74 million tonnes, which is 4 million tonnes more than in 2018, Economy Minister Tymofiy Mylovanov has stated.
“In particular, wheat will amount to 28.1 million tonnes (3.5 million tonnes more), corn to 35 million tonnes (800,000 tonnes less), and barley to 8.9 million tonnes (1.6 million tonnes more),” he wrote on Facebook.
Oleh Bakhmatiuk and his Ukrlandfarming agricultural holding at the end of October sent an official offer to the Individuals’ Deposit Guarantee Fund as an arbitration manager for the phased repayment of UAH 8 billion of debts to VAB Bank and Bank Financial Initiative owned by the businessman and withdrawn from the market, and on making a UAH 500 million guarantee fee. “Then UAH 1 billion a year. This offers remains valid, and I am actively working to ensure such financing,” Bakhmatiuk told Interfax-Ukraine.
He said that last week he had been actively negotiating in the Middle East, in particular with representatives of Cargill.
“I didn’t run anywhere, I’m actively working,” the businessman commented on reports of an alleged escape in connection with the arrests within the VAB Bank case in Ukraine that began on November 11.
Bakhmatiuk noted that in the coming days he would continue negotiations with trading companies and investors on the previously outlined program, but then he plans to return to Ukraine and will work with lawyers.
According to him, Ukrlandfarming annually produces 2.5 million tonnes of grain and under such commodity flows would be able to attract money necessary for the phased payment of debts.
Farmers held several protests on roads in various regions of Ukraine on Monday, the police ensured public order and prevented blocking of traffic on roads, the National Police told Interfax-Ukraine.
“Farmers are staging protests. They are not numerous so far. The police are protecting public order and preventing blocking of traffic on roads,” the police said and added that law enforcers explained the protesters that blocking of traffic on roads was illegal.
The National Police added that traffic on roads was only constrained and in general the situation was peaceful.
As reported, protesters blocked the Kyiv-Chop road near the Mali Pidlisky village, Lviv region. Around 100 farmers continuously walked the pedestrian crossing in protest against the government’s intention to cancel a moratorium on sale of farming land. The protesters let vehicles with children pass, however a significant traffic jam appeared on the road.
Earlier, the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, which organized the protest, reported that it was planning to stage protests on M05 road near Zhashkiv and E95 road near Uman (Cherkasy region), M19 road in Chortkiv district (Ternopil region), M12 road 10 kilometers to Novoarkhanhelsk (Kirovohrad region), and M14 belt road in Mykolaiv.
The council also said that it was planning to stage protests on E50 road in Prybuzke (Khmelnytsky region), the road near Pysarivka in Vinnytsky district, the road Makhnivka in Koziatynsky district, P36 highway in Shpukiv, Tulchynsky district (Vinnytsia region), M21 highway in Osykove, Berdychivsky district (Zhytomyr region), M05 and E95 highways in Demydove (Odesa region), M03 highway in Maryanivka, Velykobachahansky district, M03 road in Chutove (Poltava region), M19 and T0311 highways in Verbka, Volodymyro-Volynsky district (Volyn region), M06 road in Diadkovychi (Rivne region), H17 road in Mali Midlisky, Zhovkovsky district, Lviv region.
Ukraine in January-October 2019 exported 5,960 tonnes of cheese, which is 14% less than in the same period in 2018.
According to customs statistics released by the State Fiscal Service, in monetary terms exports amounted to $21.97 million, which is 14.7% less than the figure for the ten months of 2018.
At the same time, cheese imports in January-October 2019 amounted to 17,660 tonnes, which is 1.7 times more than the figure for the same period in 2018. In monetary terms, imports rose by 1.6 times, to $81.04 million.
Export of butter from Ukraine in January-October of this year decreased by 37.5%, to 16,320 tonnes, in money terms by 37.5%, to $67.94 million. Import of this product, according to the service, rose by 2.3 times, to 1,990 tonnes ($10.12 million).
In January-October, export of milk and cream (condensed) rose by 2.2%, to 32,740 tonnes. Ukraine supplied condensed milk and cream for a total of $69.63 million, which is 31.7% more than in January-October 2018. Imports of this group of goods decreased by 4%, to 1,810 tonnes ($3.99 million).
The World Bank has expressed its strong support to land reform in Ukraine and praised its necessity to all market participants.
“The World Bank strongly endorses the plans of Ukrainian leadership to open the agricultural land market. Land reform is needed for Ukrainian farmers to buy and sell agricultural land, access credit, invest and diversify, as well as land owners to get proper return for their most valuable asset,” the World Bank said in its statement posted on Facebook on November 9.
The statement reads that all farmers, including small, medium and large, and landowners will benefit from the opening of the land market.
“It raises economic growth as well as living standards of all Ukrainian people by unleashing the country’s agricultural potential. The planned reform also includes measures to limit land concentration, stop raider attacks and provide financial assistance for small farmers. Two decades of a closed market and non-transparency that fosters corruption are enough: the time for land reform is now,” the World Bank said.
