SOUTH KOREAN UNINK INTERESTED IN BUILDING LIUBELIA COALMINE, RAIL TRACK BETWEEN WARSAW, LVIV – UKRAINE’S CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

KYIV. Sept 11 (Interfax-Ukraine) – South Korean UNINK is interested in projects on construction of Liubelia coalmine and a rail track between Warsaw and Lviv, Vice President of Ukraine’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Serhiy Svystil has said at a briefing at EXPO 2017.ASTANA. FUTURE ENERGY exhibition.
“A delegate from South Korea worked at our stand [the Ukrainian stand] for a week. Finally he said that a total of 15 projects were selected that a delegation to Ukraine to study. Among projects that were interesting to them was construction of Liubelia coalmine, Carpathian wind farm for 36.3 MW, a solar power plant of the Lviv regional clinical diagnostic center, Skola wind farm for 39.6 MW and construction of the European-standard gauge Warsaw-Lviv track,” he said.
Svystil said that companies from Malaysia also showed their interest to projects on construction of solar power plants in Ukraine.

YES FORUM WILL BE HELD IN MYSTETSKY ARSENAL IN KYIV ON SEPT 14-16

KYIV. Sept 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The 14th annual meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) on the topic “Is this a new world? And what does it mean for Ukraine?” will be held in Kyiv on September 14-16.
The YES press service said the plenary sessions of the forum and the work of special sections will be held in Mystetsky Arsenal, while the event will be opened at Bessarabsky Market.
More than 350 leading politicians, diplomats, businessmen, civic activists and experts from 34 countries of the world will take part in the conference, organized by the YES international forum in partnership with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
The main topics of the forum will focus on global issues: a shift in the geopolitical distribution of forces and changes in the global economy. Particular attention will be paid to the policy of the new U.S. administration, global security, cyber security, populism and energy security.
One of the most important themes of YES will be Ukraine and its prospects in the world. Discussions will be devoted to the changes taking place in the country and the challenges it faces.

PROMETEY TO INVEST UAH 20 MLN IN RECONSTRUCTING ELEVATOR IN CHERKASY REGION IN 2018/2019 MY

KYIV. Sept 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prometey group of companies will invest about UAH 20 million in the reconstruction of the newly acquired elevator in Cherkasy region until the 2018/2019 marketing year (MY, July-June).
“In early September Prometey bought an elevator in the village of Khatsky (Cherkasy region). The new elevator with a storage capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes is a complex of warehouses of a floor storage type. The elevator is in non-operating condition. Prometey by the start of the marketing year will invest about UAH 20 million in the renovation of the material and technical base of the elevator,” reads a press release from the group.
It is planned that in the first year of operation the capacity of the elevator in Cherkasy region will increase to 30,000-50,000 tonnes, over the next two or three years to 100,000 tonnes.
As part of modernization, it is planned to update laboratory equipment, repair warehouses, roofs, access roads and internal roads. It is also planned to upgrade the elevator electrification system, shipping points, grain transfer systems, work safety and grain storage systems. There is a railway station nearby, therefore it is planned to build a rail track to the elevator.
“Prometey is constantly developing, increasing the volume of shipment and expanding the geography of its activities. Cherkasy region is the sixth one in which Prometey operates. After the acquisition of an elevator in the village of Khatsky, the total volume of storage exceeded one million tonnes,” Prometey Group Head Rafael Goroyan said.

ECONOMY MINISTRY TO WORK OUT FIVE-YEAR STRATEGY FOR AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

KYIV. Sept 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade intends in the near future to begin the development of a medium-term strategy for the development of the automotive industry for five years, which provides for the maximum localization of production in Ukraine, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv has said.
“It [the strategy] will envisage the development of the Ukrainian car industry, the creation of jobs in this and related fields of production. The task is to maximize the localization of vehicle production in Ukraine,” he wrote on his Facebook page during a working trip to Cherkasy region.
Kubiv said during the trip he visited the Bogdan Motors plant in Cherkasy, which supplies vehicles for defense needs.
These are special dual-purpose vehicles, including armored tactical vehicles, trucks, all-wheel drive special (sanitary) vehicles, he said.
As reported, according to the Ukrautoprom association, Ukraine in 2016 produced 4,340 cars (23% less than a year earlier), bus production decreased by 64%, to 321 units.

ICC UKRAINE, EBRD AND UKREXIMBANK WILL HOLD FORUM ON TRADE FINANCE ISSUES ON OCT 4

KYIV. Sept 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine) together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and state-controlled Ukreximbank (Kyiv) will hold the Ukrainian forum on trade finance issues entitled “Trends of Trade between Ukraine, Asia and the Middle East” in Kyiv on October 4.
Vice President of ICC Ukraine Ihor Hres said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Monday that representatives of the government, the National Bank of Ukraine, state and commercial Ukrainian banks, Asian banks and banks of the Middle East will take part in the forum. The target audience of the event is specialists in trade financing in the banking sector, foreign economic activity subjects, transport-expeditionary companies, insurance and legal companies.
The aim of the forum is to reveal the basics of international trade and finance for expanding trade in international markets, acquaint with the international banking practices on the effective use of trade finance instruments. Presentation of participants in the event will be accompanied by interactive case studies and situation modeling.

UKRAINE’S TRADE MISSIONS STARTS WORKING IN DELHI – ECONOMY MINISTRY

KYIV. Sept 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine’s trade mission has been launched in Delhi. Negotiations of Ukraine’s Economic Development and Trade Ministry with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Shipping and the Ministry of Agriculture of India will be held, according to a posting on Ukraine’s Economic Development and Trade Ministry
“This mission focuses on two sectors: agriculture, engineering and production. Ukrainian goods in these sectors are competitive on the Indian market. We see a large interest to the Ukrainian business,” Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Ukraine’s Trade Representative Natalia Mykolska wrote on her Facebook page on Monday who chairs the mission.
The ministry said that the main task of the trade mission is to present Ukrainian goods and services on the Indian market. The Export Promotion Office and representatives of Ukrainian business take part in the mission.
