FRANCE’S AIGLE AZUR AIRLINE TO LAUNCH DIRECT PARIS-KYIV FLIGHT FROM APRIL 18

France’s Aigle Azur airline will launch the direct air line between the Paris-Orly and Kyiv-Boryspil airports from April 18, 2019, the airline has said in a press release.
The airline said that the launch of this Paris-Kyiv link joins the other lines already operated in Europe by Aigle Azur. This new route will offer among other things connection facilities for Aigle Azur passengers (and its airline partners), especially those from Brazil, Portugal, and Algeria.
Aigle Azur based in the Orly airport is France’s airline servicing regular and charter flights in Europe and North Africa.

HUNGARIAN LOW-COST AIRLINE WIZZ AIR DOUBLES PASSENGER TRAFFIC IN UKRAINE IN 2019

The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air in January-February 2019 carried more than 300,000 passengers on its flights to/from Ukraine, which is 94% more compared to the same period in 2018, the company has said in connection with placing the fourth aircraft at the base in Kyiv and the launch of four new flights from Ukraine.
“As a result of the growing demand among Ukrainian passengers … the airline offers 44 routes to 13 countries from three Ukrainian airports: Kyiv, Lviv, and Kharkiv,” the company said.
According to the booking system, the matter concerns 28 flights from Kyiv, ten from Lviv, six from Kharkiv. In particular, on March 1-3 Wizz Air began operating flights from Kyiv to Bremen, Billund (Denmark), and Riga, and from Lviv to Copenhagen.
According to the company, the deployment of the fourth Airbus A320 aircraft in Ukraine increases the total investment in the country to more than $400 million, as well as the number of jobs created to 140.

ITALY’S ALITALIA RECOGNIZED AS MOST PUNCTUAL FOREIGN AIR CARRIER IN UKRAINE AND WINDROSE AS MOST PUNCTUAL UKRAINIAN AIRLINE

Windrose (Kyiv) has been recognized by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine as the most punctual Ukrainian airline in July 2018, while the most punctual foreign air carrier is Italy’s Alitalia. According to the rating of punctuality of airlines at airports in Ukraine for July 2018, posted on the Facebook page of Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan, the regularity (compliance with the announced time of departure) of flights by Ukrainian airlines was 70.2% (a total of 5,275 flights were performed). At the same time, the regularity of departure by foreign airlines amounted to 68.1% (a total of 2,331 flights).
Windrose ranked first in terms of punctuality among Ukrainian airlines. It carried out 90.8% of the flights on time, Motor Sich ranked second (86.7%), Ukraine International Airlines was third (UIA, 73.8%). The top five air carriers also include Azur Air Ukraine (67.5%), and FANair (47.5%).
Alitalia ranked first on punctuality among foreign airlines with 96.8% of the flights performed on time, Belavia ranked second (92.8%), and Qatarways third (91.8%). The top five included Georgian Airways (90.9%), and Air Baltic (88.1%).

TAROM AIRLINE TO LAUNCH ODESA-BUCHAREST FLIGHTS

Romania’s Tarom airline will launch direct Odesa-Bucharest flights from September 1, 2018, the Odesa international airport has written on its Facebook page. “The flights will be operated three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Departure from the Odessa International Airport is at 4:15 and from the Henri Coanda International Airport (Bucharest) is at 1:00 local time. It is planned to use modern turboprop aircraft ATR 42/72,” the airport said.
The airport also said that in Bucharest, passengers are able to connect to air carrier flights on more than 30 routes to Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as 10 destinations within Romania.
At the moment, direct flights to Romania from Ukraine are carried out by Windrose on the Kyiv-Bucharest route.

UKRAINE’S AIRLINES TRANSPORT 2.1 MLN PASSENGERS IN JAN-MARCH, 12% UP

Ukrainian airlines, according to live data from the State Aviation Service, transported 2.1 million passengers in January-March 2018, which is 12.7% more than in the same period in 2017. According to a report on the agency’s website, international traffic grew by 12.5%, to 1.885 million people.
Passenger flows through the airports of Ukraine increased by 21.8% and amounted to 3.625 million people, in particular international traffic rose by 23% and amounted to 3.16 million passengers.
During January-March 2017 Ukrainian airlines serviced 19,300 commercial flights (3.2% up year-over-year), including 15,900 international flights (1.3% up).

AIR MALTA AIRLINE RESUMES FLIGHTS TO KYIV

Air Malta airline plans to resume regular flights from Malta to Kyiv from June 19. According to a posting on the website of the airline, the flights will be serviced on Tuesdays. It will take around three hours to get to the Boryspil international airport. The fares start from $190 for a round trip.
Air Malta flied to Kyiv several years ago. Air Malta connects Malta with over 35 major cities across Europe and the Mediterranean.
