According to a study conducted by the sociological company Active Group in cooperation with the analytical center Experts Club, a significant number of Ukrainians have used medical laboratories over the past two years. In particular, private medical laboratories play an important role in the healthcare sector, as more and more people are turning to them for high-quality and fast medical services.
The top 10 most visited private medical laboratories in Ukraine are as follows:
1. Synevo – 39.5% of respondents said they had used the services of this laboratory. Synevo is the undisputed market leader, which can be explained by its wide network of laboratories across the country, modern equipment and high level of trust from the population. Synevo is known for its accessibility and a wide range of services that meet the needs of both ordinary citizens and medical professionals.
2. “Dila – 15.5% of respondents have visited this laboratory. “Dila also has a strong position in the market due to the high quality of its services, in particular the accuracy of analyzes and the speed of service. The laboratory is actively developing innovative diagnostic methods, which attracts consumers looking for modern medical solutions.
3. “Eskulab – 9.3% of Ukrainians choose this laboratory. “Eskulab has strengthened its position due to its regional coverage, especially in the western regions of Ukraine. An important factor in its popularity is the availability of services in remote locations, which makes the laboratory convenient for a large part of the population.
4. Invivo – 6.1% of respondents used the services of this laboratory. Invivo is known for its individual approach to each client, which contributes to its popularity among patients who value quality and comfort. An important aspect of success is a convenient system for obtaining results and high accuracy of analyzes.
5. “DniproLab – 4.8% of respondents chose this laboratory. Dneprolab has strong positions in the central and eastern regions of the country. The main factors that ensure its popularity are the promptness of results and affordable pricing.
6. “Median – 2.5% of visitors used the services of Median. This laboratory is known for the accuracy of its tests and the introduction of modern diagnostic methods. Despite its smaller scale compared to market leaders, Median offers high-quality services that attract patients who value professionalism.
7. “Medlab – 4.5% of respondents have used this laboratory. “Medlab provides quality service and modern facilities for patients, which makes it popular among those looking for reliable medical services at a reasonable price.
8. DNA Laboratory – 2.3% of respondents chose this laboratory. Its specialization in genetic research and diagnostics helps the laboratory to attract clients who need such specialized services.
9. “Unimed – 2.3% of visitors preferred Unimed. The laboratory attracts customers with its convenience and the ability to get results quickly and without queues. This provides a positive experience for patients who value comfort and time.
10. “New Diagnostics – 2% of respondents chose this laboratory. It specializes in accurate and fast tests, which makes it attractive to customers who need reliable diagnostics.
In general, the most visited laboratories are those that offer a wide range of services, modern equipment, and ensure high accuracy of results. At the same time, prices remain an important factor, as according to the survey, 69.8% of respondents said that the cost of services needs to be reduced, 31.8% – the accuracy of results, 15.2% – the speed of service, 12.5% – the conditions in the laboratory, 11.8% – the politeness of the staff. Competition between laboratories helps to improve the quality of service and reduce the cost of services, which has a positive impact on the overall healthcare market in Ukraine.
The survey was conducted in July by individual interviews. The survey involved 600 respondents.
According to Andriy Yeremenko, founder of Active Group research company, the increase in the number of private medical laboratories in Ukraine indicates a systematic increase in demand for their services. At the same time, competition between laboratories has a positive impact on the quality and cost of analysis.
He predicts that the market will continue to develop in the future, making it easier to open new laboratories and improve existing ones. This, in turn, will increase competition, which will further reduce prices and improve the quality of medical services.
For his part, Maksim Urakin, founder of the Experts Club information and analytical center, emphasized that the study confirms the trend of increasing demand for private medical laboratories among Ukrainians.
“The survey data indicate an increase in confidence in the private medical sector and its capabilities. At the same time, the high level of competition in the market encourages laboratories to innovate, improve diagnostic accuracy and customer service. This trend is a positive signal for all market participants, as improving the quality of medical services and making them accessible to more people contributes to the overall improvement of the health of the Ukrainian population,” the founder of Experts Club believes.

26 laboratories of the well-known medical chain Eskulab have suspended their work due to an internal conflict between the company’s co-owners. According to Serhiy Dyadyushko, one of the brand’s co-owners, his colleagues Denys Melnyk and Stanislav Luhovskyi, along with software administrator Igor Malinovsky, are committing illegal actions to gain full control over the company.
“Melnyk and Luhovskyi have repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction with the official cash accounting. Their actions are aimed at gaining control over Eskulab in order to gain full access to its financial flows, to further direct them into their own hands, outside the official accounting and without paying taxes,” says Sergiy Dyadyushko.
He also claims that other co-owners offered to spend a significant portion of the cash outside the cash register and distribute it without paying taxes.
“They offered to spend the lion’s share of the funds received outside the cash accounting and distribute them without paying taxes among the company’s members. I categorically disagreed with such proposals and repeatedly informed them of my rejection of illegal actions. In this regard, Melnyk and Luhovskyi launched a raider attack to exclude me from the company’s shareholders by depriving me of my share,” said Diadiushko.
According to Dyadyushko, the raider attack included the systematic convening of general meetings of participants in violation of the established procedure, which led to the artificial creation of preconditions for his exclusion from the company. Melnyk and Luhovskyi also involved employees of the Lviv Directorate of Ukrposhta to ensure that he did not receive notices of the meeting.
“I have appealed to law enforcement agencies and am preparing documents to go to court. Despite constant psychological pressure and threats, I was forced to agree to resign as director and sign a new version of the charter to prevent my exclusion from the company,” he said.
This situation led to a temporary paralyzation of 26 laboratories of the Eskulab network in Kyiv, which negatively affected the provision of medical services to the population.
“As of today, having gained control over Eskulab, as a result of consistent raider actions, Melnyk and Luhovskyi, as well as Malinowski, who administers the software (computer program) of the company on the basis of which the latter conducts its business activities, have blocked me as a participant and medical director of Eskulab access to the said program and jointly withdraw cash from the company without paying taxes monthly in the amount of about UAH 20,000,000 Such actions of these persons lead to the actual non-receipt of biological products by the state budget. Because of this, 26 biomaterial collection points in Kyiv are actually unable to carry out their activities,” emphasizes the co-owner of the company.
Sergiy Dyadyushko considers these actions to be nothing more than a raider attack aimed at depriving him of his share in Eskulab.
“They demanded that I either resign as a director or they would exclude me from the company’s shareholders. The case has now been referred to law enforcement agencies. We are also preparing documents to go to court to restore my legal rights,” Dyadyushko said.
Established in 2009, Eskulab is a leading medical laboratory in western Ukraine that provides a wide range of laboratory services to the public with four laboratories and more than 150 biological sampling points.
In 2023, Eskulab paid UAH 33.8 million in taxes, including UAH 14.97 million in unified social tax, UAH 1.33 million in military duty, and UAH 14.034 million in personal income tax. It is one of the ten largest taxpayers in Lviv region.
The co-founders of PE “PSML ‘Eskulab’ are Dyadyushko, who owns 43% of the company, Luhovskyi (43%) and Melnyk (14%). The co-founders of Eskulab Center LLC are Dyadyushko, Luhovskyi and Melnyk, who each own 20% of the company, and Ruslana Soltani, who owns 40%.
In response to the growing need for comprehensive support for wounded who have been seriously injured in the war zone, a modern rehabilitation hub is being built in Kyiv. This project was implemented thanks to the cooperation of the Center for Saving Lives, the Association of Osteo-Integrative Prosthetics and the Esculab Laboratories network.
“Our center was created to provide our military with the best possible assistance in recovering from severe injuries. We provide not only physical rehabilitation with the help of modern equipment, but also psychological support,” said Vyacheslav Zaporozhets, director of the Center for Saving Lives charitable foundation.
According to him, the project is unique in that it uses not only the most advanced technologies for physical rehabilitation, but also creates conditions for social adaptation and moral recovery of the military.
“We want every wounded soldier who has undergone amputation to be able to return to a full life,” emphasized Mr. Zaporozhets.
In his turn, co-founder of the Esculab laboratory, Serhiy Dyadyushko, also noted the importance of the work for the veterans’ recovery.
“The network of laboratories “Esculab” is not only about business. We are honored to be a part of this project. Our participation is not limited to financing; we are also actively involved in the process of education and training of specialists, which allows us to maintain a high level of services provided at the center,” he emphasized.
The center will be equipped to the highest standards, including anti-gravity walkways and group exercise spaces that allow patients to feel comfortable and safe during their rehabilitation.
The rehabilitation center is being built on a 500-square-meter area and includes a modern walking laboratory, a wrestling room, a cardio zone, a strength training zone, a dental office, two physiotherapy rooms, a meditation and sleep room, an occupational therapy kitchen, a mini shooting range, locker rooms and showers, etc. The center can accommodate 30 patients at a time.
The project is part of a larger initiative aimed at creating a network of similar centers across the country to ensure access to high-quality rehabilitation services for all victims.
“Eskulab is a network of medical laboratories of international quality of diagnostic tests based in Lviv and has one of the largest networks of branches in Ukraine. The network includes more than 100 sampling points in the cities and towns of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Zakarpattia, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil, Rivne, Volyn regions and Kyiv. “Eskulab provides patients with the opportunity to take tests at their place of residence and receive highly accurate results. In February 2020, Esculab Medical Laboratory underwent a voluntary assessment of its measurement capabilities in accordance with the requirements of DSTU ISO 10012:2005 “Measurement management systems. Requirements for measurement processes and measuring equipment” to confirm technical competence and received a Certificate of Conformity of the measurement management system. Today, Esculab performs more than 820 types of laboratory tests.
