UKRAINE EXPORTS 50.4 MLN TONNES OF GRAIN

Ukraine saw a record high export of 50.4 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops in the 2018/2019 marketing year (MY, July 2018 through June 2019), which was 26.3% more than on the same date of the previous MY.
The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry reported with reference to the State Fiscal Service, that maize exports totaled 29.82 million tonnes, shipments of wheat and wheat-and-rye blends abroad totaled 15.6 million tonnes, while 3.7 million tonnes of barley and 87,800 tonnes of rye were exported during the reporting period.
Some 301,280 tonnes of flour were also exported by the said date.
As reported, Ukraine in MY 2017/2018 exported 39.9 million tonnes of grain.
According to the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, Ukraine exported 1 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops from July 1, when the new 2019/2020 marketing year started, to July 12, 2019.

UKRAINE SEES 11% FALL IN FOREX EARNINGS FROM FERROUS METAL EXPORTS

Ukrainian metal companies saw a fall of 11.1% in foreign currency revenues from exports of ferrous metals in January-June 2019 year-over-year, to $4.797 billion.
According to customs statistics published by the State Fiscal Service, the share of ferrous metals of total income from exports was 19.6% compared to 23.21% from a year ago.
In June 2018 alone, receipts from ferrous metal exports amounted to $728.422 million.
In January-June 2018, Ukraine decreased imports of similar products by 4.5%, to $600.651 million including imports reaching $106.97 million in June.
In January-June 2018, Ukraine decreased metal products exports by 1%, to $534.622 million including June deliveries being $100.516 million. During this period, imports of metal products grew by 28.9%, to $528.524 million, including June imports worth $81.691 million.
As reported, in 2018 Ukraine saw its forex earnings from ferrous metal exports rise by 23.8%, to $9.937 billion. Ukraine saw imports of these products increase by 20.4%, to $1.367 billion.
Ukraine experienced a 23.8% rise in metal products exports, up to $1.11 billion. Metal imports grew by 19.9% last year, to $967.674 million.

UKRAINE INCREASES EXPORTS OF POULTRY BY 38%

Ukraine in January-June 2019 increased exports of poultry by 38.4% compared to the same period of 2018, to 211,200 tonnes, the State Fiscal Service has reported.
At the same time, according to its data, in monetary terms exports of these products increased by 27.5%, to $307.15 million.
Imports of poultry in January-June 2019 slightly fell, to 60,500 tonnes, in monetary terms decreased 4.7%, to $24.4 million.
According to the service, in January-June 2019 pork exports decreased 7.6%, to 1,000 tonnes. This product was delivered for $2.4 million, a fall of 4.7% year-over-year.
During this period, import of pork to Ukraine grew by 32.7%, to 11,100 tonnes, in monetary terms it amounted to $20.7 million, which is 34.6% more than in January-June 2018.

UKRAINIAN MANUFACTURER OF CAT AND DOG FEED STARTS EXPORTS TO BRITAIN AND FINLAND

Kormotech LLC (Lviv region), a large Ukrainian manufacturer of cat and dog feed, has made the first shipments of cat feed under a private label to the UK and Finland.
According to the press service of the company, 19 tonnes of dry cat feed were delivered to the UK and 5,000 tonnes to Finland. The company plans to supply wet feed to Britain, which makes up 75% of the feed market in this country, and export products under its own trademark to these countries after obtaining the necessary certification.
“Northern Europe has a very developed market, and the largest share in this market belongs to super premium feeds. The UK is among the ten most powerful pet food markets in the world. Our goal is to enter the top 50 industry leaders in the world by 2023. Now our product exports account for about 15%, and we need to triple this figure to achieve our goal,” Ihor Paraniak, the production director of Kormotech, said.
The company planned in 2019 to make the first private label shipments to the UK and Finland, as well as to enter U.S. retail chains (now products are sold through Amazon in this country).
Kormotech exports products to over 20 countries, including France, Estonia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Poland.

UKRAINE REDUCES SUGAR EXPORTS BY 20%

Ukraine for the ten months of the 2018/2019 marketing year (MY, September-August) exported 403,000 tonnes of sugar, which is 20% less than during the same period of the previous MY, the press service of the Ukrtsukor National Association of Sugar Producers has said. “It is likely that, according to the results of the current marketing year, sugar exports will amount to about 500,000 tonnes. This is 10% less than in the previous MY. The decline in supplies is due to low world sugar prices and an unfavorable market situation,” Ruslana Butylo, the deputy chairman of the association, said.
According to the association, sugar exports in June 2019 decreased by 40% compared with May and amounted to 24,800 tonnes.
“Azerbaijan remained the main importer of Ukrainian sugar in June, but Libya competed with it: these two countries accounted for 28% of total exports. Also, significant deliveries were made to Georgia and Tajikistan (12% and 10% respectively),” the expert said.

UKRAINIAN ASSOCIATION OF AGRARIAN EXPORT TO CONDUCT PRESS CONFERENCE “RESULTS OF EXPORTS OF FRUITS AND BERRIES IN 2018-2019. FORECAST FOR HARVEST”

On Tuesday, July 9, at 10.00, the press center of the Interfax-Ukraine news agency will host a press conference entitled “Results of Exports of Fresh Fruits and Berries in 2018-2019. Forecast for Harvest (and Ukrainian Exports) for 2019-2020 Season.”
